PREFACE

In the pages to come, those laws, concerning which
our Muslim brothers and sisters have little or
no knowledge, have been gathered. These are issues
which they completely misunderstand.
Islam is a very moderate path. It is not so difficult,
that a person cannot walk on this path, and it is also
not so simple, that a person may follow his or her
desire and do as they will, leaving out the laws of the
Shariah and following their own free thinking ways. It
is for this reason, that man has accepted Islam very
swiftly and in no time at all it has become the most
accepted Religion in the world. Not only is this is one
place or country, but people from all walks of life in
every country and place have accepted the Deen of
Islam. You will find Muslims in every country, town
and city. Muslims can be found amongst every nation,
be it black, white, Asian and all others. There are
Muslims all over the world today. In the world today,
the most people who take the name of Allah, are the
Muslims. Even though in this time, there are those
who are only Muslim by name. Even if today, Muslims
showed the splendour of Islam, then even those who
have not tasted the wonder of Islam will come into the
folds of our Deen, and very soon, there will be only
one Deen on earth, and that shall be Islam.
But it is so sad, that today, Muslims have moved away
from Islam and having given preference to the ways of
the unbelievers. There are those of us that are so lost

in the vices of this world, making money and doing

everything else, which we do not even have the time
to think about the beauties of our Deen. It is possible
that such people will not even get this opportunity
before their death. It is death that will awaken them
from their deep sleep and bring them to know
what the reality is.
There are however those who have the feeling for
Deen and want to be more successful and attain
knowledge of the Deen. For those Muslim brothers and
sisters, I wish to compile very soon, a book that will
help them in their quest. This book I have written,
after being in the company of the general Muslims and
found that there are various issues which they
misunderstand, or do not understand at all. I have
thus tried to rectify those errors in this book.
Be it in our books or our lectures, our ideal today,
should be Maslak-e-Aala Hazrat, which is the true
teachings of Deen-e-Islam in this time. This is being
spread through the more than one thousand books
and treaties of Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (radi Allahu
anhu) that are being published and distributed widely.
It is my advice to the Imams of Musjids and the
Ulama, that they should not explain to people the laws
of Deen harshly, but they should be kind and gentle
and explain to the people with love and affection. If
they agree then this is very well and if they dont, then
we should let them be, as the Hadith Shareef has
stopped us from arguing with such people.

TRANSLATORS NOTE
All Praise is due to Almighty Allah, Choicest Blessings and
Salutations upon The Distributor of Kauthar, The
Intercessor of the Last Day, Hazrat Ahmad-e-Mujtaba
Muhammad Mustafa . Alhumdulillah in your hand is a
book called Rectification of Improper Practices which is
the Urdu translation of the book Awaani Ghalat Fahmiya
Aur Unki Islaah which has been written by Hazrat Maulana
Tatheer Ahmad Razvi Barelvi.
The Author of this book is a very well learned Muslim
Scholar and a graduate from Bareilly Shareef. In Rabi-ulAwwal 1422, Hazrat Maulana Tatheer Ahmad was one of
the distinguished guests at the Annual Meelad-un-Nabi
Celebrations in Harare. Whilst in Harare, he presented three
books written by himself to me, and requested that they be
translated into English for the benefit of the English reading
public. This, I immediately accepted to do, thus we present
the English translation which is now before you. I have
found this book to be very enlightening, as it removes
various doubts from the minds of the general Muslim public,
and helps to rectify improper practices in the Muslim
Community. The translation is a shorter version of the
original book, and has been simplified for the benefit of the
readers. I Pray in the Court of Almighty Allah through the
Wasila of Nabi Muhammad that this book is a means of
guidance to the Muslim Ummah. Aameen. May Almighty
Allah through the Sadqa of Rasool-e-Akram bless all
those who assisted in bringing forth this publication with
strength in Imaan and the opportunity to continuing to
serve the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat. Aameen

TO REFER TO ALLAH AS
THE ONE ABOVE
Some people instead of using Almighty Allahs
Beautiful Names, they refer to him as The One
Above (Oopar Waala). To say this, is totally
incorrect, and if someone holds this as their Aqida,
then it is Kufr. This is because Almighty Allah is free
from being above, below, to the right or to the left, in
other words Almighty Allah is free from place and
direction. Almighty Allah is the Creator of the all
directions. We cannot say that He is above, or below,
or in the South or the North, or the East or West, since
all this is created by Allah. Allah is before all this was
even created. People say, this is said, because Allah is
on the Arsh. This is improper. If they do say this, they
should be asked, If this is the case, then where
was Allah before He created the Arsh.?
However, If a person says Allah to be The One
Above in the sense that Almighty Allah is most
Superior and Most Exalted and that Almighty is
Greater than all, then this will not be kufr, but to say it
with the words The One Above is not proper as
those words which could give the understanding of
Kufr should not be used for Allah. We should thus
abstain from doing so.
[Translators Note: In many places, Muslims also
refer to Allah as The Man Above. This also is totally
incorrect, since Almighty Allah is free from any human
form. This too like the above mentioned is not allowed
and Muslims must abstain from this. We should call
Almighty Allah by His Most Beautiful Names.

TO SLEEP FACING
THE POLESTAR (QUTB)
Many people say that it is totally incorrect to sleep
facing the Polestar which is called the Qutb Sitara. For
this reason, these people say that it is incorrect to
sleep facing ones feet towards a northerly direction. To
avoid this, they even turn their beds, making sure that
it does not face the North.
According to the Shariah, we should not face our feet
in the direction of the Qibla as this is disrespectful.
With the exception of this, we may face our feet in any
other direction according to Islamic teachings, since all
other directions are the same. None is different from
the other. Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan (radi
Allahu anhu) says,
This issue is very common amongst the
ignorant. Qutb (The Polestar) is a star according
to the people. If this is the case, then they
should not face their feet to any direction, since
there are stars in all directions. (Almalfooz Vol.2
Page 57).
In other words, if to face the feet to the polestar is
disallowed, because it is a star, then to face the feet in
the direction of any other star would be disallowed,
and it is not so.

