Open hysys and make new case and define components from basis environment.

Select components from c1 to c8 and nitrogen, co2, C7+ and H2s.

As C7+ is not in the hysys component list. To make C7+ select hypothetical and then quick
create hypo component.

Then move to critical tab and enter 122 in molecular weight and 760 kg/m3 in ideal density tab and then
click on estimate unknown properties.

Select methods tab. Ensure that the gas-based with liquid and the calculate profile radio
buttons are selected as shown.

Select temperature profile tab .enter 0 ft into the distance field and 2800ft into the elevation
field .

Select the cell in the pipeline unit column that reads <empty> select pipe from the drop-down
list. a pipeline unit will be added to the profile matrix.

Pipe unit view appears as given below.

Select dimensions and enter 12 inches in nominal diameter and select 40 in pipe schedule.

From same pipe unit select heat transfer and enter 4ft in center line depth and select sandy soil
moisture in soil type.

Go to pipe coatings tab and PVC foam with a thickness of 4 inches as shown below. And then
click close.

Go to elevations profile tab and complete the specification for pipe .

Using the copy and paste buttons on the elevation profile you can create a new pipeline unit
with identical properties. select the pipe unit that you want to copy in this case it is pipe #1.
Click the copy button and then select the cell in pipe unit column with the <empty> label and
click the paste button. And a new pipe unit will be added to the profile. Follow the same
method for the remaining pipe units. This only copies pipe unit view data so you are required to
enter the elevation profile data for the remaining three pipes as given below.

Go to stepsize tab of the pipesys extension view. Make sure the program defaults radio button
is selected as shown below.

Go to temperatures tab and enter 40 F in ambient temperature. The program will show
converged.

You can view the results for each pipe unit on the main PIPESYS view.

You can check to see if the program encountered any difficulties during the calculation phase
by going to the message tab.

To open the PFD view click the PFD icon on the tool bar. shown below is the final view of the
extension.
