ThisquartersFast50hasseenFreelancer.comsdatascientistsreview
arecord322,284good*
jobs(up7.2%from300,416jobsinQ4,2014)andanalysethetrendsthatweareseeinginthe
jobsperformedontheplatform.Theresultsshowthatcontentrelatedjobsaremoreimportant
thaneverindrivingtrafficandengagingconsumersmorejobsthaneverarebeingdoneto
developiOSandAndroidappssocialmediaisatacrossroadsandinnovatorsareusingthe
platformtogetahead.

The Freelancer Fast 50 datais the leading forward indicator of trendsin online jobs related to
industries,technologies,products,andcompanies,saidChiefExecutiveMattBarrie.

AppleisGainingGroundonAndroid.

Mobileismoreimportantthaneverandthereseemstobenothingstoppingthecreationofnew
applications.Therehavebeennearly45,000mobilerelatedjobspostedinQ1,2015withan
overallriseof17.4%growthquarterbyquarter.Weareseeingthenextphaseinthetensebattle
betweenAppleiOSandAndroid,iPhonejobsaregainingpace(up17.7%at12,246jobs),yet
Androidisstillmaintainingtheleadintermsofnumberofjobsbutwithslightlylessgrowth(up
14.3%at14,831jobs).

MobileisgettinginterestingwiththelaunchoftheAppleWatch,andmoreInternetofThings
developersarechoosingAndroidastheiroperatingsystemofchoicetohelpconnectthehome,
theworkplaceandlocations.Wellwatchthiscloselythroughout2015.

MarketersareLosingFaithinFacebookandTwitter.

Marketersarehavingtomakesomechoicesonwhatactivitiestheyundertakeonsocialandon
whatplatforms.GeneraljobsaroundtheexecutionofSocialMediaMarketing(up8%at4,650)
andSocialNetworking(up5%at5,262jobs)arerisingslowly,butataslowerpacecomparedto
previousquarters.

WearestartingtoseetheeffectsofFacebooksalgorithmchangereallyaffectingmarketerswho
spenttimeontheplatformtodriveorganicreachinthepast.DespiteFacebookreporting1.39
billionmonthlyactiveusers(source:Facebook),FacebookMarketingisdownbyover2%(at
8,468jobs).Inaddition,Facebookareseeingfeweradsbeingpostedandarehikingtheprices
forthosethataretocompensate.

Industryanalysts,ForresterResearch,areurgingmarketerstothinkdifferentlyStopmaking
Facebookthecenterofyourrelationshipmarketingefforts,andAddsocialrelationshiptoolsto

relationshipswiththeirusers.InQ1,2015weseeaslowandsteadygrowthforthem(upbyonly
6%at1,745projects)despitetheirpromotedpinsprovingtobeaninitialsuccessformany

Twitter(only0.7%growthat3,766jobs)isstrugglingthemost,likelyaffectedbytheamountof
fakeaccounts,highlevelsofspam(morethan10%byrecentreports)andrecentnewsabout
poorspammanagement.Twitteritselfhassaiditsaveragenumberofmonthlyusersfellby4
millioninthefinalthreemonthsof2014,to288million,andmarketersarepayingcloseattention
todevelopmentsthere.