FACING THE QIBLA WHILST IN THE TOILET

It is in the Hadith Shareef, that the beloved Rasool
said,When any of you answers the call of nature
(uses the toilet), then do not face the Qibla or let
your back face the Qibla. (Mishkaat Shareef pg 42)
We find that our practice is generally contrary to this
Hadith. We find that many of us either face the Qibla
or show our back to the Qibla whilst in the toilet. We
usually do not pay attention to this important issue.
Even when we build our houses, we do not take heed
to find the direction of Qibla, thus causing the toilet to
be built in the direction of Qibla. We should be
conscious of this and even when building our houses,
we should make sure that the position is such that we
will not face the Qibla when answering the call of
nature.
In reality, respect is very important. Disrespect,
causes one to be deprived of blessings, thus causing
hardships and difficulties. By having respect for the
Qibla etc. a person gains blessings and mercy, thus
leading to a comfortable and peaceful life

EATING BETWEEN ASR & MAGHRIB

We often find some people saying that it is improper to
eat between Asr and Maghrib. They think that this is
an act of piety, whereas there is no basis of this in the
Shariah.
It
is
totally
permissible
to
eat
between Asr and Maghrib, like it is allowed to eat
during any other time. To eat between Asr and
Maghrib, is neither a sin, nor is it improper or

disallowed. It is common myth amongst women, that

if a womens child has passed away, then if she eats
after Asr, her child will not receive any sustenance in
the next world. This also is totally false and is another
sign of ignorance which has no connection to the
Shariah.

FIRMLY PLANTING THE TOES ON THE

GROUND IN SAJDAH
Many people are unaware of this very important law of
Shariah. They only place the tips of their toes on the
ground during Sajdah, thinking that this is the proper
method of making Sajdah. Some people place only the
big toe on the ground in Sajdah, whilst the other toes
dont even touch the ground. In these cases, neither
will Sajdah be done nor will Namaaz be complete. It is
necessary in Sajdah for the stomach of the toes to be
pressed onto the ground facing the direction of the
Qibla. It is in Fatawa-e-Razvia Volume 1 Page 556 as
follows:
In Sajdah, the minimum requirement is for the
stomach of at least one toe to be pressed onto
the ground, which is Fard and for most of the
toes to be pressed onto the ground is Waajib.

TO TALK DURING AZAAN

To be busy in conversation during the Azaan has
become a very common practice. This sadly is not only
found in the general public, but also amongst some
people of knowledge, whereas it has been mentioned
as follows in the Hadith Shareef, There is a fear that
one who talks during Azaan will have a bad death The

Law of Shariah is this, that during the Azaan, we

should avoid even making salaam, replying to Salaam
or talking. It has also been stated that if a person is
reciting the Holy Quran and he hears the Azaan, then
he should immediately stop, listen attentively to the
Azaan and reply to the Azaan. Even if one is walking
and he hears the Azaan, then he should stop and
listen to the Azaan, and reply to it. If one hears many
Azaans, then it is only Sunnat to reply to the first one.
However, if one replies to all of them, it is also good,
but not necessary.

ITEKAAF
Some people have a misconception, that the mutakif
(person in Itekaaf) should remain completely
silent. There is no law which states that the person in
Itekaaf should be completely silent. To remain
completely silent in Itekaat, thinking that it is a
means of gaining sawaab, is Makruh-e-Tahreemi
(Bahaar-e-Shariat).
However, it is better to remain silent than to speak of
that which is improper. Thus, it must be noted, that to
remain completely silent during Itekaaf is not a rule of
Itekaaf. If one remains completely silent, then how
will one make Ibaadat? During Itekaaf, you may recite
the Quran, Durood Shareef, Nafil Salaah, peruse
authentic books of Deen etc. Even to learn or teach
during Itekaaf is permitted. Due to necessity, you
may even discuss some worldly issue that is of
importance at that given time. This will not invalidate
the itekaaf. However, to be too engrossed in worldly

talk during Itekaaf, causes it to become less beneficial

(in other words, it takes away the blessings).

TO MOVE AWAY FROM IN

FRONT OF A NAMAAZI
It is often seen in the Masjids, that when one person is
directly in front of another person, and if he completes
his Salaah first, then he remains seated and does not
move. He does this, because he feels that by moving
away, he is passing in front of a Namaazi. Whereas
this is not so. If the person in front reads his Namaaz
and moves away, then this does not make him subject
to sin for passing in front of a Namaazi and nor is he
worthy of the strict command of the Hadith, which
refers to those who pass in front of a Namaazi.
The simple explanation, is this, that to pass in front of
a Namaazi where there is no (sutrah) division between
you and him, is improper, but to move away from in
front of him is not improper. Sadrush Shariah Hazrat
Allama Maulana Amjadi Ali (rahmatullah alaih) says,
If two persons wish to pass in front of a
Namaazi and there is nothing to make a division,
then one from amongst them should stand in
front of the Namaazi with his back facing him,
and the second person should walk in front of
the first person and then stand directly behind
him, facing his back to the Namaazi. The first
person should then pass and the second person
should then move away in the direction from
where he came. (Bahaare-e-Shariat Chapter 3 pg
159 - Alamgiri - Raddul Muhtaar)

From this statement, it is obvious that there is a

difference in passing in front of a Namaazi and moving
away from in front of a Namaazi. To pass in front of a
Namaazi means that a person walked in front of a
Namaazi, coming from one direction across to the
other direction, in other words walking across the
Namaazi. This is definitely not permissible and is a sin,
but if one is sitting in front of a Namaazi and he moves
away to any side, then this is not improper and is not
a sin.

