the public. Biobanks significantly vary in size such as biobanks held in medical institutions hold
relatively modest number of samples compared with a national biobank, which hold a large number
of samples. Biobanks are commonly used to support research of most common types of genetic
disorders, for developing personalized medicine, for stem cell research, and for maintaining and
updating age demographic databases.
