Limpid, noticeably amber gold. Floral (chrysanthemum?), quince jelly nose,
slightly oxidative and with some oak in the background. Retro-olfaction leaves
a mellow quince alcohol touch. Persistent finish.

Turbid, dark ruby red. Burnt, coffee, smokey notes quickly develop to some
foxy grapes and herbal (catmint, thyme, peppermint) ones. Fruity, dry,
medium-acid, light-bodied wine with remarkable character and length.
Thyme-infusion springs to mind. On schists terroir, it is not classified as
Saint-Chinian because the vines grow on a northern slope.

Pale straw yellow. Apple, apricot, caramel, mild tobacco, biscuits: a pleasant
blend of fruitiness and oakiness on the nose. Well-balanced: salinity, vivid
acidity and oiliness. Decent vanilla notes. Excellent QPR from Southern
Burgundy.

Dark mahogany red. First nose of dark berries (blueberries, blackberries),
paprika. Coffee, bread crust, honey/propolis, fresh cucumber peel come later
as the glass empties. Reasonably chewy, good balance of acidity and tannins,
cherry flavors. Dark 90% cocoa chocolate and blueberry finish. A sip of
history since 2008 seems to be the last vintage under this label after the
takeover by Philippe de Rothschild. A pity because this is Pontet Canet's
neighbour at a fraction of the latter's price.

Deep ruby red. Self-confident nose of red fruit, blood, raw meat, kefta spice
blend. An overwhelming bitterness from start to mid-palate makes it difficult
to appreciate it on its own, but good acidity towards the end takes the lead
and provides for a decent finish.

(Too) young riesling from a granite terroir, SE slope. Amount of clay higher
than on neighbouring infamous granite GC Schlossberg though. Very pale white
gold. Not very talkative nose. Floral if a bit medicinal. Palate makes me
think of halfway ripe white cherry varieties. Dry but not edgy. Apple compote
minus the sugar on the palate. "No hectic, no rush" wine, let it take its
time.

76/21/3 merlot/CS/CF blend. Dark purple. Nose: stollen cake, pencil shavings,
blackcurrant. Medium-bodied, medium acidity, slight bitterness, good length,
assertive tannins. Blackcurrant dominates the palate, however it does so not
in a fruity but in a spicy way; some nail polish. Not a bomb.

Deiss, the defender of complantation, aims at ultimately expressing a terroir
without reference to the varietals involved. Riesling, Gewrztraminer and
Pinot Gris grow on the same terroir, the Grasberg (oolitic limestone, NE
exposition on the top of GC Altenberg de Bergheim), and are harvested and
vinified together. Medium gold. Nose of ripe pear, blood orange, beeswax, some
hydrocarbons. Yes, the palate is rich (Ricola drops, sweet cherry and citrus),
but it has outstanding acidity and INSANE length.

Since 2011, Maury sec AOC designation has been introduced to allow dry reds
produced in the same area from the same grapes used for producing sweet Maury
(vin doux naturel). 80% Grenache noir, 20% 80-years old Carignan. Dark ruby
red. Pleasant nose on crushed red mulberries, some dry figs, gouache. Much
less body than expected. Manifest dark beer-like bitterness in the middle and
finish.

White St-Joseph signed Gilles Flacher (according to J.L.L. one of the less
known local producers). 60% Marsanne, 40% Roussanne. Pale gold. Nose first
buttery, creamy, cheesecake with lemon aroma, then more on ripe 'Golden
delicious' apple scent side. The oak is only hinted at, most expressed in the
empty glass. Pastry, white yoghurt, grapefruit on the palate. Dry, fat, medium
acidity, high but unintrusive alc. (13,5%) Nice discovery!

Medium garnet, opaque. Fine redcurrant, sous-bois, breadcrust, marzipan,
kirsch on the nose. Light-bodied cherry. Acidity-driven cranberry, peppery
finish with a dry tannic grip. "Vaucrains" comes from "vaut rien" which
targets the soil's infertility of the climat (clay).

