SCHOLARSHIPS

Black Women’s Association of Albany is accepting scholarship applications for the Marian I. Hughes Scholarship for minority
female high school seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 80 or higher going to a 2 or 4 year college or post secondary vocational
training program. Applications are due back to the Counseling Center by March 11, 2010.

CSEA Kenneth J. Plummer Memorial Scholarship – A $500 scholarship to graduating seniors who are children of members of
Shenendehowa Unit 8458. This scholarship is based on academic achievement, as well as involvement in extra curricular activities,
sports, community activities and/or employment. Student must be planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college or university. Applications
are available in the Counseling Center and the deadline is March 15, 2010.

CSEA Local 864 High School Graduation Award – There will be three $500 awards given to graduating seniors who are children
of employees represented by Local 864. Selection will be based on academic record, school activities, outside work, community
service and financial need. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and the deadline is March 18, 2010.

Daniel L. Verderose Memorial Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship to a college bound senior with an 85 average or higher and is
involved in suicide prevention activities or community related programs to help teens, possibly a suicide prevention hot line or some
other program which would contribute to the prevention of suicide. Please bring an essay to the Counseling Center by February 22nd
explaining your involvement in suicide prevention.

Elizabeth Campbell Burke Memorial Scholarship - This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who intends to
continue his or her education at a 4-year college or university. This award is not designed for the person who comes in first all the
time, but instead to someone who comes in second, third, or fourth, who never asks for anything but the satisfaction of a job well
done. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be returned completed by March 12, 2010.

Friends of Music of Shenendehowa is offering two awards; The FOMS Music Award which is a $300 award given to a senior who
has demonstrated a passion for music and The Dusty LaPlante Memorial Music Award which is a $300 award given to a senior who
plans to pursue a career in music. You may only apply for one award. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must
be returned by March 11, 2010.

Orenda Elementary - Richard C. Grimm Scholarship is offering two $1000 scholarships to recognize two deserving members of
the senior class who formerly attended Orenda for at least two years. Applications are available in the Counseling Center and must be
returned by March 1, 2010.

SAMMY 2010 – Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award program recognizes (25) outstanding scholar athletes throughout
the United States. Winners will receive a $7500 college scholarship, an invitation to attend an awards weekend in June, and an
opportunity to star in a special got milk Milk Mustache ad in USA Today. Completed applications will only be accepted online at
bodybymilk.com until March 5, 2010.

Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild will award a $1000 scholarship to three area high school seniors who have a cumulative high
school average of 80% or greater, a record of community service and planning to pursue a college program in a health-related field,
for example: pre-med, nursing, pharmacy, X-ray technology, physical therapy, etc. Applications are available in the Counseling
Center and must be returned by March 11, 2010.

Student Insights is sponsoring the 2010 Student-View Scholarship Program to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year
college, community college or career school. Simply log onto www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application. The
deadline is April 22, 2010.

University at Albany Alumni Association is offering the Bertha Brimmer Legacy Scholarship for $1,500 to incoming freshman who
are children or grandchildren of University at Albany alumni. Applications are available online beginning February 1st at
www.albany.edu/financialaid/. Applications are due March 8th.
WORKSHOPS, OPEN HOUSES, CONTESTS AND OTHER SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES:

SAT Prep Course will be offered through Shenendehowa Community Education office beginning the week of March 15 th.
Information will be in the spring Community Education brochure that will be mailed in late February.

The Saratoga/Capital District Region of the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation conducts a Lifeguard Testing
Program to select lifeguards for summer employment throughout the state. Packets are available in the Counseling Center.

The State University of New York is hosting Statewide Student Financial Aid Days on Saturday February 27, 2010 to answer
questions and provide assistance regarding the financial aid application. Students may register online at www.suny.edu/studentevents
or call 1-800-342-3811 for more information.
