Editorial
Editorial
Three decades ago, with the inception for a new English Medium school
in the bucolic hills of Pothenpuram, a grand hope was born in our
villages. A hope which promised that their children were privileged with
an opportunity to acquire quality education, and a platform to have their
inbred skills to be nurtured, developed and exhibited.
Legacy cannot be passed down by just recollection of conscience. It has to
be stamped out, documented and displayed as a souvenir. The significance
of documentation is for the future generations, as we read from the Holy
Bible For whatever things were written before were written for our
learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might
have hope-(Romans 15:4).
The past editions of Blossom Buds is an excellent memoir, for everything
we have seen in this blessed educational institution. Yet many more to
come- many talents, many accomplishments, activities and developments.
Heraclitus quotes Change is the only constant in life. Blossom Buds
is too in a new path, with a new-fangled crew motivated by the same
philosophy, LIGHT LEADS TO WISDOM.
We bow our heads with gratitude to the Almighty and lend appreciation
to the many hands that have helped to shape the individual petals of this
years Blossom Buds. Forgive, if any shortcomings of a novel effort by a
group of literary aficionados.

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. These
words posses a great meaning to think and act for the ignited minds. Often
my mother reminds me that the student life is the most beautiful and joyful
time where your sole objective is to gain knowledge. Quoting the great
Russian writer Maxim Gorky When work is a pleasure, life is a joy and
when work is a duty, it is a slavery.
This is a time of great changes. In education too, we see fast changes.
The student today is an individual, is a real person with feelings of
self respect, sensitivity, responsibility and compassion. We need to
recognize, appreciate, applaud and foster the fine blend of sensibilities
in a child. Always BMM attains its inevitable position in all the sectors
of education through achievements of its buds. The school is a metonym
of encouragement and success. Blossom Buds is a collection of literary
skills, strong view points, artistic talents and loads of memories. The
success behind the blooming Blossom buds is due to the hard work and
initiative of numerous people who passed a breathing life into these pages.

The

Positive
ower of

Isnt
it
as true as
daylight
that
no matter how big
and strong, young
or old, we thrive on
encouragement? We all
like a bit of praise. We
want to feel valued. We want
the effort we have put in to be
appreciated. It is true too that
some of us need this more than
others. Some are more aware and
confident of who they are.

If we are this self-confident and happy person, the

reason is probably due, in no small measure, to the
encouragement we received when we were learning.
We were told that what we were doing was good.
We saw where we were going and we knew that our
efforts, in part, propelled us there.
Whatever your subject or discipline, there is a bigger
lesson at stake in the classroom. It is one that does not
focus on Maths, science, languages or IT. It is the vital
lesson that shows that it is no big deal to get confused
or to make mistakes. It is the lesson that we are all here
to help each other.
Obviously such an approach is going to pay dividends
in the classroom. It is going to reap far more rewards
than negative criticism possibly could. Think how you
dislike being criticised.
This is the case, even
when we know we
may be in the
wrong. It
is hard
for
us

18

Blossom Buds 2014-15

Feedback

to separate criticism for what we have done, from a

personal assault. Nobody likes criticism - be it us, the
parents or students. Not only do we initially reject
this criticism, we have a reflex to defend our actions.
In some circumstances, weakness is aligned with
accepting criticism. When a defence is mounted, a
confrontation ensues. A confrontation has losers. This
does nothing to foster the good relations and mutual
respect that is essential in a classroom in order to
promote good learning.
The way we handle feedback, praise and criticism in a
classroom setting is a vital area for attention. Mistakes
are the testimony of effort made. This is testimony
that we are human beings. The classroom needs to be
a place where mistakes are made happily, easily and
without fear of negative sentiment. In an ideal world,
all relationships would be ones which were strong and
based on trust and mutual respect. It is essential for
any teacher that good relationships are established as
quickly as possible. It is easy to see that a student is
far more likely to respond to favourable remarks and
positive encouragement.
We all need support from our peers, teachers and
friends. We all seek approval. At some times we are
more motivated than others and at other times we need
to be given a booster. This is not, however, an excuse
for blanket praise. Mistakenly, simply praising pupils
is sometimes used as a method of controlling difficult
students. Praise, if it is not directed properly, can even
have a negative effect. It
has been shown that
pupils determination,
curiosity and focus
on a task can be
severely hampered
by the wrong sort
of praise.

