Aimed at unlocking the ingenious of the African Diaspora to tackle social


issues, DDCH attendees will mobilize with fellow participants at one of our
partner locations or within their own communities. Event-goers will segment
into team and spend the day overcoming technical challenges and developing
prototypes on behalf of dynamic organizations such as the The Peace Corps,
The Dream Defenders, United Negro College Fund, Asante Africa Foundation &
more.

ORGANIZERS

TIphubs Diaspora Day of Civic Hacking is a global day of advocacy and


hackathon that pairs technologists and community leaders to brainstorm
on and build out digital solutions for organizations that strengthen and
support Diaspora communities around the world.

than $3.6 billion to help more than 400,000

Asante Africa Foundation - Asante
Africa Foundations programs
provide sustainable solutions that
help disadvantaged children gain a
solid education. What began as a
two-village project, led by three women with a
passion for youth and education, has expanded to
over 26 partnerships (and counting) with schools
in 31 villages in Kenya and Tanzania. Over 660
teachers and 30,000 students have directly
benefited from primary and secondary school
scholarships, training for youth and teachers
and the 69 infrastructure projects completed to
date, including classrooms, student dormitories,
latrines and water tanks.

The Dream Defenders - The Dream Defenders
develop the next generation of radical leaders
to realize and exercise our independent
collective power; building alternative systems
and organizing to disrupt the structures that
oppress our communities.
BudgIT - BudgIT is a creative start-up driven
to retell the Nigerian budget and public
data in a finer detail across every literacy
span. The company aims to stimulate citizens
interests around public data and hence trigger discussions
towards better governance.BudgIT believes that access and
understanding to the budget is a basic human right.

The Peace Corps - As the preeminent
international service organization of the United
States, the Peace Corps sends Americans abroad
to tackle the most pressing needs of people
around the world. Peace Corps Volunteers work
at the grassroots level toward sustainable
