Filipino travelers do not need a visa to visit at least 25 countries, according to information provided by the Department of
Foreign Affairs.
These countries include most of the Philippines' Southeast Asian neighbors, but also Latin American tourist destinations
Brazil, Peru, Bolivia and Costa Rica.
GMA News Online requested the information from the DFA after noting widespread online glee several weeks ago over a
open in browser PRO version

Facebook post that listed about 60 countries where Filipinos can go visa-free.
After sending queries to Philippine embassies and consular posts, the DFA would only confirm 20 countries. But its public
information office added that they are still waiting to hear from some overseas posts.
GMA News Online also called up embassies of countries missing on the DFA list and filled gaps in the information.
The information provided in the viral Facebook post supposedly came from the International Air Transport Association (IATA),
Qantas, Wikipedia, Visalink, and VisaHq.ph.
The map below shows visa requirements of each country with a pin. Pin color legend: yellow - visa required; pink - Schengen
visa required (Europe); green - visa-free for a certain number of days; blue - visa upon arrival valid for a certain number of
days.

With this story about no visas, the next thing you have to consider is the humiliation at the immigration counter when
they start interrogating you looking for visas while all the people behind you waiting for their turn wondering what is
wrong with your documents. Well, you can still succeed in leaving probably after so much negotiation how much you
need to throw away to be able to leave. I will not fall for this news not because they are not true but because of some
dishonest ill-mannered people at the immigration counters.....

You're so right po. I had the same experience when me and my fiance went to Hong Kong for a vacation. On
of the Immigration office at NAIA was so strict and even scolded us for not printing our plane itinerary (we

booked online and wrote on a piece of paper our flight number) and it's obvious that she can easily check it o
their computer but still she demanded a printed Philippine Airlines itinerary so we had to ask people there to
help us. She let me pass and I thought the problem is over, but before we reach the gate, another woman
asked me where will I go. I answered her I'm going to HK, Who's with you? she continued. I said, "My fiance."
And OMG, she also interviewed my fiance and even told him to take care of me and ask if we have enough
income. So HASSLE! Can't they just stamp our passports and let us through since we have plane
tickets?????? Now, that we're planning to visit Cambodia this January, I should prepare pain reliever again as
they will cause so much headache.

well in the first place why didn't you print the itinerary. it's one of the important things to bring. you can
just show a hand written one. I mean of course they need a proper paper because they will not just
allow you to pass even if you have that paper. it's for formality sake. If you were in their place you'd do
the same its a policy. you cant just enter just because so dont complain if they didnt stamp your
passports immediately. You came in their with a paper hand written ticket plan what do u expect lol

What do you mean? you should have your itinerary printed it's 2013. I bring my itinerary on my
iphone or tablet. Most airlines use a ticket reference number if you have the reference number
you should be allowed into the airport. Airlines only require you to know the reference number
that's all you need. Coming from a person that flew all over the world.

This is not true at all. Not all airports are up to date. I normally check in online and print

my own boarding pass + on my iphone to avoid the hassle of a long queue since I don't
have check-in luggage. However when I traveled to Morocco recently the immigration
officer didn't let me pass because they wanted a printed boarding pass issued in the
counter so had to beg the emirates staff to issue one for me. Good thing though was I
checked in online. So to avoid the hassle get all you documents ready when traveling
and check the procedures at the airport where you are traveling from. I travel frequently
for work.

True. Totally agree. People here don't understand that they need the documents all
sorted out AND PRINTED before they travel. Protection mo na din yan. Parang akala
nila uuwi lang sila sa probinsya.

Even if you have an eTicket and had already been checked in online and your seat has
already been reserved for you, still you have to get a boarding pass, in paper format,
issued at the airline counter, in order to be admitted by the immigration staff. Nobody
can enter the immigration hall with just a passport and an eTicket number, how much
more at the airline's designated gateway. Your boarding pass needs to either manually
pass through the machine or check manually by the airline ground staff to pass through
the gate. Have a safe flight everyone.

advanced countries. In case you are not aware, phones are not allowed to be turned on
at the immigration. Bring hard copy. It's not like it's gonna cost you a ton of money to
print it out. There's nothing wrong with being prepared. If you insist your way, then it's
up to you. Just don't expect that every immigration officer you meet will bend over
backward to accommodate you.

I totally agree. Itineraries and Boarding Passes should be PRINTED and should be
AVAILABLE at all times. One should not rely solely on mobile boarding passes or
handwritten notes. And it is 2014 already but still PRINT THE DAMN ITINERARIES.