highlights why the compliment is being paid rather

than simply the individual. Specific feedback should
come from the teacher and be private. It should focus
on the improvement and the efforts. The same feedback
should avoid comparisons with others. It is hard to
reconcile the enthusiasm and pleasure that children
often display in learning with the later loss of desire,
enthusiasm and even self-esteem. The way we respond
to pupils plays a vital role in fostering and maintaining
a desire to learn. Children have an intrinsic desire to
discover and understand. Broad praise serves only to
associate the finishing of a task in return for a reward
or compliment. The real mission of a teacher is to
teach the satisfaction that comes from completing the
task itself. Positive encouragement should be used to
that end.
Encouragement works to give a pupil, self-belief
and autonomy. It should encourage experimentation
and the making of mistakes. It should create an
environment in which students do not have to fear
evaluation, but one that
gives them the confidence
to evaluate their own
work and behaviour. Did
humiliation or punitive
and negative criticism
make you braver and
encourage you to
try again? Or
did it simply
make you
fearful of
mockery or
exposure?
Fear
of
making
mistakes

means that learning can only be restricted. How many

of your good learning experiences influenced your
choice of subjects and interests? It is easy to see that
expectations at a very early stage have serious knock
on effects.
Motivation is a powerful tool. Used positively and
specifically it can encourage us on to great things. If
we can sense this in ourselves then we can sense it in
others.
I conclude with this poemWe all need praise in our lives
It helps us to feel good
To know weve been successful
And done just as we should
To give that blessed feeling
To others is a gift
By which we can encourage them
And give their lives uplift
Failings part of lifes grand game
Overcoming it brings no shame
So teach them all what they mean
That theyre important, make them keen
Encourage them and you will find
Theyll leave their failures far behind

continue the standards of great academic records
which have been established by the cent percent

The scholastic year started formally on 5th May

2014. Our school community consists of 1824
Students from LKG to Std.XII. with 903 boys
and 921 girls. The staff strength of the school
consists of 86 Teachers and 31 support staff.
Let me place on record our achievements in
the curricular and co-curricular field. The pass
percentage of Std.XII was 100, with high quality
result in all subject. In class XII Science stream,
Nibu John Mathew stood highest with 96.2 %
and in Commerce Rohan Baker Fenn secured
the highest with 94.4percentage. Many students
received merit certificate from CBSE for their
excellent performance in various subjects. Many
students got admitted in various professional
courses like Medicine & Engineering.

This is an area where we have set ourselves as

a benchmark and there is only a single point of
competition which is arguably with ourselves, in
improving upon the results of the previous batch.

COMMUNICATION PROCESS IN ADOLESCENCE

A POST MODERN THINKING
School age ,as defined
by Erick Erickson, is
a period of industry vs.
inferiority. This stage is
crucial in the development
of self- confidence in children.
The period where, a child is capable
of doing
complex tasks; which includes a
variety of social and academic skills. These skills
make them capable of initiating to future course of
action. This is the crucial period where parents and
teachers attention is needed to acknowledge the
talents and praise the commenced work done by them.
Children who are encouraged and commended by
parents and teachers develop a feeling of competence
and belief in their skills. Those who receive little or
no encouragement from parents, teachers, or peers
will doubt their ability to be successful. We often
see this doubtfulness in school life. The unfortunate
existence in our school paradigm is that we have
usages flurrying in, from parental and instructor
authorities. Look at the positive side of many
deliberations that kids do for recognition. Why have
these regressed in to almost childish or violent acts?
Because we have this constant act of looking beyond
what is called as explicit reality. We almost have
our parental injunction so over ruling and expects
from a little child on an adult ! This make a dual role
confusion and ultimately to a feeling of guilt in their
innocent intuition.
It is from this point when a child steps into his/her
adolescent period, there is another psychological
stage namely identity vs.role confusion. The
predominant insecurity in this period is a constant
thought of how they may fit into the society? Teens
deliberately need a sense of identity and always look
for clarifying who am I? I believe that most of
our teens insecurities and identity confusions breed
from our families in which many are compelled to
model an external identity which is recognized by
a society as supreme. The role model impact and
instances of a successful personality are healthy up to
a certain extent, until it only stays as a model point.
If it breaches and take shape a compulsion then its
unhealthy. In this period, communication patterns in
the family is crucial, as it might be capable of clarifying
to the teens, who they are and how unique they are in

their body, intellect and emotions. Interaction, which
is meaningful from a balanced mature state, should
happen . This could also be re- conceptualized as
spending of quality time together. We should
know the nuclear reality of our interaction pattern
and how well we spend our time, ensuring quality
in our parenting and interactions. The deprivation
of this emotional recognition about the uniqueness
of a teens identity, is purely transferred into a neo
liberal and postmodern reality called as Social
Networking. Now we are almost familiar with the
concept of cyber addiction. Consider the following
literature:

The years of adolescence are a time open to an earnest

search for personal values, a fundamental component
of self-identity construction. Teens thrive on selfreflection at this stage in life and a shift from exterior
to interior dialectic thinking processes avenue to
exercise new decision making skills. A confident
sense of self-trust is needed to communicate ones
chosen values and other self-concepts and without
it, testing, adjusting, acceptance or rejection of
these, impact of internet on adolescent is thus selfidentity development ,internal constructs can enter a
prolonged or adopted stage of inner conflict where a
sense of dualism results
Dualism is not just about an inner conflict of a teen.
But the way he/she adopts
to socialize, in a bizarre
way. I cant imagine how
much, electronic switches and
emojis can communicate from their
identity crisis. The way in which
the communication process gets
transferred now are to seek one thumb like
for a recent picture that has
been posted. Expecting a like
by other is not through benevolent
attitude to others, but perceiving
through electronic response how my
picture is praised by the society?
Moreover, a vigorous pattern of
communication proceeds to the next
level; that is finding intimacy soon.
Accessibility and privacy factors in
so-called chat rooms are one of the

