RATIONALE
The general vision is to develop an intermodal logistics
system covering the Mega-Manila region (from Subic
through Clark to Batangas) that will be integrated globally
and be competitive in cost and quality to exploit the
Philippines strategic location as a provider of goods and
services (value-added) in the supply chain of huge
markets (Japan, China, ASEAN).

This initiative is likewise aimed at decongesting Metro


Manila by gradually shifting the cargo traffic from
Manila to the new ports of Subic and Batangas.

Ultimately, the Program is expected to reduce transport


cost, improve service quality, enhance the countrys
competitiveness, alleviate poverty, and maximize the
use of the infrastructures through the creation of
opportunities within the Corridor.

COVERAGE
The proposed Subic-Clark-Batangas Corridor covers the regional
economies of Metro Manila, Bulacan-Pampanga-Tarlac-Zambales
(in the north), and Cavite-Laguna-Batangas (in the south).
Together, these regional economies already account for about half
of the countries total output (GDP).

Planning for the future

As a result of the port congestion in Manila, cargo throughput at the Subic port has

gone up.
From only 2 regular callers, Subic port now has 6 regular shipping lines servicing
destinations such as Japan, China, Taiwan, and Singapore.
The new advocacy is to start expanding the capacity of Subic Port (instead of the
Port of Manila).
