Madame Tussaud is one of the greatest attractions of London. It was founded one
hundred and seventy five years ago years ago, in 1835. This is not a typical museum. It is
a museum where you can see many wax figures from the past and famous people of
today. Marie Tussaud was the founder of this special museum. When she was young,
Marie Tussaud learned how to make figures from wax and soon she was famous because
of that. Her first museum was on Baker Street, in London. Her first figures were figures
representing the victims of the French revolution. You can see these figures in the
Chamber of Horrors.
Now, you can visit Madam Tussaud in nine major cities: Amsterdam, Berlin,
Hollywood, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, London, New York, Shanghai and Washington DC.
Today's wax figures at Tussaud include historical and royal figures, film stars, sports
stars and famous murderers. There are figures of the Royal Family, Marilyn Monroe, the
Beatles, Justin Timberlake, Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears, Albert Einstein, Tom Cruise,
Barack Obama and many more made out of wax!
The museum is open everyday, from 9:00 to 5:30.
There are more than two million visitors every year.