unscientific ways of socializing and developing

intimacy.Teenage conflicts, finds a triangulation to
one such cyber engagement ; that takes shapes as love
affair, and confusion and emotional fuse continues to
flourish.
Since the Internet is a conglomeration of easily
manipulated relationship and information not bound
by real time constraints, it can often lack continuity.
Erikson (1965,1968) has underscored the importance
of continuity as an internal and external factor that
builds up ego strength needed for achieved identities.
Ego strength produces a fidelity or inner conviction
and surety about ones direction in life. (Cited from;
Janet H Long The Impact of Internet usage on
adolescent Self Identity development).
The basic question in here is how well our teens can
continue with their identity, in a directionless online
world of insecure and enmeshed relationships. We
have to realize chat room induced syndromes could
be detrimental to the personality development of our
children, that is how hard they manage to stay out
from their family and real world. All inhibitions
that one faces in real world are diminished in the
cyber world. You do not need a body language for
communications, but loose clangs and associative
wording would do to help you. These transactions
are Duplex transactions in the world, which means
that a casual and continuous talk over chat boxes,
to a person whom we meet regularly, has much
implications of a hidden consuming highly enjoyable
and even a deviation ,which can fall into a category of
obsession and regulated instincts that can get a dais
for expression. This can create even more confusion
about ones own identity and certainly doubt our
institutionalized mechanisms. Imagine how fatal it
would be if this precious age, looses an institution
for wisdom and cling on to the cyber dependency
to expect their acceptance through attractions and
repulsions.

realiable and capable. Love doesnt mean making

them to learn that they are life long dependent to
parents. Assign them responsibility , make their
identity mature .This will steer them with respect and
self-confidence. Dealing with the need of autonomy
and independence are crucial; that is where your
parental style should be permissive and indulgent
not to an authoritarian figure, who give commands
of no and flurry of advices, which you cannot even
fulfill, in this age. This will for sure prevent them

his image and

Narrow steps of stones

Smolders one over the other
Walls on both sides, thick with weeds as morons
Propelling to giggle and prick and bother
The rare breed of Bhagvan Kathir
Portraying forgotten memories.

Rushed two playful children,

relieved after days school
as if they are in Eden.
Swam across the deep pool
Caught fishes and filled bottles
With calves and goats merried and thrilled
Howlings and laugher; the awakened dreamy hills
rejoiced,chanted and trilled.
Cocks alarmed the days
break; call to carry milk to the Grandma
Who lived near my Goddess
A little girl, a milk tumbler in palm,
accompanied a boy in trousers,
Hand in hand walked beside the stream.
Thrown stones jumped like frogs
Counted water snakes in ream

HAUNTING
MEMORIES

Reached the sanctum of my Goddess

Offered milk in a pit as a relic
Offering to the Goddess!!
Ants in row enjoyed the milk
Followed the custom for years.
Why less milk? the grandma complained.
Eyes gleamed; acted as if they didnt know.
Yes, a secret never revealed.

Still feeling hand in hand

Searching for the boy in trousers.
A shelter from raised brows and pointed fingers
But void, silence and silence.
Perhaps the Goddess might have forgotten
my offerings.

The Call
The call sets our roles,
For that we are sent;
But I stuck to selfish goals,
Never caring about the end.

God's call is precious,

The wise knows its worth;
But my way was mysterious,
Never counting my days on earth.
The Lord calls me "Gem,"
A gem to share the mirth;
But I lived like a worm,
Never wondering about my birth.
God the Father wants me hear,
His call and follow;
But I was in a fire of fear,
Never knowing He will hallow.
His call is still and stable,
His mastery brings victory;
Now I know, I will be able,
Ever praising His glory.

Parenting

ADHD,
THE SCOURGE
OF CHILDHOOD

Have difficulty in waiting for things they want

or waiting their turns in games.

Often interrupt
activities.

Losing things (e.g., pencils, toys, and

assignments) needed to complete tasks or
activities.

Be constantly in motion
Have difficulty doing quiet tasks or activities.
Be very impatient.
Utter inappropriate comments, show their
emotions without control, and act without
regard for any consequences.

MS. JOBY C. JOSEPH

HOD Science

ear parents, is your child inattentive, impulsive, absent- minded, undisciplined or disobedient even after all your efforts in correcting him/
her? Beware; perhaps your child may be suffering
from ADHD.
ttention deficit hyperactivity disorder
(ADHD) is one of the most common childhood disorders that can continue through adolescence and adulthood. Boys are four times at risk
than girls. Symptoms include difficulties in focusing ones mind and paying attention, difficulty in

