1.) What are the theories applicable in the case of John Nash? Explain Why?
There are nursing theory that is applicable in the case of John Nash they are:
Peplau's Theory of Interpersonal Relation
This theory explains the purpose of nursing which is to help to help others identify their
difficulties. Peplau's theory explains the phase o interpersonal process, roles in nursing situations
and methods for studying nursing as interpersonal process. The manifestation of nursing as an art
is through the assisting of the nurse in their client that is sick or need of health care. Through this
it will create an interaction between the nurse and client who has a common goal. In this theory,
the nurse and the patient work together so both will become knowledgeable in the process. The
nurse here must take the responsibility of being a teacher, wherein she will impart knowledge in
reference to a need or interest. Resource person, one who provides specific needed information
that aids the understanding of a problem o a new situation. Counselors, helps o understand and
integrate the meaning of current life, circumstances, provide guidance and encouragement to
make changes. Surrogate, helps to clarify domains of independence and interdependence and acts
on clients behalf as an advocate. Leader, helps the client to assume maximum responsibility for
meeting treatment goals in a mutually satisfying way.
There is a phase in Interpersonal Relationship Theory to be able to make this approach a
success. 1.) Orientation phase 2.) Identification Phase 3.) Exploitation phase 4.) Resolution
Phase. Through this phases the nurse and patient will find it easy to create a therapeutic
partnership. Wherein they can define problems and decide what type of approach needed. This
will help the client to seek assistance and conveys need, ask question and shares preconceptions
and expectations of past experiences. The nurses must also response ands explains the roles of
client in helping to identify problems and to use the availability of source and services.
Abdella's Theory
Addresses the physical, sociological, and emotional needs of the clients. The nurse, must
provide or assist the client in achieving all activities that is basic to all human being. First, is to
mainatain good hygiene and physical comfort. Second, promote optimal activity such as
exercise, rest and sleep. Third, promote safety through prevention of accidents, injury, or other
ttauma and throught the prevention of the spread of disease or infection. Fourth, to maintain
good body mechanics and prevent and correct deformity. Sustenal needs must be satisfy and
achieved. Remedial needs is work on with the client to see its effectiveness and encourage the
client to participate in the therapeutic relatioship. Restorative care needs, asseses the optimum
possible goals in the light of limitations, physical and emotional and to use community resources
as an aid in resolving problems arising from illness and lastly to understand the role of social
problems as influencing factors in the case of illness.

2.) Are the 4 A's of Schizophrenia manifested by john Nash? Explain briefly.
John Nash has a inappropriate affect and sometimes his emotion is not present. Most of
the time his reaction to certain things was inappropriate. He focus on his own world that was
only created by his own mind, which is a manifestation of autism. He was drown in his delusion.
It was precisely because he found sense of belongingness in the world that he created. He was
the best, genius and he had someone with him.
3.) What were the signs and symptoms manifested by John Nash to conclude he has
schizophrenia?
In John Nash's early life he was an introvert and because of this it was difficult for him to
socialize or to be part of community. According to his statement to : "I don't like people much
and they don't much like me." He was usually seen in a flat affect or expressionless gaze. He was
an excellent student. Achiever, to be exact. Due to this, he was easily depressed especially when
his work were not appreciated or accepted. John Nash also exhibits an extreme reaction to
criticism and failure. He has so much drive to prove himself or ideas that results to sudden shifts
of emotion. In his early life in Princetone, he experienced not eating for few days because of the
drive to prove himself.
In his later life, he exhibits characteritic such as delusions, hallucinations, and
disorganized behavior and paranoia. However, the signs and symptoms of schizophrenia vary
dramatically from person to person, both in pattern and severity. Not every person with
schizophrenia will have all symptoms, and the symptoms of schizophrenia may also change over
time. In the case of Nash, his behavior did affect the people around him and his way of living.
4.) In your own evaluation, what type of schizophrenia would John Nash should be
diagnosed?
In my own understanding and assesment. John Nash has a paranoid schizophreniai. Based
on his bydelusions andauditory hallucinations yet he exhibitsnormal intellectual functioning and
expression of affect. The delusions can often be about being persecuted unfairly or being some
other person who is famous. In his case, he created someone whom he can be with because he
was always alone due to his personality type which is introvert. Second he did delusionize being
a code breaker for Russian.
5.) Formulate three (3) priority Nursing Care Plans for John Nash.

Non compliance related to refusal to take prescribed psychotropic drugs.

Disturbed thought process related to the presence of persecutory delusions.

Disturbed sensory perception related to the presence of visual

hallucinations.

Social isolation related to fear.

Impaired verbal communication to related to thought disturbance.

6.) Does John Nash really need the 4 ECT as shown in the movie?
ECT is electroconvulsive theraphy is a apcyhiatric treatment wherein a seizure is induced
to a patient. Despite the reality that many doctors use this procedure to calm the patient through
temporary shock and administering of insulin to chemically shocked the client into coma. The
contriversy in this procedure is the ethics, safety, effects or ECT within the medical community.
It was unethical to induced shock on someone just because they are unmanageable. The goal of
health community is to give care with justice and dignity. By using ECT, the dignity of the
person is no longer value.
