5th Grade Picnic

On Saturday, April 18, the ground was broken on our

new Nature Trail! We want to thank all of the parents,
students, and DFES staff members who came out and sweat
with us as we worked to create a great place to take our
students for learning experiences here at school. We hauled
2 large flatbed trucks of trash, weed wacked, cut and moved
logs, brush, and vines. We raked and dug to help pave our outdoor classroom and
new trail so that it would be safe to take our students on nature walks during the
remainder of the school year! We built signs for the nature trail with old discarded
palletsbut this is only the beginning! We have more work to be done but it was
a great start!
Thank you to the following DFES staff and families for participating: Mr.
and Mrs. Green along with Ellen, Lauren, and Evan, Mrs. White and Deanna, Mr.
Sturkie and Timothy, TreJohn P., Mrs. Winburn and Bryce, Ms. Sumpter and fianc
Richard, Mr. Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. Gibson along with Jalen, Jackie Foster, Suevan
Gentry, Emily Perkins and the Umberger family - who even brought their in-laws!
With Heartfelt Thanks!