or

others

Not seem to listen when spoken to

arents and teachers may fail to understand that
children with symptoms of inattention have
the disorder because they are often quiet and less
likely to express. They may sit quietly, seeming
to work, but they are often not paying attention to
what they are doing. They may get along well with
other children, compared with those with the other
subtypes, who tend to have social problems. But
children with the inattentive kind of ADHD are not
the only ones whose disorders can be missed. For
example, adults may think that children with the
hyperactive and impulsive subtypes just have emotional or disciplinary problems. Many parents may
even think these problems may eventually go away
as they grow up, but this does not happen.
reatments include medication, various types
of psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, education
or training, or a combination of treatments.
Treatments can relieve many of the
disorders symptoms, but there
is no cure. Medications are
only recommended as a firstline treatment in children who
have severe symptoms.
hildren with ADHD need
guidance and understanding from their parents and
teachers to reach their full

controlling behaviour and hyperactivity or overactivity that are not appropriate for a persons age.
For a definitive diagnosis to be made, these symptoms must begin by age six to twelve and persist
for more than six months, to a degree that is greater
than other children of the same age. In school-going students, inattention problems often result in
poor school performance. They also tend to prefer
shortcuts, rather than taking the steps needed to
achieve greater rewards.
he cause of most cases of ADHD is unknown;
however, it is believed to involve interactions between genetic and environmental factors.
ADHD has three subtypes: Predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, or
a combination of both. The major symptoms include the following:
Being restless, twist and turn in their seats
Talk non-stop
Keep running around, touching or playing with
anything and everything in sight

conversations

potential and to succeed in school. Parents and

children may need special help to overcome bad
feelings. Mental health professionals can educate
parents about ADHD. They will also help the child
and his or her parents in developing new skills, attitudes, and ways of relating to each other.

Tips to Help Kids with ADHD

eep the same routine every day, from waking

up to bedtime. Include time for homework,
outdoor play, and indoor activities. Keep and pin
the schedule in a place that can be easily be noted.
Have a place for everything and keep everything in
its place. This includes clothing, school bags, and
toys. Children with ADHD often receive and expect criticism. Look for good behaviour and praise
it.
ear parents, please
find out the actual
problem of your child by
watching him/her closely, discussing with his/
her teachers and seek
professional help as
early as possible because
with treatment he/she can
fare better and lead a productive and successful life.

If you don't listen to the little stuff when (your children) are little, they won't tell you the big stuff
when they are big, because to them, all of it has always been big stuff." - Catherine M. Wallace

Are We Failures?

Seasons

Bivin V Varghese, X B

Seasons are wonderful creation

Which embellish the earthly life
The powerful Gods beautiful creation
That qualifies the maintenance of life

And winter season with freezing white pouring

By the blankly appearance of white
And spring with beautiful flowering
This is a stunning sight

Seasons are the truthful protectors

That rejoice the life on earth
Enlightened by the life protector
That prevents the globe not to be a hearth

And finally summer season with pleasant heat

That empowers leafy life
The different tiers under seasons feet
That enriches creatures life

Rainy season with enchanted showering

By the flow of the beautiful golden splinter
And autumn with the alternate greenish shedding
By the fall of brown leafy folded foliage

Seasons are a beautiful site

Which recreates our mind over
The cheerful endless site
That prevails on earth forever

IN THE DESERT DESERTED

The chilling winter wind blew hard on his face. The temperature
had again fallen below and now it was standing on minus twenty
degree celsius. This place is none other than the magnificently
beautiful snow world Kashmir. Even though Rahul had worn on
a heavy leather jacket and inside that a woollen sweater too, the
cold still reached inside his body. It felt like someone was stabbing
him with thousands of needles all over his body. Oh! It was really
cold. He felt himself unable to stand there. But the view from there
was breath taking. The Himalayas stood ahead with their head held
high, real high. He doubted whether they touched the sky really or
not. And up there on the top, sunlight reached only on the higher
peaks and created a magical effect. This was something magical,
mesmerizing and Rahul was seeing something like this for the first
time in his entire life.
Rahul Malhotra was born in Rajasthan, the burning hot desert land.
Sun was all that was visible in the sky everyday with no beads of
cloud to adorn it. He loved his place, the heat, the sun and above
all, his family. The only son of his parents, Rahul married his love,
Anushka and had three pretty daughters. Family was his life and
his paradise. He worked, earned money and even lived for them.
Anything that would harm them was his enemy and anything that
they loved was his duty to provide.

Are failures called to be the real

success of life?? When I look
back, sometimes I feel I am
a real failure in my life.
While looking at my friends,
lost mother, ever falling
academic performance and
the list goes on
But there stays an old
saying To be a champion, you need
to fight one more round. I usually
fight with the bitterness of failures
because I need to taste the sweetness
of success. Only tireless pursuit can
create winners. Success comes
to those who try and never tire.
We must remember, success
cannot be achieved in a day. The
road to success is not an easy one;
it has many hurdles in order to
achieve the desired target.
A person who loves success must
work hard to achieve the goals which
he or she likes. In reality, the path of
success is full of thorns with failures,

and with each failure one gets closer to success

and with each fall one rises higher because
within each failure, there is a hidden lesson on
success.
Look at a bird in the sky, how it flutters and
fails. How its wings quiver as it makes its first
attempt to fly. It tries and fails but it does not
give up. Every great man and woman around
the world had their share of failures before
reaching their desired goals. The words of
our former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
inspired millions of people all around the
world to dream, to dream big and those dreams
cultivate into thoughts and actions.
Therefore one should never lose hope but
keep on trying, till he succeeds. Who knows,
this is the last round
and you are declared a
champion.
Hope for the best!

