Modifying the dSPACE installation, adding new

Question
I want to modify my dSPACE installation, for example to add a new product or to work with several
dongles. What do I have to do?
Solution

Beginning with Release 7.0 a number of changes concerning installation and licensing were
introduced. Hence we strongly recommend to install the latest version of the dSPACE Installation
Manager at first. Download it from http://www.dspace.com/go/imupdate .
The following instructions are valid for Installation Manager versions greater or equal than 3.4.

Below we have explained different scenarios:

Scenario 1

I want to install or remove components of a dSPACE product subsequently.

I want to add licenses for dSPACE products which are not installed yet.

Scenario 2

I want to install dSPACE software for different dongles using a master license file to
install the dSPACE software on several PCs without having to know the number of
the dongle that is actually connected to a particular PC.

Scenario 3

My dSPACE products are already installed but I want to work with different dongles
on this PC. How can I add the corresponding licenses for the additional dongle?

Scenario 4

My demo licenses expired and I got a replacement from dSPACE. How can I renew
my local licenses?

Scenario 1 Install or remove components of a dSPACE installation subsequently

If you want to modify the installation, for example, to add or remove single products or product
components, you have to use the dSPACE Maintenance Setup for the corresponding product (e.g.,
RCP&HIL Maintenance Setup or ControlDesk Next Generation Maintenance Setup)
1. Start the dSPACE Maintenance Setup from the Windows Start menu.
Start Programs - dSPACE <product> <x.y> menu - dSPACE Maintenance Setup <product>
<x.y>
2. Select the option Modify Installation.
3. Specify the location of the license information files (*.dsp).
For dSPACE release 7.1 and earlier:
If you want to install a new license-protected dSPACE product that comes with separate license
files you must merge the license files of the new product and the license files of the existing
system first. Please refer to Scenario 2.
4. In the Select Components dialog specify all the products you want to add or remove and continue
with the setup wizard.

Scenario 2 Install the dSPACE software for different execution keys & merging license files
If you want to install the dSPACE software on several PCs without having to know the number of the
dongle that is actually connected to a particular PC you can merge license files for different dongles
that belong to the same DVD (dSPACE Release) in a master license file. Use the dSPACE Installation
Manager to merge the license files.
1. Start the dSPACE Installation Manager
Start Programs - dSPACE Installation Manager
2. Activate the Licenses tab.
In the dSPACE Licensing window, click the Merge Installation Key Files tab.
3. Click Add file and specify the path of the first license files (ZIP or PIZ) in the file open dialog.
Repeat this step for all the license files you want to merge.
4. Select the checkboxes of all the license files you want to merge.
5. Click Merge.

Use the dSPACE Master Setup to install the dSPACE software with your master license file. The
Master Setup automatically executes the required installation setups in the correct order.

Scenario 3 How to add new licenses to a specific local license file

If you want to add new licenses to an already existing installation, for example if you want to add
licenses for an additional dongle, proceed in the following way:

Start the dSPACE Installation Manager

Start Programs - dSPACE Installation Manager

Click the Licenses tab.

In the dSPACE Licensing window, click the Manage Runtime Licenses tab.

Click the Renew and add by file button

In the next dialog click the

license file and click Open.

Click OK to renew and add the licenses. The following dialog appears when the process has
finished:

Scenario 4 How to renew licenses in a local license file

If you want to renew expired licenses in your local license file proceed in the following way:

Start the dSPACE Installation Manager

Start Programs - dSPACE Installation Manager

Click the Licenses tab.

In the dSPACE Licensing window, click the Manage Runtime Licenses tab.

Click the Renew by file button.

In the file open dialog, select the path of the new ZIP or PIZ license file and click Open. The
following dialog appears when the process has finished:
