How Dogs Communicate with You

Dogs are able to communicate with humans by making various gestures or by barking in
different ways. If you are aware of all the signs your dog tries to transmit, you can definitely get
an idea about numerous aspects. Your dogs ears and its entire head expression are meaningful
factors.
Manifestations of Your Dog
Your dogs manifestations of rage, anger or aggression can be spotted really easy. Its ears rise
and they lean toward its face. The skin from its nose curls and its teeth can be seen. Your dogs
gaze is directed towards the enemy, without any hesitation. In the attack phase, even the hair
from your dog suffers transformations. This attitude is also present when the enemy is not a
person, but another dog.
On the contrary, when your dog is afraid, it expresses disbelief or it is in danger, its ears stay
close to its head. Its tail usually goes between its legs and it sometimes can make sounds that are
similar to crying.
Your dogs manifestations of joy are presented as it follows: its facial expression is bright and
cheerful. Its eyes look brighter, its ears are down and it makes a specific move with its tail. Your
dogs breathing becomes more rapid and there is also an overall visible change of the whole
body.
When your dog wants to play, it presents a mixed behavior. It has a partially aggressive attitude
when, for example, you throw an object for it to bring back. However, after recovering the
object, it is joyful and it might jump around you.
Significances of Barking and Tail Movement
When your dog barks, it may try to transmit a large range of things. Barking can be present when
your dog is surprised, when it feels in danger, when it feels fear or joy. Also, when a dog barks, it
can signal its location or it can be an attempt to communicate with you. By barking, your dog can
ask you for something, such as food, water or even attention.
When your dog growls, it is a sign of aggressive communication and intention to attack. In
addition, if you hear your dog whining, it is most probable a sign of physical pain. This sound
might also occur in case of a sudden reaction of fear.
Howling may occur in various unusual circumstances. A dog may howl in order to challenge
other dogs, especially during the night. It can also be an ancestral call. However, the precise
meaning of howl is not yet well established.

When your dog sighs, it is a manifestation of gratitude. Dogs sigh when they sleep and when
they finally settled peacefully. They can also sigh when they return to their owners after a period
of separation.
Your dogs tail movements are an excellent barometer, which can help you establish its mood.
The position of the tail also plays a very important role in the canine language. In general, if the
tail is attached to the dogs body, it is peaceful or afraid. Conversely, it is aggressive or engaged
in a dynamic activity.