Simon T Anthrayose
12 C

It was a happy day as always in his home. As his custom, he touched the feet
of his parents before going to work. And when he turned to go, his daughters
asked him to buy them a doll. He promised them that he would and gave them
each a kiss. Alas! He never knew then that the promise would never be fulfilled
and those kisses were the last for them. The rest still remained a nightmare.
Gunshots, the chaos, the terrorist attacks, people running around, a bomb blast
and all that remained were ruins in the desert sand.
He bowed down to the earth and wept bitterly aloud. He looked and searched
for his family. Nothing... He was all alone desolated and deserted in the desert.
Months of depression passed next. He lived like a dead man, no hope, no
purpose in life. Loneliness haunted him everywhere. After three months he
found a helping hand for his shoulder. His friend asked him to join the Indian
Army and fight against the terrorists that ruined his life. And now a year after,
there he is, the soldier Rahul. He doesnt feel alone as
he has a whole nation with him and it is his duty to defend
his nation from those terrorists who took away his family.
Rahul felt the cold not bitter on him, but rather challenging.
Joining the army had changed his life and has given him a
reason to live. He got up from his place and walked towards
his camp to do his duty, to fulfil his promises...

Friendship in Me
The world is crowded with numerous individuals
of mixed characters and desires who cannot be
easily predicted. None of these folks wishes to live
an isolated life. Do you wish to be isolated and
independent till the end? Every single one of us
depends up-on someone, because hu-man beings
need su-pport in one way or another throughout
their life. To an extent, people depend upon
others for acquiring
their own demands,
and unfortunately,
majority of the
modern era takes
friendship as an
opportunity
for
fulfilling
selfish
intentions. Is this
the
real
nature
of
friendship?
My kind of friendship
is entirely different from
the one already mentioned
and I totally reject the
idea of depending only for
gaining. I cannot explain
friendship
merely
by
words because I never talk
friendship, I express it. It is
something to be expressed
and felt An authentic,
unique
and
marvellous
relationship among beings. It must contain
intangible elements such as love,
help, trust, openness and beyond
all truth. It is a fact that true
friends hardly exist around us
and it upsets me a lot. Everyone
dreams of an understanding,
reliable and truthful friend to
step into his life. Sadly, few
Robin Jacob exist who are aware of reality
12 C
that true friendship comes into
60

Blossom Buds 2014-15

being only in the presence of unconditional love.

Instantly, we dwell in a domain where morality
crumbles. Mankind of the present, hustle behind
temptation. Today, friendship is formed for a definite
period and purpose. Sincere people are deceived
into traps by tricksters labelling themselves as
friends. There occurs to be another class who
pretend to be best friends
forever and later on avoids,
hurts and abandons friends
when purposes have been
fulfilled. Most of them
choose friends by beauty
and wealth!
You will never earn
a true friendship if you
belong to the above
category. There is an
easy way to identify true
friends. A true friend
should be someone who
sees the truth and pain
in you even when you
are fooling everyone
else. A person like
this never leaves
you behind when
you are broken and
never makes you
feel lonely when you are
in need. A true friend is never sympathetic but
always empathetic.
Concealing facts among each other and believing
things without evidence are the worst attitudes
I expect from my friends. It leads to suspicion,
conflict and finally hatred. The sole solution is
sharing. I assure you that sharing ones own thought
and emotions, especially sorrows with a friend you
trust, provide an incomparable satisfaction, more
than any material possession can provide you. Be
open to your friend, care for the person and the rest
will follow you.

My School life
Life is the past years textbook
No one wants to take a second look;
Reading through its pages
Its like living in wonder ages.

While in the playschool we scream

Rejecting even promises of chocolates.
But we go to the primary
With a head as cool as a pool;
We go to high school and
Try not to look back
Then comes higher secondary
Its the end of school dictionary;
And here in the hall our happy days,
Our school life comes to an end.

Along with Memories

Bibi Skaria
XB

How long since I left my friends?

How far they were from me?
Did they forget me? I dont know
Im here with beautiful memories.
The day we met the first time
Sharing sorrow and joy
Moping my tears when I weep
Everything came to me on my screen
Our teachers helped us as shade of tree
Though we feel burden of study
They filled many pages in my memories,
Now I live in reminiscences.
Tears dropped off from my eyes,
As the flame of love burns
I entered the train expecting to join again
Along with my memories.

