Is 2012 Really the End of the World?
“Who are you?” said the wanderer, after discovering the ancient city. The stranger did
not reply, only stared in amazement of the wanderer, and then fled. The wanderer looked
behind him and shouted an order, ”These savages are cowards, take the City.”
Subsequently, the descendents of the lost city, were killed, or scattered throughout the
forests, their knowledge burnt or smelted for their value in gold.

Guatemala 1493
The 2012 Mayan Prophecies and the End of Time
We now know the Mayan were an extremely advanced society that believed in
the cyclical nature of time, based on their expert knowledge of celestial
and terrestrial cycles from the stars themselves. Festivals, harvests and decisions
within' the culture were based on this knowledge.

A mysterious culture that thrived between 300 and 900 BC in much of what is
now Central America, disappeared as quickly as it evolved. Another mystery
surrounding the Mayan- What happened to this vast culture?.

The Voltec Tribes took over the Mayan legacy, and once the Spanish started
the conquest of South and Central America the Incas were the last guardians of
this legacy. The Spanish Invaders destroyed as much as the Inca culture as they
could burning ancient documents, and looting and smelting down holy objects
for gold. But they could not destroy the ancient Mayan Calendar.

The end of time for the Mayan calendar is the 21st December, 2012. This is
not an ordinary date. Modern Astronomers agree that on this date the winter
solstice sun is going to be closely in conjunction with the Galactic equator. Our
Sun for the first time in 26.000 years is going to align with the center of the
Milky Way.

How could a "primitive and pagan" culture- according to the invaders who tried
to destroy it, and many of today’s skeptics predict an astonishing event over
2200 years ago?.

An event even our modern astrologers only knew about after they researched
the dates on the ancient Mayan Calendar. This question is leading many people
to believe, that perhaps there is something much more in the current Mayan
prophecies.

Currently over six billion people live on our planet, a planet now threatened
with the effects of global warming, and overpopulation. As our seas rise, lands
are lost. Valuable lands that are our homes, and more importantly places that
grow food- so there is no doubt that some unwelcome changes may occur in the
future.
However, when the conjunction of our Sun with the Galactic Equator occurs on
the 21st December, 2012. No one will really know the results of this, once in
26.000 year event. An event prophesied by the end of a mysterious ancient
cultures calendar, that thrived then disappeared before modern Christianity
began.
The Mystical Sounds of Mayan Music
Currently we all know about the ancient Mayan Calendar, and our 26.000 year
cosmic alignment. Yet one of the many great Mayan mysteries is also about the
music they played. which was used to enchant the gods the ancient Maya
worshiped. Which many of the latter day descendants of the ancient Maya say
spoke directly from the Gods themselves.

Music can be enchanting; it can bring us closer to others and our relationship
with the spiritual World. And the ancient Maya also used music to celebrate,
soothe the sick, welcome the gods, and bring the joy of living to their people.

Much is not known about pre-Columbian Mayan music, much of the culture
was kept by the scattered remains of the people who were once part of this
ancient empire, but was destroyed as millions died of epidemics, or were
deliberately slaughtered after the Spanish conquest of the Americas. However
temple relief's, and the simple instruments the few remaining descendents use
today of this ancient empire, are a living testimony to the spiritual music of the
Maya.

Drums, whistles, flutes and trumpets played an important part in Mayan life.
The "Popol Vuh," the ancient Mayan, "Book of Life." Speaks of the soft, gloomy
enchanting sound of drums as someone departs to meet the spirits of the
afterlife, and were an essential part of music with the trumpets of triumph at
ceremonies, and parties in Mayan culture.

The simple bamboo flute, the sound of the Andes, is one instrument that
probably originates from this ancient culture. Carried and played by the few
descendants of this empire, it has become a musical symbol of Central America.

The Ancient Maya were gifted musicians, and this gift has been recorded
throughout history. When the remaining "Indians" were "rescued" and
"protected" by more liberal members of the Catholic Church in the 17th Century.
Great Missions were built, and the "Indians" made and played instruments like
the violin, and flute.
This impressed the monks, who sold these instruments worldwide, and were
amazed by the musical talents these descendants of the Maya processed. Often
believing the music they played was a "Miracle of God." Many of these violins
were used by some of the great composers, and musicians of this period in
Europe.

Perhaps a visitor to modern day Central America, could stumble across the
descendants of this great empire, and hear this mystical music. Music today still
played at the homes of the now scattered tribes of the Maya, and wonder about
the stories that lay in the magical sounds they hear.
The "Skull of Doom," A Mayan Mystery
The legacy of the ancient and mysterious Mayan civilization not only rests with
its ancient calendar and temples that dot Central America. Some strange and
very real artifacts have mystified generations- since we know very little about the
Maya. One is the Skull of Doom.