WHERE SHOULD THE

IQAAMAT BE GIVEN?
It is a misconception today, that the Muazzin must
(under all circumstances) give the Iqaamat directly
behind the Imam or from the right of the Imam. If the
Iqaamat is said on the left, for some reason or the
other, then it is said to be improper. This is not true. It
is definitely not incorrect, if a person standing on the
left calls out the Iqaamat. Sayyidi Alaa Hazrat (radi
Allahu anhu) says,
Concerning a fixed direction from where the
Iqaamat should be called has not passed my
sight, whether it should be on the right or the
left. Yes, this can be said, that either facing the
Imam (behind the Imam) then on the right is
more suitable. (Fatawa Razvia Vol.2 pg 465)
It must thus be concluded, that to give the Iqaamat
behind the Imam or on the right is better, but to give
the Iqaamat from the left is also permissible. Giving
Iqaamat from the left will not harm the Namaaz in any

away, and to think that to give Iqaamat from the right

side only is compulsory is a misconception.

THE USE OF NOISY FANS ETC

IN MUSJIDS
Today, it has become very common, that rather than
coming to the Musjid for Ibaadat, we come to the
Musjid for comfort. We are more concerned about
comfort, than we are about worshipping Almighty
Allah. Outside the Musjid, many of us work in very
harsh conditions. No air conditioners, no extravagant
fans etc. but yet when we come to the Musjid, then we
give priority to these things. It is sad, that whilst in
the Musjid, little things tend to annoy us and cause us
to forget where we are. Today, the Musjid has been
made a place of decoration and luxury. There is no
objection to being comfortable in the Musjid, but this
should be within the boundaries of the Shariah. To
transgress this is unacceptable.
If air conditioners and fans etc are put into Musjids,
then they should be well maintained. Once they start
making loud noises etc. they should be repaired or
removed. This noise causes hindrance in Ibaadat. It
disturbs a person who is engrossed in his Ibaadat.
Various scholars including Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu
anhu) have clearly stated that it is not acceptable to
use fans and air coolers, in a Musjid, that are so noisy
that they disturb the Namaazi (Fatawa Razvia).
Sometimes they are so loud that they interfere with
the recitation of the Imaam. It has also been stated in
books like Durr Mukhtar, It is Makruh to read Salaah
where there is food present and one is hungry, since

this is diverts the attention from Salaah. One should

thus eat first. This refers to anything that diverts the
attention from Salaah. It is in Sharah Tanweer. To
read Namaaz near a mill is Makruh (due to the noise).
It is in Raddul Muhtaar, The most probable reason for
Namaaz being Makruh by a mill, is because of the
noise.
We should thus be sure not to install something that is
noisy in the Musjid, and if there are damaged or noisy
fans or air conditioners in the Musjid, then we should
remove them or repair them.

STANDING DURING IQAAMAT

The only time that the Imam and Muqtadi should stand
for Jamaat, is when the Muazzin (Mukabir) says Haya
Alas Salaah and Haya Alal Falaah. It has become a
practice in various places, for all to stand even before
the Iqaamat is called. Those who practicethis, have
become so consumed by it, that they have no respect
or care for the commands of the Hadith and the Laws
of Fiqh. They forcefully try to install this practice and
present invalid arguments to prove their improper
ideas. It must thus be noted, that, to stand before
Iqaamat is improper and this practice should be
stopped immediately, wherever it is being done.

THE SECOND AZAAN OF JUMMAH

It is evident from almost all the books of Hanafi fiqh,
that to give any Azaan inside the Musjid (actual
Musjid) is disallowed. This is even clearly proven from
the Hadith Shareef. It is also not evident from any

Hadith, or any authentic book of Shariah, that the

Azaan should be given inside the Musjid. After all this,
there are still those who insist on having the second
Azaan of Jummah being called out in front of the
Imam inside the Musjid on a Jummah. By doing this,
we are being deprived of acting on the beautiful
Sunnat of the Beloved Rasool . Then, there are
those, who in defiance, intentionally give the Azaan in
front of the mimbar, thus leaving out a most
beloved Sunnah of the Prophet .
Note:The Second Azaan of Jummah should be given at
the door of the Musjid, facing the Imam. This is the
Sunnah method of the second Azaan.
One who revives one Sunnah gets the sawaab
(reward) of one hundred Shaheeds (martyrs in
the way of Allah).

LOOKING TOWARDS THE SKY

IN JANAAZAH SALAAH
It is a common practice, that some people have the
habit of looking up towards the sky, when making the
Takbeer of Janaazahh Salaah (when saying Allahu
Akbar), whereas, there is no Shariah source of such a
practice. Some persons also do this during other
Salaahs. Actually, it is Makruh-e-Tahreemi, to lift the
face towards the sky whilst in Salaah (Bahaar-eShariat). It is mentioned in the Hadith Shareef, that
the Prophet said,
What is the condition of those who lift their
eyes towards the sky in Namaaz. They should

abstain from this, or their eyes shall be taken

away. (Bukhari- Abu Dawood - Nasai - Ibn Majah)
It must thus be noted, that to lift the face towards the
sky during Janaazahh Salaah or any other Salaah with
intent, is Makruh. To do so during Takbeer in
Janaazahh Salaah, is wrong and without any Shariah
source.

CAN THE HUSBAND CARRY

HIS WIFES JANAAZAHH?
There is a misconception amongst the general public,
that after demise of a woman, her husband cannot see
her or touch her Janaazah or give her Kandhaa (carry
her Janaazah). The reality is this, that the after the
demise of the wife, it is permissible for the husband to
see her, carry her Janaazah and even lower her into
the grave. (Fatawa Razvia Vol.4 pg 91)

DOES THE WUDU OF A WOMAN BREAK WHEN

SHE SUCKLES HER INFANT?
It is the saying of some people, that, if a woman
suckles her infant (breastfeeds), then if she was in
Wudu, her Wudu would break. This is totally incorrect.
Suckling the child does not cause the Wudu to break
at all. After suckling, the woman may read Namaaz
with the same Wudu. There is no need to make a new
Wudu.