Counselling and
Guidance
Counselling is the provision of assistance and
guidance in resolving personal or psychological
problems. Counselling is not something to be
ashamed of, rather it is something to be proud
of. It is a process when a client and a counsellor
set aside time to explore difficulties, which may
include the stressful or emotional feelings of the
client. It is the act of helping the client to see things
more clearly, possibly from a different view point.
This can enable the client to focus on feelings,
experiences or behaviour with
a goal to facilitate positive
change. It is the relationship
of trust.
Confidentiality is paramount
for successful counselling.
Counselling is not merely
giving advice, judging or attempting
to sort out the problems of the client, but expecting
or encouraging a client to behave in a way in
which a counsellor would have behaved
when confronted with a similar problem in
his own life.
Counselling is a helping approach

that highlights the emotional and intellectual

experience of a client, how a client feels and
thinks about the problem he has sought help for.
The practice of counselling is neither a magical nor
a mysterious service, but a very real and person
oriented service. It is not a bandage therapy.
Some clients gain enormous relief
by sharing their problems with a
councillor, for matters they are
not able to share with their loved
ones or people close to them.
Counselling and therapy
offer a variety of positive
benefits in a persons life. The
benefits of counselling include a
greater degree of self- awareness
and understanding. This improves
self esteem and confidence which
reflects in his personal relationships, providing
him knowledge, direction and clarity of mind.
Counselling makes an individual feel more inspired,
motivated and organized.
Consider it a personal gift and investment for your
future.

Yoga - The Track to

Holistic Well Being
Yoga is a traditional
method of meditation developed by the saints of
ancient India. They practiced yoga as an effective
method of controlling the mind and bodily
activities. Yoga in daily life is a system
of practice consisting of eight levels
of development in the areas of
physical, mental, social and
spiritual health. When the body
is physically healthy, the mind is
often clear, focused and stress
is under control. This gives the
space to connect with loved
ones and social relations. Man is
a physical, mental and spiritual
being. Yoga helps to promote
a balanced development of all
the three. Other forms of physical
exercises like aerobics assure only
physical well being and they have little
to do with the development of the spiritual or
astral body. Yoga exercises recharge the body with
cosmic energy. This facilitates the attachment of
perfect equilibrium and harmony. The saying goes
like this Yoga is not a religion it is a way of living,
its aim is a healthy mind in a healthy body
The art of practicing yoga helps in controlling
an individual's mind, body and soul. It brings
together physical, mental and spiritual disciplines
to achieve a peaceful body and mind and also
helps in managing stress, anxiety and keeps you

relaxing. It also helps in increasing flexibility,

muscle strength and body tone. It improves
respiration, energy and vitality. Practicing
yoga might seem like just stretching,
but it can do much more for your
body from the way you feel, love
and move.
Yoga is just the right medicine
for all types of ailments and
acts as the best refresher for
the human body, mind and
soul. Hence everyone must
start practicing yoga exercises
daily to remain healthy and fit
for the rest of your
life.

Now we are going to be the outgoing students

Past years are going to be our memories,
How fast is this 14 years past
Like a horse that runs fast.
We are thankful to God,
For providing such wonderful teachers
Such wonderful friends
And also for studying here,
Our classmates, our school mates
Are going to be our dream mates.
Now the time has reached
to say GOODBYE to this heaven
Before we leave, we have to say something
To all that is
Dont forget us
Forgive our deeds

Flight of

Dreams

Finally the day has come. I couldnt control my heart

beating like a bullet train; the night was filled with
anxiety and a little fear. I am Anaditha, and Im a
Tamilian from a remote village of Tamilnadu. I still
remember gazing up the sky just to have a sight of the
thing, flying high up the sky. We were cursed with
poverty those days. My father used to say that only the
fortunate have the chance to travel in those. We were
not so fortunate. As a child this was the end of my hope.
But my will power did not give up that easily. I wanted
to know more about that thing, my father understood
my dreams and sent me to a school. I was so happy that
I was the first girl from my village to go to a school.
I studied to achieve my ultimate goal. By the way, I
understood that thing was an aeroplane. It was the
day of graduation. Ananditha Shivram Graduated in
Aerospace Engineering as a gold medalist. It took me a
while to rewind my past. Now Im standing before my
ultimate dream. Today I am a pilot and Im ready for
my first flight. My thoughts savaged my mind. What
will happen? Will everyone be safe? What if there is an
accident?
I stepped in, prayed to God and toggled the throttle for
the ignition. I started weeping like a small child who

remembered
my past, my
feelings and
my dreams All
those days when I wanted to fly high in the sky. Among
all the passengers in the flight
there was one special person- my
father who realized how big the
world was. I understood he was as
proud as a lion from his face which
showed excitement from the usual
indifference. He said Now my

A WILD WISH

I wish I were a child again

To play with toys and kiddy cards;
To wipe my face upon my sleeve
After blotching it with candy bars.
I long to be a child again
To make messy, muddy pies,
To be free from studies and homework
And the childish world of pride and vice;

I long to be a child again

To be hugged and petted and listened to
To howl and wail, if I feel like it
And be free from frowns and scoldings too.
I wish I could be a child again
I know it is a wish thats very wild
But life would be pleasant indeed
If we could retain the innocence of a child.

A smile is a wonderful bow
Which makes us energetic when we are low;
Best medicine one can suggest
to end sorrow, it is the best;
When you fail to reach your goal,
Or when there is a pain in your soul;
A smile is a great relief
Which help you overcome your greif.
A face without smile is vile,
So smile atleast for a while;
If you deliver it to one
It will get passed to ten.
A smile solves everything;
It is more than something,
A smile is so powerful
It makes everyone cheerful.