Perfectly crafted crystal skulls have been one legacy of ancient Mayan
civilization that has inspired generations to dream about their real meaning. The
Spanish conquers saw them as "objects as evil," but did not destroy them- rather
keeping them or even selling them to get a quick buck.

The most famous crystal Skull is the "Skull of Doom." Discovered in 1924 by
Michael Hedges in Central America, at the ancient Mayan city of Labatuun in
Honduras- it is a life size crystal Skull that is perfectly crafted and is thought to
be over 3500 years old.

This Skull has inspired movies like "Indiana Jones", but also created a market
in forged crystal skulls. However, the Skull of Doom is very real, and one of the
strangest artifacts that come from the pre-Columbian age.

The "Skull of Doom" was thought to have taken over 150 years to craft, and
many people speculate it was either an object of worship or a symbol of death
for the ancient people in Central America.

Some people link it to the cosmic belief that the skull if placed in a temple,
projects energy from space. After all Mayan cities were designed around the
position of stars, and planets- particularly Venus, and the cosmic equator.

Other critics of this theory citing the legacy of fakes that materialized after the
original crystal skulls were discovered claim the skull of doom is nothing more
than an object that feeds on our fantasies, and imagination. But fail to answer,
why the "Skull of Doom" was created, and if it was nothing, Why did ancient
Indians bother to continue making it in over 150 years?.

Crystals have also been believed to attract some form of "cosmic energy," and
this reinforces the claims of new age believers- that the "Skull of Doom" is itself
a symbol of power and goodness. Whilst others believe it is evil, and represents
all that is bad about the ancient civilizations that once existed in Central America.

Whether it is linked to the cosmic conjunction prophesized on December 21st,

2012- when the Mayan calendar ends is open to question. But many people
agree it should be returned to the temples it originated from, rather than sit in a
far off museum in Europe.
The Mayan Book of Creation - The Popol Vuh
After the Spanish conquest of the ancient Mayan lands, most records of this
ancient and mysterious culture were destroyed. However the Popol Vuh, the
Mayan book of creation survived this destruction. What is the 'Popol Vuh," and
how does it help us understand more about the prophesies of 2012?

"This is the first account, the first narrative. There was neither man, nor
animal, birds, fish, crabs, trees, stones, caves, ravines, grasses, nor forests;
there was only the sky. The surface of the earth had not appeared. There was
only the calm sea and the great expanse of the sky. There was nothing brought
together, nothing which could make a noise, nor anything which might move, or
tremble, or could make noise in the sky."

Then came the creators...

The creators of Earth came from the 'heavens," probably related to Venus, as
the planet Venus is the focal point of Mayan astronomy, and the center point of
alignment with many ancient Mayan monuments.

The creators, "first attempted to create humans so that they may be praised
and venerated by their creation. Their first attempts (animals, mud man, and
wooden man) proved unsuccessful because they lacked speech, souls, and/or
intellect."

As the "Popol Vuh" ends these creators tried unsuccessfully to create

Humankind, but at the end created an intellectual species of Men and Women.
Throughout the book of creation, stories are told about how the Earth was
transformed by these creators, and their knowledge passed on to Humankind,
including the fabled Mayan Calendar.

The Mayan book of Creation survived solely because a Spanish Friar, Father
Ximénez's kept and preserved the Holy book, in 1701. It is thanks to Father
Ximenez, that the book of Creation survives, as all other writing was destroyed
by order of the Church.

We can surmise that the 'Popol Vu" view of creation sounds similar to both the
Bible's version of creation, and to some believers is evidence that our creators
may of come from outer space.
Strange artifacts dotted around ancient Mayan lands do include the "Esperanza
Stone," and ancient pillars which are not made from any materials currently
known on Earth. These ancient artifacts are thousands of years old, reinforcing
this unorthodox theory of creation.

There is no sound reason to deny that the Mayan knew the exact birth date of
Venus, as their fabled Calendar started on this date. They also knew the exact
date of the Mayan "End of days," when Earth is aligned with the Sun and the
center of the Universe, which falls on the 21st December, 2012.- a once in
26.000 year cosmic event. Yet, we only can surmise what events the ancient
Maya knew would happen on the day of alignment.
Six Powerful Mayan Symbols and Their Meanings
After 900 AD, Mayan Civilization declined, and the documents and symbols of
this ancient culture were almost wiped out by the invading Spanish- who
considered the Maya "uncivilized," and "cleansed" whole regions of Central
America of the Mayan Legacy.

