Vote of thanks examples and how to write a brief formal expression of thanks at a special
occasion proposed as a motion at a conference, ceremony or meeting.
How to write a vote of thanks?
In short there are two major
guidelines for the proposer.
The first is refer to the central
message of the speech topics
of the lectures or presentations
given by the previous public

vote of thanks to all speakers for gracing your important work and sharing with us your

A big 'Thank You' to [name speaker], for her/his efforts towards [speech topic]. Refer and
respond to just one central idea of the speaker that you found particularly interesting.
If there are more speakers, then consider these vote of thanks examples:
I must mention our deep sense of appreciation for [name speaker], for her/his explanation
of [speech topic]. Again refer...
Further, we are greatful to [speaker], for demonstrating her/his [speech topic]. [Refer and

Vary in language when using these vote of thanks examples.

Well, Mr. Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, an event like this cannot happen overnight. The
wheels start rolling weeks ago. It requires planning and a birds eye for details. We have
been fortunate enough to be backed by a team of very motivated and dedicated colleagues
of [institute, organization] who know their job and are result oriented.
I cannot thank everyone enough for their involvement and their willingness to take on the
completion of tasks beyond their comfort zones! Vary on these vote of thank examples till

Here are some free birthday toasts that you can use as a simple toast or in a speech for
someone's birthday.
Just to start with let's run over the difference between a speech and a toast. There are two
main differences.
First, a toast is normally shorter than a speech and could be just one or two words.
Second, toasting generally includes a drink.
So, here are some free birthday toasts you might want to use.

Anniversary toasts celebrations should include both nostalgia for past memories and
expressions of hope for the future.
It may be that you want to make a toast to your husband or spouse, or to friends or your
parents. Whichever is the case, the same principles apply.
Also, remember some of the key principles in making toasts. The toast is normally the part
at the end of a speech when everyone drinks to show their support for the words someone
has expressed. For example, Good health or Happy anniversary.
Here are a few suitable for anniversary toasts occasions.
"Congratulations on the first fifty years. You certainly seem to have got the hang of it now.
We wish you all the best for the future."

Introduction of
Guest Speaker Speech
The introduction of guest speaker speech was one of the specific speech topics we
covered on the Dale Carnegie training course I attended many years back.
In fact there is quite a simple formula for introductory speeches.
Well there are probably a number of good ways to introduce a guest speaker, but here's the
one which we were taught.

There are three basic principles:

The final words of your introduction should be the name of the guest speaker. For
example, you can finish with "Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to welcome Bill Gates".

In your introduction of guest speaker speech, do not give your own speech on the
same topic that the guest speaker will be covering.

Instead cover some interesting points about the guest speaker, such as some of their
past achievements or credentials.

Given these three principles let's see how you can put together an introductory speech.
You can start by an upbeat phrase such as "Ladies and gentlemen, we're in for a real treat
tonight"
Then you can say a few sentences build up the credentials of the speaker in the mind of the
audience such as, "Our guest speaker is a man who has been the driving force behind this
project for many years".
Then you finish by giving the name of the speaker - on an upbeat note. (Don't just say "So
without further ado I'll hand over to Bill Gates".)

Anyway, here are two very brief sample introductory speeches. The first uses these three
principles while the second ignores them. See which you think is best:
RECOMMENDED FORMAT "Ladies and gentlemen, we're in for a real treat tonight. Our
guest speaker is a man who has been the driving force behind this project for many years.
He is the person who knows the whole history of how we got to where we are today: the
stories, the challenges and the little known secrets. Not only that but he's a very
entertaining speaker. Please join me in giving a very warm welcome to Stan Smith".

INCORRECT FORMAT "Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce our guest speaker Stan
Smith. Stan is going to talk about the project, and in particular the factor which he thinks
has been the most important to our success: hard work. I agree with Stan. What I think is
most important about hard work is that no-one gets anywhere without hard graft. I mean,
look at all the training those Olympic gold medallists have to go through. Without further
ado then, over to you Stan.".

It is a privilege and a great joy for me to extend a vote of thanks to all those who have
contributed in one way or the other to make this workshop a success.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the Director General of Fisheries Research and Development, Mr.
Maizan Hassan Maniku, has been the driving force behind this whole process. His vision,
interest and hard work has once again culminated in another success story. I wish to thank him
for the efforts he has put into developing this new research agenda for integrated reef resource
management.
The staff of the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture, especially those at Marine Research