MOTHER THE FIRST AND THE BEST TEACHER

The purest thing in the world is the heart of the

mother, the heart chakra, the centre of the mother
Yogi Bhajan
Mother is the one who plays a great role in a
childs life. Yes, it is very true that mothers are
the first and the best teachers. The baby who
spends most of the time with the mother will
always learn from her. Mother is a childs most
trusted friend, who can teach kids to open their
minds for the challenges of life. A child learns
speaking, interacting, moving and all basics
from the mother.

Jewish Proverbs says God could not be

everywhere and therefore He made mothers.
This world is like a school and everyday is a
new lesson. A child learns the basic principles
of life first from his home and then from the
surroundings. It becomes a building block of his life. While we know mother as a protector,
a doctor, the most important amongst all is mother as a teacher. When children are seeing
their mother as a teacher, they can surely improve their progress in both academic and
personal life. The character and behaviour of a child often depends upon the teachings of
mother, as the famous saying is , Mothers lap is a childs first school

Life is a long journey

And we are travellers
A travel from a mothers womb
Till it ends in frozen grave
Its a journey through mist and fog
Through valleys of roses and thorns
Through fear, pain and uncertainty
Through joy, fun and happiness
We stumble in our journey
Fall we do in troubles
Cry aloud in pain and
Weep again in sorrows
But stops it not in these troubles
Instead fight until the end
Many may fall in fighting
But survive does the brave
Life journeys through storms
Through rash seas and gusts,
But lets leave footprints on the sands of time
For those who follow to inspire
And finish the journey in triumph

AN AERIAL TRIP
Date : 25th September 2014
Time : 8.50 am
This was the place I was waiting eagerly,
to be at. I had started from the Dayara by 6
am in the morning and travelled to the queen
of the Arabian Sea where I was supposed to
board my first flight.
The Kochi international airport was a
huge place with a great ambience. I, along with
thirty one teachers entered the security gate of
the airport. After the routine security check, we
were asked to occupy the chairs in the lounge. After a
while it was time to board the plane. It was very big and
had many windows. Inside the aeroplane, an air hostess
guided us to our seats. Fortunately, I was seated near a
window. Soon, all the seats were occupied and then the
airhostess started explaining how to fasten the seatbelt
and how to use the oxygen mask in case of emergency.
Soon the flight started moving. For a minute, it ran
like a car bumping along the ground. Then, it gained
speed and began to rise higher and higher. I gazed through
the window. Everything on the ground became smaller
and smaller. A river looked like a silver thread, roads
appeared as thin line, fields looked like carpets and big

vehicles
were like
small toys. What
a wonderful sight
to see the arrays of
coconut trees!
Before much long, the plane
began to descend very gently. For
a while it repositioned itself on the
runway and stood still. It was the
most pleasant experience I ever
had in my life.

Snowy Mountain
Im in a paradise, set above the skies
Its calm, its cold, Its the fairy land
Had a great time staying here for a thousandOf years, but now my time has come, its hard!

Its a brutal exploitation those creatures

Joy and charm remains to the past only in memories
It has turned not, still in winter
This summer would take half my life

Im still young, still a growing seed;

My time has come, Ive lost my power,
Im dying, actually; for the sake of greed.
Im melting, turning thin in each summer.

Still suffering from those outlaws

My only hope is their next generation;
With love, castle of snow queen
Land of the snow, declining snow-man.

Ive lost my beauty, Im sun-razed

Has got lots of those ugly rays
The snow has gone; its now covered with those
Foreign things I had never seen or felt.

Grave Concern for Snakes

WHY SHOULD BOYS HAVE

ALL THE FUN???

Today Indian women have excelled in each and

every field, from social work to visiting space
stations. There is no arena which remains
unconquered by Indian women. Whether it is
politics, sports, entertainment, literature
or technology, everywhere we can hear
applauses for HER.

Indian women have mastered anything

and everything women can dream of.
The constitution of India grants equality
to women in various fields of life.
But SHE still has to go a long way to
achieve equal status in the minds of
Indian men. In order to help women
to be in the limelight, they need to
be empowered. Empowerment of
women is a prerequisite to transform
a developing country to a
developed stage. Empowering
women enhance their ability to
influence changes and to create
a better society. No doubt,
women have the potential to
achieve an equal footing with
men. But it is the social practices
which create an invisible barrier
preventing women from rising
Gifty Alin Jacob above a certain level. Really,
11 A
women are less selfish; more
76

Blossom Buds 2014-15

dedicated to duty and have much patience than

men by nature. In order to make the optimum use
of our vast women power, we must liberate them
from many social taboos.
Empowerment of women could only be achieved
if their economic and social status is improved.
This could be possible only by adopting definite
social and economic policies with a view of holistic
development of women. According to Mahatma
Gandhi If we educate a man, we educate an
individual, but if we educate a woman, we educate
the entire family.
Woman is a magnificent creation of God, gifted
with a multi faceted personality with a power of
benevolence, tolerance and integrity. She is the
companion of man gifted with equal mental power
and is the embodiment of care and affection. As
long as the women of the country are not uplifted
and granted equal status with men in all walks
of life, India can neither progress nor make any
significant advance in any field. There is hardly
any hope for the country where there is no respect
for women. So in pursuit of making India a great
and developed nation, let us work towards giving
women their much deserved status.
Why should boys have all the fun?? What is wrong
with being a Girl???

