Isocyanate US 13
Core Foam System
Product Data
Description
Modipur US 569 B / US 13 is a CFC-free foam system used for making low density
ski/snowboard cores. It has excellent flowing properties under suitable processing conditions. It
can also be used as a core in sandwich constructions or as block foam.

Processing data
The two components can be processed on conventional high and low pressure foaming
machines. To improve the flowing properties of the reacting foam-mixture and to achieve an
even cellular structure of the foam, sufficient air nucleation in the raw materials, preferably by
using a suitable air nucleation device, has to be ensured prior to processing.
Component 1 (polyol) has to be homogenized prior to use (approx. 10 min, 1000 2000 rev./min). In the machine tank component 1 has to be homogenized continually
(approx. 60 rev./min).

Storage
If protected from moisture and kept at a temperature of 20 -24 C in closed containers the raw
materials are stable for 6 months after delivery. Component 2 (isocyanate) is prone to partial
crystallization at temperatures below 5 C. The product can be brought back into the liquid state
by careful warming of the entire content up to a maximum of 70 C. After warming the sediment
content in the container may have increased, but will not affect the quality of the foam.
Safety Precautions during Processing
The system contains a small percentage of amines and 4,4'diphenylmethanediisocyanate. When the raw materials come into direct contact with the skin irritation may
occur. Always wear safety goggles and protective gloves (rubber or PVC) when working
with the system. Splashes on the skin must be wiped off, and the contaminated areas
must be thoroughly washed with soap and water. Subsequently these areas should be
treated with a good barrier cream. Splashes in the eyes must be removed immediately by
careful and thorough rinsing with plenty of water. A doctor should then be consulted.
Contaminated clothing must be changed immediately. The material must be kept away
from foodstuffs.