WUDU
There are certain places, where people think that if
you read Janaazah Namaaz, then you cannot read any
other Namaaz with the Wudu of Janaazah Namaaz.
This is incorrect and has no basis in the Shariah. One
may read any Salaah with that Wudu, be it fardh,
sunnat or nafil.

TO MAKE GHUSL AFTER

BATHING THE DECEASED
It is better and desirable, for one who gives ghusl to
the deceased to make ghusl after giving ghusl to the
deceased. It is however not compulsory or necessary,
that after giving ghusl to the deceased, you must have
ghusl again. To think that it is compulsory or
necessary to do so is wrong.

DOES THE WUDU BREAK IF

THE SATR IS EXPOSED?
Satr refers to those parts of the body that must be
covered. It is a common misconception in the general
public, that if a person in Wudu sees his own satr
e.g. His thighs etc. or that of another person, then the
Wudu breaks. This is wrong and baseless. However, it
must be noted, that to show the Satr without reason
to another, is Haraam. (Bahaar-e-Shariat Vol.2, Pg
28)

WHEN IS THE EXPIRY TIME OF

MAGHRIB & ESHA?
Many of us have a misconception concerning the
expiry time of Maghrib and Esha Salaah. If it becomes
a little dark, then we leave out our Maghrib Salaah
thinking that it has become Qazaa. This is incorrect.
The time for Maghrib Salaah, is from the setting of the
sun until the time of the disappearing of the Shafaq.
The Shafaq, refers to the whiteness in the sky that is
visible after the redness in the sky disappears. This
whiteness stretches out on the horizon. There is no
doubt, that we should be swift in reading our Maghrib
Salaah. To do so is Mustahab (desirable). To
delay Maghrib for a time limit equivalent to two
Rakaat Namaaz, is Makruh-e-Tanzeehi, in other words
contrary to the Sunnah. To delay Maghrib for such a
lengthy period, that stars are seen in the sky, is
Makruh-e-Tahreemi and a sin (Ahkaam-e-Shariat pg
137).
However, if one has still not read his Maghrib, then he
may read it, with the intention of Adaa and not Qazaa,
as long as the time of Esha has not started. The
general time limit between Maghrib and the beginning
of Esha, is around 1 hour and 18 minutes. Thus, if the
time of Esha has not yet started, then Maghrib can still
be read (Do not delay intentionally). As for the expiry
time of Esha, many of us think that the time of Esha
expires at 12 at night. This also is incorrect. The time
of Esha is until the time of the Subho Saadiq, in other
words, the time when sehri ends.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT
TO BECOME MUREED?
The Baiat (becoming mureed) that is well
known today, is a means of gaining blessing. However,
to take Baiat is not fardh or waajib There is also no
law of the Shariah that forces a person to take Baiat,
and not taking Baiat, does not make anyone sinful.
Verily, there is great blessing and excellence in taking
Baiat at the hands of a Proper Peer who has all the
pre requisites of a Peer. This will cause a person to
attain great blessings and spiritual benefits. However,
if one does not find a Kaamil (accomplished) Peer,
then it does not mean that you should take baiat at
the hands of the first person you find who is claiming
to be a Peer. If a person is a Sunni, he accepts the
commands of Allah and His Rasools , He has love for
the beloved Rasool , His Aqida is firm and he loves
and respects the Awliyah and the Ulama, then this is
all he needs (if he cannot find a true Peer). Today, it
has become common for certain Peers and some of
their so-called Ulama counterparts to spread false
propaganda. There are those, who dont even read
the books of Deen, and they start to make detrimental
statements to please some of the false Peers. They say
that one who is not mureed, is the mureed of
shaitaan. Some of these people even say that this is
the statement of the Prophet (Allah forbid). Firstly,
this is not Hadith. As for this statement being
mentioned, then this is a fact. It has been mentioned
by certain Buzurgan-e-Deen, He who does not have a
Sheikh, His Sheikh is Shaitaan. This refers to Peer
Aam and not Peer Khaas

Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) says, That Sunni

Sahihul Aqida who accepts the righteous Imams,
understands the necessity of Taqleed (following one of
the four Imams Shafiee, Maaliki, Hambali, Hanafi),
and is a true follower of the Awliyah Allah, and is firm
in his belief and on the straight path, is never without
a Peer, for his Peer is the word of Allah and His Rasool,
the Aima (Imams) and the hidden and apparent
Ulama, even though if in reality he has not given his
hand in the blessed hands of any Pious Servant of
Allah. (Niqaa-us-Sulafa Fi Ahkaamil Baiat Wal
Khilafa Pg 40)
To gain more information on this, peruse Aala
Hazrats (radi Allahu anhu) Fatawa Afriqa on the issue
of Baiat and Niqaa-us-Sulafa. It must be noted, that if
you find a true Peer, then give your hand in his hand,
so that you may reap the blessings and reach spiritual
heights. But, if you do not find such a Pious Person,
then dont just accept any corrupt or mislead person
as your Peer. Look for a true Peer. Not those so-called
Peers who insult and keep people away from the
Ulama (so that there pastures stay green). To join such
so-called Peers who insult the Ulama and speak
against the Shariah, is to cause the death of your own
Imaan.

