Materials
! G hook
! Yarn needle
! 12 mm solid black doll eyes
! Polyester stuffing
! Worsted weight yarn in beige,
yellow, black, blue, red, white

Project Notes

Alice measures approximately 11.5 inches

(29.2 cm) tall.
Gauge is not overly important. The heavier
the yarn and larger the hook, the bigger the
finished piece, and vice versa.
Work all rounds in continuous spirals unless
otherwise indicated. Do not join rounds.
Use stitch markers to keep track as you go.
Stuff large pieces firmly. Don't worry about
stuffing the tops of her arms.
Leave tails loose inside the work when
possible no need to weave these in.

Curiouser and curiouser! I've had a

longtime fascination with Alice,
especially John Tenniels iconic
illustrations of her and all the rest of the
Wonderlandians.
I based my amigurumi Alice off the cover
picture from my childhood copy of the
book. Complete with recognizable blue
dress and black headband, Alice also
comes with striped leggings and apron
that add a pop of red to this
recognizable palette. Enjoy making this
doll for the whimsical child in your life.
Better yet, gift it along with a copy of the
book!
This pattern is designed to be quick and
easy to make. The large(ish) hook means
it whips up fast, and no out-of-theordinary supplies are required.

EssHaychs great tutorial:

http://esshaych.blogspot.com/2009/09/amigur
umi-hair-tutorial.html.
Determine a hairline around Rnd 6, and start
attaching strands to every st along the hairline.
Frame her face by extending the hairline
downward on both sides of her face. Then fill in
the rest of the head with strands. Since her hair
is pulled back by a headband on top, you only
have to connect strands to every other st when
filling in. Its important to attach to every st only
along the hairline, which is most visible.
Using a yarn needle threaded with a triplestrand of black, sew a headband onto Alices
head.

Hair

NOTE: I recommend adding hair last.

Cut strands of yellow yarn approx 14 inches
long. Attach each strand loop-style to Alices
head: Fold each strand in half. Insert hook
through the st that you want to attach the hair
to. Place the folded end of the strand on the
hook and pull partially through the st, creating a
loop. Pull two loose ends of strand through the
loop created and pull tight. Check out

means that the stripes will not connect to

rather than spiral rounds. (That means you
join each round with a sl st at the end and ch