I totally agree! In most of the countries i go directly to the check in counter and just
present my passport without a printout ticket simply because they have the info there.
And in the immigration counter in other countries, as long as u have the Visa, or to
countries that don't require Visa they just stamp it. I traveled the whole world too, and
the weirdest is our immigration. Most will just hold and delay you, nakakaawa talaga
how they treat people especially the first timers! Then eventually you know what they
want. One of the many many situations is when I went to Brunei; I've been there a
couple of times already, then the Immigration officer asked me where is my Visa? I
asked her back; "What Visa are you talking about? I've been there a couple of times
already, dito lang ako sa Pilipinas hinanapan ng Visa. Even in Brunei they don't ask me
that!" That's really weird! Then she stamped my passport and let me go. What if sa
first timer nangyari yun? I'm almost sure maraming ayusan na magaganap.
Nakakalungkot, let's all pray that it will change... I still have high hopes. I love our
country.

I agree. Immigration lang natin sa pinas ang maarte. When i went to sg, the officer tried
to ask me too many questions. I tried my best to politely answer all the questions but
got tired when he asked the same questions. I just said "i have a plane to catch and ive
shown you all required documents. Tell me again the purpose of your repetitive
questions" he then let me go. Pagdating ko sa sg, kinonfirm lang address na pagstayan
ko and ayun, stamp na.

Even if you have your Itinerary on your smart phone, you still have to provide a hard
copy it so that the immigration officer can asses properly. even if we have been given
visa free access to their country we still have to follow their rules

To solve your problem, be prepared all the time. It's true, not all airports are up to date.
And not all of them have the same policy. If you have all your complete documents,
nobody can ban you for entering any of your destination.

Unfortuantely, its still old-school in our airports. Though there is the convenience of the
e-ticket and other electronic travel documents / means, airport personnels and airline
staff still prefer a b&w printout of whatever they want to see.

Often, it's how you look and how you behave. If you don't appear that you are capable
of being a tourist, they will start questioning you...hence, dress up properly, your
appearance must suggest that you are able to pay for overseas travel ( if you are
tourist), be cool and relaxed. Immigration people are trained to read people's body

What are you talking about? It is none of their business. You do not need the itinerary as it is in
the airline computer and they are the only one it is relevant to. All this stupidity is part of the
politics of fear the US started in order to gain power. Do as we say or you must be a terrorist
type rubbish. Immigration should just stamp your passport as any other print out may as well
be hand written as we have Word to edit it with if we want.

I'm confused about some of the responses. She did say she had tickets. I've traveled so many times
from the Philippines going to other countries. You have to have identification, like your passport, when
you check-in, Then they give you a boarding pass (in advanced countries, online check-in is allowed
and you just show the pass on your smartphone). So based on her story, she reached the
immigration counter in NAIA. So it means she has a boarding pass at that point. If that is so, then she
is right to feel frustrated why this officer is asking for an itinerary?! Why do you need that when the
boarding pass would clearly show the destination (Hongkong in this case). That's really just
harassment and this person has a right to express her indignation. Why are some of the people here
scolding her? Sure, printing it to avoid being harassed by ignorant and arrogant immigration officials is
an option. But if she chose not to, she did nothing wrong, and has a right to protest such treatment.

It's not about ignorance of those immigration officer as they are hired to do their duty. Normally
thry need to check your ticket to see that you have booked a round way ticket. Some Filipino's
try to find opportunity abroad bypassing the POEA system. This was been carried forward to
the immigration officer's responsibility. They want security and safety of their own countrymen
for any human trafficers. Just a thought.

show one as our proof that we will return, as many of us use 'tourist' as gateways..you know
what i mean.
a boarding pass will show your destination, but no return.
surely, your e-services will work on check-in counters..
most probably not on immigration desks..
we should know the difference.

to my understanding the immigration have the right to ask for a printed ticket because
as a tourist you should have a return ticket and the date kung kailan ka babbalik sa
pilipinas. now if she only have a boarding on her hand for sure la naman nakalagay
siguru if when sya babablik sa pilipinas di ba?

After reading all the comments you are the most logical person to understand the
complainant's side of the story. Printing the docs is just an option to avoid hassles which
somehow you preempt the likely to be arrogance of some immigration staff. But choosing
otherwise is also an option of a client to enjoy the online booking and checking in.