WHAT SHOULD ONE DO IF

YOU DO NOT FIND A TRUE PEER?
Remain firm on the correct Aqida. Act upon the
commands of the Shariah, and love and revere all the
Awliyah Allah and the Ulama who are worthy of
respect. Once someone asked Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam
(radi Allahu anhu) this,
What is the condition of that person who takes
your name (with love) and has not given his
hand in your blessed hand or worn your khirqa?
Is he from amongst your disciples?
Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam (radi Allahu anhu) answered by
saying, Whomsoever links himself to me and
enters his name into my disciples, then Allah will
accept him, and he shall be in the congregation
of my mureeds. (Fatawa Afriqa pg 140)
With the exception of this, Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Haq
Muhadith-e-Dehlwi alaihir rahma says,
Whomsoever does not find a Kaamil Peer with
all the necessary conditions, He should send
Durood Shareef in abundance upon the Prophet

IS IT NECESSARY FOR
A PEER TO BE SAYYID?
It has become a misconception today that
only Sayyids (descendants of the Rasool ) are
allowed to be Peers. They are the only ones who have
the right of making mureeds. Sadly, amongst those
who spread such propaganda, are mostly those who
themselves are not Sayyid and only claim to be
Sayyid, so that they may broaden their horizons.
True Love and respect for the Sayyid is the recognition
of the people of Imaan. Very deprived and unfortunate
are those who have no love for the family of the
Prophet . But it must be noted, that it is not
necessary to be Sayyid to be a Peer. The Holy Quran
says, The exalted and respected in the Court of Allah
are those amongst you that are pious and Allah
Fearing.
It must be noted, that, Huzoor Ghaus-e-Azam Jilani
(radi Allahu anhu) is no doubt Hassani Husaini Sayyid,
but his Peer, Hazrat Abu Saeed Makhzoomi, and his
Sheikh Hazrat Abul Hassan Hakaari and His Sheikh
Hazrat Abul Farah Tartoosi and various other sheikhs
of the silsila, namely Sheikh Abdul Waahid Tameemi,
Sheikh Abu Bakr Shibli, Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi Hazrat
Siiri Saqti and Hazrat Maroof Karghi radi Allahu
anhumul Ajmaaeen are all not Sayyids.
The Peer of Sultaanul Hind Hazrat Kwaja Mueenudeen
Chishti alaihir Rahma war Ridwaan, Hazrat Kwaja
Usmaan Haarooni alaihir rahma war ridwaan is also
not a Sayyid. If after all this, one still says that it is

necessary for a Peer to be Sayyid, then if this is not

ignorance and absurdity, then what is it?
Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) states, that to say that
it is a condition for a Peer to be Sayyid, is to claim that
all the silsilas are baatil (broken). In the silsila Aaliyah
Qaaderiyah, all the Sheikhs between Sayyiduna Ali
Raza and Hazrat Ghaus-e-Azam (radi Allahu anhum)
are all non Sayyids.
And in the Silsila Aaliyah Chishtiya, immediately after
Sayyiduna Ali (radi Allahu anhu) is Hazrat Imam
Hassan Basri (radi Allahu anhu), who neither Sayyid,
Quraish nor an Arab, and in Silsila Aaliyah
Naqshabandiya, the actual inception is from Hazrat
Abu Bakr Siddique (radi Allahu anhu). (Fatawa
Razvia Vol. 9 pg 114)

BEGGING INSIDE THE MUSJID

The practice of begging in Musjids today has become
very common and seems to be growing. It is
sometimes seen, that the Imam just completes Salaah
and there are persons in various parts of the Musjid
asking for money. This is a completely incorrect
practice. Such people should be cautioned against this,
and the authorities of the Musjid must put a stop to
those who beg inside the Musjid.
Sadrush
Shariah
Hazrat
rahmatullah alaih says,

Maulana

Amjad

Ali

To beg inside the Musjid is Haraam and to give

anything
to
such
a
person
is
also
disallowed. (Bahaar-e-Shariah Vol 3 pg 184)

The method for such persons, is to either ask outside

the Musjid or inform the Imam etc. of their problem so
that he may inform those who may be of some
assistance of their situation.

MAKING KAAFIRS MUREED

Some Jaahil so-called Peers even make kaafirs
mureed. This is totaly ignorance. Until and unless a
kaafir does not read the Kalima and accept Islam, to
even use the term mureed for him is ignorance. They
worship idols day and night, pray to false gods and
you call them your mureed. He who is not Allah and
His Rasools, How can he be yours? Aala Hazrat Imam
Ahmed Raza Khan (radi Allahu anhu) says, No
Kaafir, be he a mushrik or Muwahid, can enter
the silsila and neither is baiat acceptable
without Islam or even before accepting Islam,
even though he may become a Muslim later.
Whether it is Baiat or any other Amal, the first
condition is Islam.(Fatawa Razvia Vol.9 pg 157)

CAN ONE MARRY IN MUHARRAM

AND SAFAR?
In the month of Muharram, there are various unIslamic acts that have crept into our communities. The
month of Muharram is now taken as a month of
mourning. There are those who say that to make
Nikah in Muharram is not permitted. This is improper.
Nikah can be made at any time, be Muharram or
Safar. There is no rule of the Shariah which says that
it is improper to marry in Muharram of Safar, or in any

other month. The following questions were asked to

Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu):
1. There are those in the Ahle Sunnat who do not cook
Roti during the day or sweep their homes, in the first
ten days of Muharram.
2. They do not change their clothes for ten days,
3. There do not marry in the month of Muharram
4. In the month of Muharram, with the exception of
the Niyaaz of Hazrat Imam Hassan and Imam Husain
radi Allahu anhum, they do not make any other Niaz
or Faateha. Is all this permissible or not?
Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) answered this by
saying, The first three issues are soug (mourning)
and this (type of) mourning is haraam. The fourth
issue is ignorance. In every month and on any date,
the niaz of any Wali and the faateha of any Muslim can
be made. (Ahkaam-e-Shariat Part 1 page 127). In
actuality, to make soug in the month of Muharram is
the cursed practice of the raafdhis (shiites) and to
show happiness in this month, is the manner of the
Khaarijis and to make niaz and faateha, read nafils
and keep fast, is the manner of the Muslims (and
Praise be to Allah for that).