However The Mayan left powerful symbols of their unique and little known
culture, which outlived the destruction of their conquerors. Symbols that signify
ancient and mysterious astrological beliefs- What are these symbols?.

1. Earth

Earth represented the slow movement and our continued change. It symbolized
the need of patience when we face tough decisions, and if focused upon can
help your inner thoughts make the changes you desire possible. This symbol is
round.

2. Night

Night is a symbol of balance and rest with the eventual goal of peace. It
represents resting, and forgetting your life issues until your spirit is ready to
solve them. Night represents the need to rest, so your inner-spirit can work in
peace, as you sleep in peace and helps conquer these issues.
3. Our Sun

The Sun is a symbol of awareness, of enlightenment. In Mayan culture the sun

was the symbol of life itself, and symbolized a warming of our ideas, and the
creation of life itself. Note Earth lays opposite Venus, our sister planet.

4. The Jaguar

The Jaguar to the Mayan, was a symbol of power, and rule. The Jaguar God
ruled over the Mayan underground at night, and during the day enters the skies
and watch over us. The Jaguar was the protector of the cosmic forces from the
heavens that guided us,- and a sign of leadership and confidence.
5. The Eagle

The Eagle represented contemplated thoughts, and clarifies clear mental focus
on a subject that is troubling you. Mayans believed the symbol of the Eagle if
focused upon, could even bring strong telepathic and other ancient powers.

6.. The Bat

The Bat in Mayan Culture represented the underworld. Worshipped as a powerful

symbol of protection against enemies, and its rule over darkness.- Ancient
Mayans saw both Good and evil in a complete light, rather than a separate light
many of us do today. So the bat was worshipped, as a symbol of both good and
evil.

Looking beyond the Mayan Calendar, these six powerful symbols tell us of the
deep astrological beliefs and the belief in telepathy, dreams, enlightenment and
Earth as part of the cosmos itself. An Earth of continued change, just as we
ourselves continue to change.
The Curious Legacy of the Ancient Mayan "Ah Men"
The ancient Maya were not only great astronomers or mathematicians, but also
had an advanced medical knowledge. Much is known how the Maya, practiced
and cured illness, which some of the scattered descendants of this once mighty
civilization still practice today. Who were the Mayan "Ah Men?"

The Maya had doctors and therapists like we do today,- but the fundamental
belief of how illness was caused differs. Mayan's believed illness was equated
with angering the Gods, and doctors were both spiritual and natural healers,
called "Medicine Men" or "Ah men."

When someone was afflicted with an illness, the "Ah men" would be called. As
sickness was believed to be caused by ones soul captured by a supernatural
being, the medicine man would first research any past behavior that may of
angered the Gods.

But it was a mixture of spiritual healing through ritual cleansing, the taking of
traditional herbal based medicines, and therapy that would heal the sick. The "Ah
Men" were great herbalists, and medicines were often snorted, swallowed,
rubbed on or applied as an ointment.

Once the spiritual cause of the illness was determined, fasting and other rituals
were also required to nurse the sick back to health. Therapy would include
massages, induced sleep, and sweating. Common practices today to many
therapists in our societies.

The "Ah Men," had a special place in Mayan society, and were considered close
to the Gods, allowing them to use medicines that could alter their patients
consciousness to be looked favorably by the Gods, and spiritually healed. Plants
like the peyote, morning glory, certain types of mushrooms and sometimes
tobacco were used to induce trances.
Medicines were gathered from the rich forests and the environment around the
large Mayan cities. Many of these medicines contain the natural ingredients our
own medicines use to cure or prevent illness. Scientists regularly search the
rainforests forests that remain - discovering, and testing plants for their medical
value.

Curiously as most of the ancient Mayan texts were destroyed after the Spanish
conquest of the traditional Mayan territories, medical texts were kept and are
now a record of how these medicines were made, and what they cured. Perhaps
used by the first European settlers as a cure for malaria, and syphilis. Commonly
recorded diseases the settlers caught- recorded in both church records, and the
journals of the new European settlers during that era..

The Mayan legacy of curing illnesses has had positive results in the way diseases
are treated today. And the natural environments around the now abandoned
Mayan cities, often grow the plants needed to develop medicines we commonly
use today.
What Could Happen on December 21st, 2012?
On December 21st, 2012, our plant will end a 26.000 year circle, and align
directly with the center of the Universe, and the Sun. This galactic alignment also
takes place on the traditional day of the pre-Christian ancient pagan Winter
solstice. What are the possible effects of this alignment?.

The mysteries of the human race are still being discovered by scientists, and
astronomers as we often open up more questions than answers, when we look
back at our past. A past that in reality is only recent, compared to the real age of
our planet Earth.

