Dear Idaho Power Recruiting Team,

My name is Jesse Caudle and I am a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Idaho,
and I am very interested in Idaho Powers internship opportunities for undergraduates in the
upcoming summer.
Over the last year, I have had exposure to many of the different aspects of Mechanical
Engineering. Between mentoring opportunities and an internship at the Idaho National Lab, I
have gained tremendous experience working in a professional environment with groups as well
as on my own. Along with this I was a part of many processes including conceptual design work,
system modeling, and troubleshooting with designs for quality and failure mode analysis.
Because of this exposure and experience, I have begun developing more personal goals and
aspirations for what I want to be and accomplish as a Mechanical Engineer. As I get closer to
becoming a part of the engineering workforce, I have started pursuing opportunities that I can
make an impact in, as well as be excited and inspired to work on. With that said, Idaho Power
has fit right into that category. Idaho Power as a company to me has been a great example of
what inspiration and engineering can achieve, and with the more experience and knowledge I
have gained in the past years, my interests in being a part of that team have grown as well.
An internship opportunity with Idaho Power would not only be an incredibly experience for me
as an engineer, but it would also be a step in the right direction of where I want to head as a
professional engineer. This internship would be a great chance for me to use the skills I have
gained from past internships and schooling, and apply them to projects and real world
experience.
I hope that I may be in contact with you soon, my email address and phone number is listed
above. Thank you for taking the time to put my resume into consideration, as well as reading
this.
Sincerely,
Jesse Lee Caudle

Created 3D computer models of parts and assemblies software for nuclear fuel handling tools using
Inventor software
Generated solid models for several types of cable winches to demonstrate how they would function in a
larger system for retrieval of nuclear waste. Worked with winch vendors to obtain equipment specifications.
Scheduled and lead the engineering evaluation to determine critical design, operation, and maintenance
factors for equipment reliability. Created a decision matrix with weighting criteria to determine the best
design.
Gained experience in a professional engineering facility, contributing to new designs as well as existing
projects. Worked with ASME code B31.3 process piping document, piping and instrumentation drawings,
failure mode and effect analysis evaluations, and system design descriptions.
Converted technical presentation on cryogenic systems into a PowerPoint presentation
Obtained training in nuclear safety and contamination control.

Technical Knowledge:
Solid Modeling:
Advanced knowledge in programs such as Solid Works and Inventor
Modeled parts and built assemblies using professional drawing packages and conceptual designs
Generated quality rendered images and animations for parts and systems
Produced shop fabrication drawings
3D Printing:
Exposed to handling and operating a 3D printer, along with creating solid models and printing prototypes
Computational Software:
Skilled in programs such as Matlab and Mathcad
Experienced in developing code and changing functions to perform advanced operations and computations
Proficient in creating equation lines for changing input values and conducting mathematical checks

Projects:

Designed a maintenance panel for nuclear applications, used solid modeling to construct, assemble and
animate parts.
Performed research for a contaminated product transfer, and developed a spill pan for storage. Involved
exposure to piping and instrumentation drawings, as well as work with welding specifications and callouts.
Constructed a lifting mechanism to lift a payload and transport it through an obstacle course. Incorporated
Arduino software/coding, Matlab, Solid Works, and 3D printing. Consisted of five machines working
together autonomously.
Helped develop a single point failures list for a nuclear waste building. Developing experience and
exposure with failure mode and effect analysis evaluations.