CAN A WIDOW REMARRY?

In Islam, it is permissible for a widow to remarry. If
this is done with the intention of protection from ill
thoughts, sin and wrongdoings, then without doubt, it
is also a means of gaining great reward. To mock and
say harsh words to a widow who wishes to remarry,

and to insult and look down on her for this, is a sinful

act.
In this issue, there are two types of persons. The first
type are those who say that she must marry, in other
words they say it is fard for her to marry, thus causing
her to forcefully enter into Nikah so that they may
benefit from it. This group of people are
definitely misled. The second type are those, who
dont want a widow to remarry and who think of this to
be wrong. They slander and behave harshly towards
such women. This group is also wrong. Today, we do
not slander and say bad to those men and women,
who spend their time committing adultery and
prostitution and nor do we think ill of those who spend
their nights in night clubs and days in sin, but when a
widow decides to remarry in accordance with the
Shariah, then we make her the target of our slander
and insult. We slander those widows who remarry and
those men who marry more than once (in accordance
with the Shariah), yet it is Nikah, that protects us from
evil and closes the doors of adultery and fornication.

DEPRIVING OUR DAUGHTERS

OF THEIR INHERITANCE
To equitably distribute the property and wealth of
ones parents after their demise is very important. Just
as the son inherits from the property of his parents, so
is the right of the daughter. The inheritance for the
daughter is half the inheritance of the son. In other
words, if a person has one daughter and one son, then
the property will be broken up into three portions. The
son will get two portions, and the daughter will get

one portion. It is so important for the property to be

shared righteously, that even if the right of someone is
taken and they pardon it, it will still not be pardoned.
Those brothers who usurp the share of their sisters will
be responsible forever for this act of unrighteously
distributing the property of their father. Some people
think that when the daughter marries, then the cost of
the marriage and all that is given as gifts and dowry
etc. fulfils their rights towards the daughter. This is
not correct and is total ignorance. Even if hundreds of
thousands is spent on the marriage of the daughter,
then too, even one cent, cannot be made less in that
which is rightfully hers.

HOW MANY RINGS ARE MEN

ALLOWED TO WEAR?
According to Islamic principles, a man is only allowed
to wear one ring, made of silver, with one stone on it.
This ring should not weigh more than four and a half
Marsha. With the exception of this, any other jewellery
for men is disallowed. For a man to wear more than
one ring, or any other jewellery (such as chains, hand
chains, ear rings, etc.), be it of any metal, is not
permissible and is a sin.
Today, there are those, that claim to be mystics and
Peers, yet they wear and advice others to wear many
rings and gold jewellery etc. which is contrary to the
Shariah. Such persons are not even worthy of being
called mystics.

WALEEMA
After the Nikah (the following day), it is sunnat to host
a Waleema, meaning feed people according to your
means. This is a grand Sunnat of the Holy Prophet .
The importance of Waleema has come in various
Ahadith-e-Mubaaraka. The Holy Prophet himself
made Waleema, and commanded his companions to
do the same. Today, we have moved away from this
grand Sunnah. There are very few, who do the
Waleema after marriage. Rather, we feed people for
days before the Nikah and then do not make the
waleema. Rather we should have the waleema and
fulfill this grand Sunnah of Rasoolullah . It must be
noted, that there is great benefit and wisdom in every
command of Islam. If one feeds before the Nikah and
then later something goes wrong and the Nikah has
been stopped or cancelled, then a lot of money has
been wasted for no real reason. Thus, Muslims should
try and practice the Sunnah of Waleema.

THE URINE OF INFANTS

Some people think and say that the urine of a child
that is still being suckled (infant) is paak (clean). This
is not so. Urine of all humans, be it of a infant or an
adult is impure. (Ref. Fatawa Razvia Vol.3 pg146)

BISMILLAH BEFORE TAKING MEDICINES

There are those, who say that one should not say
Bismillah before taking any medication. This is
improper and a sign or ignorance. Actually, when

taking medication, one must definitely remember to

say Bismillah hir Rahmaan nir Raheem, so that the
blessing of Almighty ALLAHS name may give swift
cure to the one taking the medicine, since sickness
and cure is from ALLAH.

TO HOLD WOMEN IN CONTEMPT DURING

THEIR MENSTRUAL PERIODS
To eat, drink and sit with a woman during her menses
or after childbirth, is allowed. There is even nothing
wrong with eating from something that they have
eaten. Even today, there are those who think that to
eat with them during this period, is wrong and thus,
they give their wives separate utensils to eat in during
this time. They even say that the utensils of a woman
at this time is impure These are practices of the hindus
and not that of Muslims. We should abstain from such
improper behaviour. However, for a man to be
intimate with his wife during this time is Haraam.

THE DURATION OF NIFAAS

Nifaas refers to the blood which a woman passes after
the birth of a child. There are those who say that this
duration is for forty days. Thus, if this bleeding stops
within forty days, then they still do not read Salaah,
keep fast or do any other Ibaadat, (since they feel that
the ghusl must only be taken after forty days). This is
totally improper and a sign of ignorance. The moment
the bleeding stops, the woman must make ghusl and
start reading her Namaaz etc. (There is no need to
wait for forty days). If taking a bath is not possible

because it may cause her harm, then she should make

tayammum and start her Salaah.

