When you teach you learn twice.........

We as PBLains at Savani got the opportunity to share our
learning of PBL training with our colleagues [Which turned out to
be our WELO 3]. My Part was sharing what is PLP and how to make
one.

I agree completely .... When you teach you learn twice.........

When we start collaborating, sharing and discussing , we start
getting deeper understanding of the knowledge we possess. Same
happened with me when I ......

Captured & Expanded on - PLP {Personal Learning Plan}

What is a Personal learning plan?
An effective Personal learning plan (PLP) is at the heart of
assessment, learning, support and achievement. It helps the
learner to become an active, motivated partner in learning.
The PLP is: a personalised, flexible route map to guide each
learners journey a dynamic working document, owned and
used by the learner, supported by teachers / critical friends.
In practice, this means learners using their PLP to: record
what they want to achieve on their learning journey their
goals and progression options, negotiate and plan exactly
what they are going to do, how and when.

PLP will include: learning targets with outcomes and

timescales, and details of how success will be determined
(success criteria) details of the resources, support and
guidance, the learner will use details of where and how the
learning will take place.

View every assessment as a learning opportunity and to

plan for the next steps in learning to reflect on:
What, and how, they learned
What went well, why
What did not went well, why
Where we could use the skills and approaches again.

The benefits of PLPs

Take ownership of our own learning

Recognise the value of prior experiences

Make sense of new experiences

Understand : how to learn, plan to practise skills and gain

confidence by applying them in a range of different contexts
such as the workplace, at home or in the community.

Identify and understand barriers to learning. Where they

can find support to remove them measure their own success.

Working PLP with group of 4: [Smaller group]

I got 4 colleagues to guide them further on PLP. Our
focus was making PLP for the remaining days to remain
focus on the task. We sat together and made our PLP on
using following format.

Connected above format with the SEE - DO - GET cycle

we know from 7 habits.
My feel:
When we were discussing and teachers were asking
questions I was getting better as I was finding out the
answers was getting deeper understanding . Their
4

questions helped me to rethink on my thinking, dig deeper

to answer the questions asked.
We could make our PLP authentic and measurable.
We all could connect to Individual Education Plan {IEP}
which we make for our students.
I would like to continue helping teachers for their PLP,
Along with that will keep working on my PLP taking above
format into consideration.
My colleagues feel:
Rachana Mam:
PLP Personal Learning Plan, when introduced by the team members it
seemed as one more thing to do but when the importance of the same was
shared, the feel of the members who had created was being shared it
motivated me to give a try. We have been doing it, but most of the times
in our mind. The questions mentioned in the PLP helped to think through
the upcoming things, events. For e.g. Being more focused (SEE DOGET), prioritizing the things was done depending upon the value it carried
my life.
Being a working woman with 2 children and a joint family required a path
way for planning. Through PLP, it helped me to balance by giving equal
weight age to both personal and professional; it made me feel that I am
doing justice in both the areas. The feel of satisfaction was there which
is resulting into more confident woman. The feel of Yes I can do it. Thus
recurring PLP has given me a fulfilling and a rewarding life, its very much
important to have fulfilling routines that rejuvenate your mind, body and
soul. It is pushing me or even I can say it is giving me a kick to build up a
more passionate career.

Bansi mam:
I had made PLP on-Knowing the System. I talked with few teachers, came
to know about the system, how it's working, it's rubrics and all this - PLP
helped me because i knew what i want n if one gets deviated then this
brings back one to the topic as PLP helps to focus on the particular topic
only!!
And yes,i would like to continue because it is Focused goal and the last
question is "what next" which doesn't stop one's learning so we can even
change topic according our learning if 1 learning gets over which also
avoids boredom.
Mansi Mam:
My PLP has started making me conscious while speaking in a good way, at
least whenever the person who is keeping check on me regarding my
responses is around. Somebody giving us feedback timely on how we are
responding to others definitely helps to focus on target of not sounding
rude while responding.
In future, i would like to design such focus which can help me better
myself in many ways, only if the methodology doesn't limit my focus being
measurable. I have feeling something that bothers us should be made
measurable rather than changing the focus.
Definitely, it helps, when we are planned to overcome some bad habits and
lacuna in us. That is why, i would like to continue practicing this
methodology.
Khushbu Mam:
I have started implementing my PLP and it is really working nice as I can
see students participation ratio has increased. I really found this program
very much helpful as it is totally goal oriented and it provides you the
direction about how to work upon.

I would like to continue this PLP for my class next year also as I think it is
helpful in digging out the hidden knowledge of children those who are shy
and reserved.
