OmniScan SX MX2 TOFD Acquisition

After the TOFD UT setup and scanner configuration is complete the OmniScan is
ready for inspection.
Save the file if it was not saved when the setup was completed in the last section.
Start the water supply to the TOFD probes and ensure the A-scan is live, the probes
are coupled well, and the scanner is positioned as intended at the beginning
inspection.

Move the scanner a few mm to verify the scanner encoder is moving in the desired
direction. (Positive or negative count on the scan axis)
The position of the scanner that will be recorded in the data is visible at all times in
the interactive title bar. (-36mm below)
If the scan field is red it indicates that the position is outside the area defined in
>Scan>Area>Scan Start and >Scan Stop.
Change the encoder polarity in >Scan>Encoder>Polarity> if the encoder is counting
in the wrong direction.

If the TOFD technique was selected during the group wizard setup or if the TOFD
application wizard was used the readings are automatically configured.
Readings are available at all times and can be changed in the data file in analysis.
To select the TOFD readings touch and hold on the touch screen or right mouse click
over the readings area and select readings list as pictured below for the list, or
reading to modify one of the eight available in the header.
Configuring the readings prior to the inspection will ensure every data file is created
with the same readings.

In >File>Data Settings>File Name enter the name of the data file that will be created
in the next acquisition.
The file name can be created or changed at any time. Take care not to lose data or
override data by using a logical naming scheme and keeping the flash card data
folder neat and organized.

The B-scan will build as the scanner is moved and the position of the encoder can be
seen in the title bar at all times.
Watch the data during the inspection for coupling problems, missed data points,
surface anomalies that disrupt the data, etc.

If there is a missed data point, loss of coupling resulting in loss of A-scan, or any
other anomaly in the data, back the scanner up and acquire the data again.
Data is acquired in both directions and will always retain the latest data.
Smooth steady scanning at a reasonable speed will ensure optimum results.

Select pause button on the instrument and review the data for any unacceptable
anomalies that resulted in loss of data or corrupted data.
Select save data button on the instrument to save the data.
