WALO 2How Co-ordination and Co-operation brings creativity in

the class.
As we have 2 teachers in a TFU set up, it always generates better results
because two minds with double the efforts helps in achieving desired goals and
get fruitful results on the targeted objective.
The benefits of having two teachers always helps the students to get personal
touch as well as each one of them compliments each other on their weak as
well as strong areas.
It is rightly said that nobody is perfect and there is no end to learning. Both
these things apply in real life situation in all the aspects. When there are 2
teachers in a class with different creativity and skills, there is always a scope
for learning from each other and be better practisers.
I facilitate grade Pre K and our students are quite young. They cant do
formal reading. They connect more with visuals. We need to give them lot of
oral language in terms of stories, rhymes, act out etc. Our main objective is to
work upon character building and making them independent thinkers. TFU
frame work has its own norms to make children competent enough for the 21st
century skills.
I had joined the institution 7 years back and today I have good amount of
learning in terms of experience, learning new strategies, building confidence
etc. Every year, some new learning, gets added in my work portfolio and it
becomes rich day by day.
This year too was an amazing year where I got the opportunity to share lot of
my experience and practises with my co- teacher and learned many things
from her as well. She had a career as a teacher since a couple of years but she
entered in the TFU set up this year which was a different experience for her.
She practised a different teaching methodology which she had not delivered
before.
As co- teachers we always used to share our observation, views, ideas and
methods with each other. It benefited us to reflect deeper on our actions. We

even used to design our next day based on our discussion which resulted in
smooth functioning.
We always share our opinions and give feedback to each other.
This year our students got the benefit of getting constructive feedback from
us and later they gradually started giving it within them.
Its very difficult to make this age group understand that if something is good
then why it is good and if something needs improvement, what can be done
for that. Although its difficult for elders as well.
From the beginning of the year, I and my colleague used to appreciate
students for their good work, but they always wanted happy face rather than
oral praise. They were even not keen to know what mistake they made.
Initially we used to upload their work by giving them happy face in their hands
or on paper.
After certain time, we reflected that happy face gives them joy but they were
actually not understanding that if they have done something good and if they
show their work to others, others too may get some learning out of it. Another
problem which we faced was that they used to evaluate any work either as
good or bad. They used to say that this work should get tie. tie.. fish or bingo.
After understanding their mind set, I and my co-teacher decided to make them
understand that getting happy face is not enough. They need to know that
what is good in their work and how others can get benefited from their work.
Same way if their friends have not done something well, what is wrong and
how they can improve on their work.
As we realized this, we started role modelling this by sharing in front of our
students our strong and weak areas where I told them that I am good at story
telling but not good at illustrations. Same way my partner too shared the
strong as well as her weak areas. Later we gave feedback to each other in front
of our students on how we are learning from each other. This gave an idea to
the students that nobody is good at every area but how we can be better by
getting the right kind of scaffolding.
Later we started showing their work to the entire class and we used to
discuss that what could have been worked to make the product from beautiful.
Initially, we used to show them the path and now students have picked up this

idea. They complement each others work and give them good suggestions
where ever they need.
This hands holding done by me and my colleague, benefited our students. We
shared it in the team so that even they can try the same in their class. This joint
effort was a collaboration in true sense as both of us shared a common vision
and a mission to benefit our students.