REPLY TO SALAAM
Today, it has become common for us to make salaam
or reply to salaam, by just lifting of the hand or the
finger, or by nodding the head only. To make salaam
in this way, does not fulfill the Sunnah of making
salaam. If a person makes salaam to you and you only
show the hand or nod etc. and do not say Wa Alaikum
salaam or Wa alaikas salaam, then this is even a sin.
Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) states, To only lift the
hand and make salaam without any word of salaam
being with this action, is not salaam. (Fatawa
Razvia Vol.10 pg 128)

THE ISSUE OF THREE

TALAAQS (DIVORCES)
In the present time, we find some people who out of
ignorance give their wives three talaaqs or write three
talaaqs to their wives in one session. After this, they
realise their mistake, and many of them, then find
themselves trying to lie or be deceitful to the Ulama or
Muftis so that they may escape their errors. Such
people should talk to the Ulama and Muftis before they
intend to give talaaq and not after, so that they may
be told the proper procedure of giving talaaq. To give
three talaaqs at once is a sinful act, but the divorce is
in place.

LEAVING OUT NAMAAZ AND

READING WAZIFAS
There are those, who do not even read their Namaaz,
and others, who read their Namaaz in a rush and then
rush towards reading wazifas and tasbeehs. This
action of theirs will be rejected. Any person who does
not fulfill his fardh and then makes nafil, will not have
his nafil accepted. In Islam, the greatest wazifa and
amal is to read your Namaaz with Jamaat. (Jamaat
does not mean Namaaz behind Bud Mazhabs such as
wahabis, shiites etc.)

WRITING (S.A.W)
AND (R.A) ETC.
To write s.a.w after the name of the Beloved Rasool
or a.s in place of alaihis salaam is really a sign of
being deprived, because sallal laahu alaihi wasallam or
alaihis salaam etc. is Durood and we decide to make
abbreviations for Durood. Hazrat Imam Jalaaludeen
Suyuti (radi Allahu anhu) states, That person who
first introduced the practice of using abbreviation for
Durood had his hands cut off Imam Tahtaawi (radi
Allahu anhu) has written in the footnote of Durr
Mukhtar that to do so is kufr (this is if it is written with
the intent of disrespect) and this is the truth, that if it
is written with intent of disrespect, then it is kufr. To
write abbreviation after the names of sahaba-e-kiraam
and Awliyah Allah etc. is also not allowed. This causes
one to lose much blessing. For a detailed explanation,
peruse Fatawa Razvia Vol 4 page 54.

MISCONCEPTION RELATING
TO ZAKAAT
There are those, who give charity to Musjids,
Madrassas, to the needy and to the orphans etc. and
do not take out their zakaat. When asked why they do
not take out zakaat, they reply by saying, We give a
lot in the way of Allah This is a huge error on their
path. You may spend millions in the way of Allah, but
all this is of no use if you do not fulfill your zakaat.
Giving all other types of charity will not protect such
persons from the punishment of not giving their
zakaat. It is in the Hadith Shareef thatany person who
has been given wealth by Allah and he does not fulfill
his zakaat, then, on the day of Qiyaamah, his wealth
will turn into a huge snake with two plaits of hair on its
head. This snake will be turned into a noose and
placed on their necks. The snake will grab them and
say, I am your wealth I am your treasure It must
thus be understood, that the most important means of
spending in the way of Allah, is by fulfilling ones
zakaat correctly. By not giving our zakaat, we are
making a very grave error and becoming sinful. Ask
the Ulama, the laws of zalaat and in accordance with
this, fulfill your zakaat.

READING NON-ARABIC VERSES

IN THE KHUTBA
To read the Jummah khutba only in the Arabic
language is Sunnat. If anybody wishes to read any
non-Arabic verses etc. then it should be read before
the Azaan of Khutba. To say anything in non-Arabic,

after the second Azaan has been called out, is not

allowed.

TO DISOWN ONES CHILDREN

Some people say that they have disowned their
children, and they thus think, that this now deprives
their children of any inheritance from their property
and wealth etc, whereas this is a completely baseless
thought. According to Shariah, to say that you disown
your child is not binding. According to Shariah, if a
father disowns his child, then when the father dies,
the child shall still be a rightful heir. However, any
person who disrespects or causes harm to his/her
parents, is worthy of the wrath of Allah and great
punishment. Aala Hazrat (radi Allahu anhu) says, To
say that you disown your child, is not binding, and nor
does it interfere in him being a heir. (Fatawa Razvia
Vol. 5 pg412)

USE OF CONTRACEPTION
Vasectomy and permanent sterilization of males and
females is totally impermissible in Islam.
The use of temporary contraception in Islam is not
totally Haraam. The use of the loop, pills etc. is not
totally Haraam. Yes, permanent methods are Haraam
and Islam is a religion of great wisdom. Sometimes,
couples take permanent measures not to ever have
children, such as vasectomy etc. and it also happens
that the children that they had pass away. In this
case, they cannot ever have children again and will be
deprived forever of children. Sometimes, it happens

such that a woman has had a procedure which makes

her unable to ever conceive a child and her husband
passes away. What happens if she re-marries and her
husband wants to have children. Wont this deprive
him? Even the opposite can happen, where a man has
a vasectomy and his wife passes away. If he marries
another woman who has no children, wont this
deprive her of motherhood?
It is thus, even logically astounding what the reasons
are for completely destroying the means to have a
child. The laws of Islam are without doubt, full of
wisdom. However, temporary contraception is not
totally disallowed. In this also, there is great wisdom.
Sometimes, it happens such that a woman is very ill
and she is unable to carry a child as she will not be
able to safely deliver a child. Sometimes, woman
deliver their children through c-section and even in
this, doctors inform them that if they do have another
child in a certain time period, then even a c-section
will not be safe. In these cases, the use of
contraception is not sinful.
Hazrat Maulana Mufti
alaihir rahma says,

Jalaaludeen

Ahmed

Amjadi

To avoid pregnancy for a specified period of

time for any permissible reason, through the use
of medication or temporary contraception, is
allowed. However, to completely destroy the
ability to have children is not permissible at
all. (Fatawa Faizur Rasool Vol.2. pg 580)

From this it is also evident, that the use of

contraception without any valid reason, is also not
permissible.