Made in Niedermorschwihr (Haut-Rhin,Alsace) - village better known for A.
Boxler's and Claude Weinzorn's rieslings (in particular on GC Sommerberg). On
this wine, the latter decided to try oak barrel fermentation of a part of his
Pinot Blanc. Pale straw yellow. Rather vegetal nose with a tiny hint of oak.
Fatter than a standard PB from Alsace. More oak on the palate, but nothing
overdone here. Dried citrus fruit peel. A bit flat, but not bad for an
experiment.

Dark brownish red. Strong cherry candy on the nose with some annoying wet

cardboard behind. Marzipan with a hint of paprika dominates the mouth. Totally
velvety, mouthwatering, extra-long finish. Keep wondering how do they age so
well? Dead 24h after, though. Fragile beauty!

"Versa il vino! Eccelente Marzemino!" These words from Mozart's Don Giovanni
are mentioned in every article on this autochtone grape variety from Trentino.
New to me. Marzemino gentile was appreciated in the past but is now almost
unknown beyond Northern Italy. What's in the glass? Deep ruby red. Nose:
somehow syrah-like, pencil shavings, preserved plums out of the jar, menthol.
On the palate: nail polish, at best some indefinite red fruit. Light body,
rather high acidity, light bitterness, short finish.

Wishlisted after reading a TN by KUHN! some time ago. Comes close to a
Burgundy Villages from Cote de Nuits, maybe with rounder-edged body and less
stringent acidity. Good salinity. The elevage seems well-mastered as far as
the aromatics are concerned. Never tasted such a German Spaetburgunder before.
Tempted to try more from the same winery- and from Kuhn's as well.

help sensory analysis. Deep red colour. In a nutshell: a mouthload of

80% Tannat, local grape variety in SW France, the rest is Cabernet sauvignon
and Cabernet franc. Dark, dense, opaque red with (still) purple rim. Crushed
blueberries, cherry jam, raisins, honey on the nose; i definitely get
pomegranate with some of its inner white skin on the palate. Full-bodied and
delicately tannic with a long finish. Nice company to roasted meat.

Vivino's bug deleted my yesterday's TN!!! Tasted yesterday. Dark carmine red.
First animal nose, burnt feathers, then redcurrant nad cherries with a hint of
black pepper and a hint of vanilla. Powerful and longish, with velours-like
tannins. Balanced. Ready to be enjoyed now!

Not familiar with the region (Bierzo in NW Spain) and the grape (100% Mencia).
55 years old vines. Dark ruby. Discrete bouquet with a mix of ripe
blackberries, spice, overheated wood, and a hint of vanilla. TANNIC, acid and
bitter at the same time. Plus 14,5% vol. alc. which do not help matters.
Drinkable but quite rough personality, desperately needs food pairing.

Chaque Saint-emilion est pour moi comme un retour a la maison. 85% merlot, 15%
cabernet franc. Robe grenat fonce. Nez sur la cerise, la myrtille, le lard,
assez fume. Corps moyen, tannins serres, belle acidite, longue finale. Vin
honnete, a maturite, pourra encore se garder quelques annees.

rouges (framboise). Bouche: cerise, noyau de cerise, amande, massepain.
Matiere et finesse extraordinaires. Belle acidite, belle longueur, tannins
fins mais bien presents. D'une insolente jeunesse, aussi a savourer seul.

Parcelle en continuite du plateau de Pomerol, terroir d'argiles et de graves.
Belle robe rubis, belles jambes. Nez sur la cerise douce; pruneau cuit,
reglisse, poivre noir; plus fruite qu'epice. Excellente longueur en bouche,
belle acidite, tannins fermes. Cerise, extrait d'amandes, amers de biere en
fin de bouche. Cette bouteille avait encore quelques belles annees devant.

evoquant decemment le fruit de la passion (la baie videe de ses graines) a

This bottle shows clear signs of evolution: brick rim in glass, dried raisins
dominate the nose, together with a hint of chalk dust. Chalkiness in mouth,
too; it has a long finish and it did exceptionally well with roasted goose
with chestnut stuffing. Victim of storage or 2006 is not a year that you would
want to keep too long.

Now that's been my portion of fruit for today! Huge fruit, strawberry, cassis,
with a hint of orange peel. Loads of sweet cherry on the palate. Dry,
