IamfeelingverygladtobeamongmyChristianbrothersandsisters.ThehappyoccasionofChristmasisjustafewdaysaway.Iextendmy
warmfacilitationtoyouinadvanceonthisauspiciousoccasion.
Ifwebelieveinalldivinebooksasourfaithisincompletewithoutitthenwhatdifferentiatesus?AccordingtotheHolyQuran,theJesusChrist
hadsaidwhileinthecradlethat"AndSalam(peace)beuponmethedayIwasborn,andthedayIdie,andthedayIshallberaisedalive"
Hisdescendtothisworldisasourceofpeacefortheentirehumanity.TheholyChrististhedivinebeingwhoseteachingsandguidanceisa
beaconoflightforthefollowersofallthereligions.Heisanevershiningstaroflovethatwillneverfadeaway.ThoughHeleftthisworldata
youngageyetHisteachingsilluminatedthefourcornersoftheworld.HewillenlightentheworldtilltheDayofJudgment.Hisdescendtothis
worldsisthereforethecauseofjubilationforall.

ThewaytheHolyQuranhasdescribedtheChristandHismotherHadratBiBiMaryam,speaksofthecloserelationshipbetweenthetwogreat
religionsoftheworld.Thistestifiesthecommondivineoriginofbothreligions.TheChristdescendedfirstwhileHadratMuhammadfollowed:
bothhaveHadratIbrahimastheircommonancestorwhoeventodayisasymbolofunityamongthedivinereligions.Inviewofthisfact,the
religiousdivideshouldthereforecompletelynarrowdown.
LadiesandGentlemen!
Whatbewildersmeisthatdespitethisclosenesswhythereligionhasbeenmadeacauseofdivisionandantagonismamonghumanbeings.
AllthereligionsaimatthepurificationofthesoulsothatthemanisendearedtotheCreatorandatthesametimeapromoterofthewelfare
offellowhumans.Despitethisunity,ifthereligiousdivideisahurdletopeacethenitisonlybecausereligionisbeingwronglyinterpreted.
Moreover,somepeopleareexploitingreligionfortheirpersonalulteriormotives.Theywantthatthereligiousdifferencesshouldnotonly
remainalivebuttheseshouldalsoenlargethedivide.Unfortunately,therearealsopeopleinPakistanwhoarecausingdifferencesamongus
andturningourmutualloveintohatred.Weneedtodefeattheirilldesigns.
Ladiesandgentlemen!
ThereligioushatredinPakistanisamatterofconcernformeduetoavarietyofreasons.OneisthattheConstitutionofPakistandoesnot
allowreligiousdisparitybutrespectsthebasicrightsofallthecitizens.Thesafetyandsecurityoflife,propertyandhonourofeverycitizenisa
fundamentalrightirrespectiveofreligiousbelief.ThegreatQuaidiAzamhadassuredequalrightstoallthecitizensinhis11AugustSpeech.
TheobjectiveResolutionalsogranteesequalrightstoallPakistanis.ThishasbeenanintegralpartofalltheconstitutionsofPakistan.
MinorityrightsinPakistanareequaltotherestofcitizensofPakistan.TheyhadoptedforPakistanattheirownchoiceatthetimeofdivision.
ThereforemaintaininganydifferenceamongthecitizensofPakistanisaviolationoftheconstitution.Itisalsoabetrayalofthepromiseofthe
Quaidthathehadgiventotheminoritiesonbehalfofthenation.
LadiesandGentlemen!
Thisattitudeisalsoundesirableastheminoritieshaverenderedvaluableandproudsacrificesfordevelopmentanddefenceofthecountry.
Theyhavebeenalsopartofourarmy,judiciary,parliamentandgovernmentandwillcontinuetodoso.Theirservicesareinferiortonone.
MajorityofPakistanisarefullofpraisefortheirservicesanddulyrespectthem.Itisonlyafewmischiefmongersandmisleadsthatare
exploitingreligioussentiments.
MydearBrothersandSisters!
ThosesheddingthehumanbloodatPeshawardonotrepresentthemasses.Theyhavenorespectforthemosqueorachurch.Neitherhave
theyconsideredtheMuslimnornonMuslimsofanyconsequence.Infact,thosearethetruerepresentativesofthemasseswhohurriedly
cametotherescueoftheirbrothersandsisters.Whilesomeofthemcoveredthenakedbodies,othersofferedtheirbloodtothewounded.
Stillothersfetchedwatertoextinguishthefiretosavethechurch.IassureyouthatthisistherealPakistan.InshaAllah,wewillneverallow
anyonetodefacePakistan.

Wehavetakenduecareinourpoliciesthatallthecitizensbeprovidedequalopportunitiesforprogress.Thereshallbenodiscriminationon
thebasisofreligion.Intherecentlylaunchedyouthprogramme,alltypesofdiscriminationshavebeenentirelydebarred.IurgetheHindu,
ChristianandSikhyouthtocomeforwardandparticipateinthisschemewithfullfaithandconfidenceandbecomeprovidersoftheirfamilies.
ThegovernmentofPunjabhasallocatedRs200millionforminoritiesand150millionforthepoorandneedyminoritystudents.Rs5lacsper
familyweregiventotheaffectedfamiliesoftheJosephcolonymishapandtheirhousesandthechurchwerereconstructedsothattheymay
continuewiththeirnormaldailyroutinehappily.
LadiesandGentlemen!
WeareallvictimsofthesamecrisesPakistanisfacingtoday.Terrorismhasnottargetedthefollowersofanyparticularreligion.Povertydoes
notrecognizereligion.Ignoranceisalsonotconfinedtoanyparticularsectorreligion.Thequestionisifignoranceisnotlimitedtoanyreligion
whyshouldtheknowledgebe?Ifterrorismhasnoreligionwhyshouldthepeacehaveone?Whenpovertyisnotconfinedtoanyreligionwhy
shouldprosperitybe?Wehavetoprovideknowledge,prosperityandpeacetoeveryonewithoutdiscrimination.Thegovernmentis
committedtothis.

Togetherwehavetopromotethevisionofunity.ThelossandprofitofallPakistanisaremutual.ThereisonlyonedivisioninPakistani.e.
betweenthetyrantandtheoppressed.Thisisadivisionoftheusurperandthedeprived.Asanation,wemustagreethatwewillalwaysside
withthedeprivedandtheoppressed.Weallhavetoworktowardspromotingthisculture.Ifwesucceed,InsahAllahwewill,thenPakistanwill
beahubofpeace,whereallwillenjoyequalrights.Letpledgethatwewillhonestyplayourusefulroletowardsthisend.