Few experts really know what happens when the Galactic Alignment occurs,
and the fact we have to guess, and reach back to the ancient records of the
Maya Civilization through its calendar, may show us that we know very little of
our future.

The Maya were great astronomers, building great Cities around their study of
the Universe, without any evidence of superior technology we have today, like
telescopes, satellites and probes sent into space.

The mystery on how a “primitive” civilization knew and recorded astrological

events, has fuelled the dark prophesies that our World may end in 2012.

The Maya believed that events in the Universe influenced our daily cycle of life.
They aligned their cities to the stars, and events in the far “milky way.” Decisions
were made on what Maya astrologers saw in the stars, and beliefs were formed
on movements in space influenced earthquakes, and other major changes we
feel here on Earth.

On December 21st, 2012- The Mayan Calendar ends. As Earth, the Sun, the
Milky Way and the galactic equator align on this day- signifying a new age or an
end of an age for humankind.

What could happen on December 21st, 2012?

1. A Geomagnetic Reversal

Popular in recent Hollywood Movies, a geomagnetic reversal could be triggered

by a solar flare, and Earth could self-destruct under a powerful energy force of
over a 100 nuclear bombs. No experts have denied this could happen.
2. The Nibiru Collision

Some experts in cosmology claim that Planet X or Nibiru, could collide with our
planet on the day of the great alignment- propelled by a magnetic force created
by the final alignment.

3. An “Alien” Invasion

Scientologists believe that on the day of the great alignment, an evil ruler from
the planet Nibiru will descend with his forces, and enslave earth, after earth is
battered and partially destroyed by meteoroids flung by a magnetic force by the
great alignment. This will signify a new dark age for our planet.

4. Nothing

Aside from viewing a completely different night sky, some people claim nothing
will happen, except our fears will end, and we experience looking at a beautiful
night sky.

5. Black Hole Alignment

One very real theory is that when earth does align, a gravitational effect between
the Sun and the massive black hole at the center of our galaxy, Sgr A, will create
havoc on our planet. This theory does coincide with the theory of mass
extinctions recorded in our past, and perhaps even this force could completely
destroy our planet.

6. Earth Hit by a Shower of Meteoroids

Our planet because of a magnetic force created by this great alignment could be
hit by thousands of meteoroids propelled from space. This would be the same
effect as thousands of missile random attacks, leaving the survivors left in a
battered and ruined World.

7. A Great Enlightenment

Perhaps we could discover the true origins of ourselves and our planet, and
some religious people believe, “Angels could return from the heavens, and even
the presence of God.
Whatever happens during this great alignment, we can only surmise that life
after the 21st December 2012, could change forever. As we enter the new cosmic
age of Aquarius, and as the Maya believed- a new beginning.
Is 2012 Really the End of the World?
By December 21st, 2012 some experts have predicted the fabled Mayan calendar
will run out, signaling the end of the World. Coupled with centuries old
predictions from Nostradamus, many people believe this could be the end. But is
it really the end of the World?

The last ten years has been one of greater natural disasters, economic
uncertainty and of terrorism leading to two unpredictable Wars. To many people,
the last decade has been a time of continuous change, and of growing fears for
the future...

But if we look back at history, the end of the World may only be the end of
one cultural domination or empire. The Roman Empire, which was advanced,
ended by the end of the fifth Century, and it took Europe over a thousand years
to reach the same level of technological advancement as ancient Rome had. The
fall was a disaster for most citizens of the mighty empire, and the "end of the
World," for many.

China and Asia were more advanced than Europe until the 15th Century, so
was much of South America. But to many South American "Indians"- the end of
the World came when Columbus arrived.

When China closed after an Emperor decided not to support the expansion of
trade with the outside World in the 14th Century, and withdrew the nation's
great fleet of ships. The golden age of China ended, and the Empire declined. It
was not quite the end of the World, but for those left by the trade routes these
fleets created- it was a disaster.

This may be the end of the World, many of us really believe. When great
Empires change, with the end of the brief American Century, and a possible
advance of a new Chinese one.

But in a World were evidence of mysterious temples, the legacy of often

unexplained artifacts, and lost civilizations. It is easy for us to believe the theory
of the Mayan calendar and the prophesies of Nostradamus.

One prophesy by Nostradamus may give us a clue. His predictions were based
on the end of the Catholic Church, citing the last pope is going to be the next
one who succeeds the current pope Benedetto XVI. So is the predicted end of
the church of Rome , the end of the World or judgment day?
Both the Mayan Calendar and Nostradamus's prophesy of the "end of the
Catholic Church," are near. Add our own fear of worsening disasters like
tsunamis, earthquakes, and even the economic quake of 2008. It is easy to
believe some big changes may happen, soon.