THE USE OF WORDS OF KUFR

IN ONES DAILY LIFE
Today, Muslims in the general public because of their
unawareness or lack of Islamic knowledge, utter words
of kufr (disbelief) and unknowingly even remove
themselves from the fold of Islam. One must be very
aware of this. If a person commits a sin, Allah is Most
Forgiving, but if he makes kufr, then his end will be in
the fire of Hell. It is mentioned in the Hadith Shareef,
that the beloved Rasool said, In the evening a man
will be a believer and in the morning a kaafir and in
the morning he will be a believer and in the evening,
he will become a kaafir. It is very difficult to explain
all the words of Kufr, and how many they are. I will
however state some advice for the general Muslim
public, which will Insha Allah assist them in keeping
their Imaan safe:
1. Become respectful. Instil in your hearts, the true
love for Allah and His Rasool , Angels, The Holy
Kaaba, Musjids, The Holy Quran, religious books, The
Awliyah Allah, the Learned Ulama-e-Ahle Sunnah and
your parents. The heart of a good and respectful
person serves as a scale, where it can way good and
bad and remove that which is bad. This will thus
protect a person from doing wrong. And being
disrespectful. Almighty Allah says, And Those who
respect the signs of Allah, then this, is the piety of the
hearts

2. Avoid excess laughing and joking. If you are ever

joking etc. never include religious issues in this. Never
make jokes that are related to Almighty Allah, His
Qualities, The Prophets, Angels, Jannat, Jahanum,
Punishment and Torment etc. Do not joke about the
laws of Deen. This can be detrimental to your Imaan.
To joke and mock the commands and signs of Allah is
Kufr.
3. There are those, who say things to please everyone
else. In other words, they do so for worldly gain. In
other words, they say things like, All of us are one, no
matter
what
our
religion
is.
The
Mosque
and Temple are one and the same (Allah Forbid).
These are statements of politicians and people who
want to use Islam for their self gain. Never get
involved in such corrupt issues. Rather you protect
your Imaan.
4. In this time, there are many new groups and sects
claiming to be Muslims. Always stay away from them,
and keep them away from you. Remain firm on the
path of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat. Stay on the
bright path of the Awliyah Allah. In this time, the
personality who spread far and wide, the teachings of
the Ahle Sunnat, is Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza
Khan (radi Allahu anhu). We should follow his
teachings as these are the true teachings of Islam.

WISHING EACH OTHER

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Muslims have taken the manner of the Kufaar and thus
spend huge amounts of money on the first of January
(New Years Day). They wish happy new year to all,
and they buy sweetmeats etc. for distribution.
Be it New Years day, Good Friday, April Fools day or
Christmas, none of these days are of any significance
to Muslims. To give importance to these days, and to
think that these days are festive days is completely
improper and the manner of unbelievers. Muslims
should only commemorate and celebrate Islamic
Festivals and not the festivals of Christians etc. This
could cause one to die as an unbeliever. It is
mentioned in the Hadith Shareef, that the Beloved
Rasool said, A Nation who imitates another Nation,
is from amongst them. Here it must also be noted,
that there are those who reject the commemoration of
Meelad Shareef and Gyarwee Shareef etc. and say this
to be an evil innovation, but yet they are also amongst
those who celebrate the kufaars New Year and the
birthdays of their children.

TO ASK IRRELEVANT QUESTIONS

Today it has become common amongst people in the
general public to ask irrelevant questions to the
Ulama. Some of those who ask such questions either
do so to annoy the Ulama or to test their knowledge.
Muslims should stop asking irrelevant questions and
should rather spend the time they have with the

Ulama, to learn the laws relating to important issues

like Namaaz, fasting, Zakaat etc. They should also use
this time to strengthen their Imaan and Aqida. When
you are explained a law of Shariah from Quran and
Hadith and through the Fuqaha (Learned Jurists), then
you should apply as per the law and not start
questioning this. Do not try and use your intellect too
much in issues of Quran and Hadith, as this will lead to
your destruction. If you cannot understand something,
then (Allah forbid) do not blame it on Quran and
Hadith or the Laws of Shariah. Blame it on the
weakness of your own understanding.
The habit of asking too many questions is also not
very good. Today we ask too much and make no amal
(good deeds). It is very dangerous for a blind man to
walk on a thin rope.

QURBANI
There are those whom Almighty Allah has blessed with
wealth and such persons are holders of Nisaab. During
the time of Qurbani, it has been seen, that they make
Qurbani on behalf of their parents and Buzurgaan-eDeen etc. without making their own Qurbani first. This
is an improper practice.
It is Waajib for the person making Qurbani to do his
own Qurbani first. He may thereafter do Qurbani on
behalf of his parents, whether they are alive or
deceased and on behalf of the Pious Servants of Allah
etc. To make Qurbani on behalf of the Prophet is
also of great blessing, but all this is in vain, if you do

not make your own Qurbani

responsibility is your own Qurbani.

KUFR IN FILM SONGS

Many of us today, listen and even sing film songs etc.
(Allah forbid). This is not allowed. These songs contain
various words of kuffar and are a means of destructing
our Imaan. The Kufr are using this as a medium to
cause harm to our Imaan. Muslims must avoid
listening to kufaar songs and singing them. These
songs cause the rejection of Allah and can cause us to
become unbelievers.
We pray through the wasila of Nabi-e-Akram Noor-eMujassam that Almighty Allah blesses us with
firmness in faith. May Almighty Allah bless us with the
taufeeq to rectify our wrongs. O Allah! Let us be
amongst those who hearts accept the truth. Aameen
Ya Arhamar Raahimeen.