On hearing a noise Sheena ran

outside her house and there she saw a
snake charmer surrounded by a group
of children. Sheena along with her
brother Nakul went to see his
feats. The snake charmer was
making an adder dance using
his musical instrument. The
adder looked tired but it was
forced to do as per the whims of
the charmer. Sheena also noticed
many other baskets with the snake
charmer. She was hurt seeing the
cruelty to the animal, she felt, treating
the animal the way it was treated was wrong.
Something was hurting her conscience. But she
there was helpless.
Back at home, she continued her thoughts about
those snakes with the charmer. She recollected
the pitiful look he gave her when he saw her
concerned face. That night she dreamt that she
was locked and was urging for freedom. She woke
up and went to her brothers room and shared her
dream. Nakul gave her a cold shrug explaining how
snakes were dangerous and it was the best for the
society to keep the snakes in captivity. He advised
to keep her head out of the matter and move on.
But Sheena didnt give up. At the break the of day
she took her phone and called her uncle who was
a social activist. Her uncle consoled her and asked
her to pass the phone back to Nakul. She saw
her brother explaining and soliciting something
vigorously but she did not perceive the sound of

communication.
After
the
call,
Nakul asked her to stay
away from the matters which she didnt
really understand, which was not their concern
to interfere. When evening came, she saw many
plain clothed men walking towards her home.
They rang her house bell. Nakul opened the door
and invited them indoors. They
were thanking the host for
his help. Sheena was puzzled.
They explained that the snake
charmer was a smuggler in
disguise, who used snakes as
a medium to smuggle priceless
jewels. The men, who in reality
were police officers, were able
to arrest him with the help of
Nakul . They assured Sheena
Nikhita Mary
Thomas
that the snakes will be safely
10 B
released to the jungle. She
became happy and everything
ended well.

In an increasingly industrialized and globalized
world, it is very difficult for small developing countries
such as Bhutan to stay true to their own cultural identity.
Bhutan a small landlocked country located between
India and China uses the concept of Gross National
Happiness as a tool to ensure that their country is not
over influenced by globalization.
Gross National Happiness or GNH measures the
quality of a country in a more holistic method and
believes that the development of human society takes
place when materialism and spiritualism occur side by
side, to compliment and reinforce each other. GDP (Gross
Domestic Product) depends on the monetary aspect
alone whereas GNH quantifies development in terms of
economy, environment and culture. It seems to satisfy
the requirements of sustainability. But as a
practice, GNH is difficult to define
measure and implement. GNH is
at odds with the traditional model
of unfettered economic growth
which is followed in
many parts of the
world.
Development
led by GDP doesnt
make
economic
sense on a planet with
limited resources. So, by
using GNH as both
80

a measurement standard and a policy goal, we can lead

a culturally rich and economically sustainable model
of development. There are nine domains identified to
reflect the mission of GNH- Psychological well being,
health, education, time use, good governance, cultural
diversity and resilience, community vitality and living
standards. In Bhutan a GNH index is made to show the
overall happiness of its people. This index is offered as
a public good, aimed at helping not only policy makers
and governments, but also at helping business leaders,
civil servants and all citizens to understand how they
can contribute to increase the GNH.
After adopting GNH, our education system
can embrace its principles such as environmental
conservation and sustainable living, thus green schools
for a green nation can be developed. Each society
could discover its own indicators of
happiness. GNH is a true measure
of progress and the compass
to show direction. Let us
put in practice the basics
of Gross National
Happiness in
our country
too
for
sensible and
valuable future
development.

MANGALYAAN
MODERN SCIENTIFIC EVOLUTION

Look up the stars and down at your

feet. Try to make sense what you
see, and wonder about what makes
the universe exist. Be curious.
-Stephen Hawking

The syllables why and how

have laid the cornerstone of human
civilization and remains as strong
words which propels the world we
live in to greater heights and glory.
Yes, it is indeed curiosity about the
nature which has brought mankind
this far and will continue to do so
forever.
Every day, every hour, every minute,
every second newer discoveries are
being made and newer sparks are
ignited leading to innovations in
every field of knowledge. The days
when the secrets of the universe are
no more secrets are dawning upon
us. Every second new facts about the
universe are rallied into our grasp.
New planets are identified and new
galaxies are seen. The search for
extraterrestrial life ensues. Quantum
leaps are being made by scientists
all over the world in this aspect of
science.
These discoveries have not
quenched our curiosity, but on the
contrary have inspired many to let
loose curiosity and investigate every
nook and cranny of the world to
find new things and ideas. Newer
discoveries have created more
curiosity. As George Bernard Shaw
so eloquently puts it, In science,
you solve a problem, you create
84

Blossom Buds 2014-15

another ten. This is exactly what

is happening and there a million
questions in front of modern science
that needs answering. Some of
them like what is life? and what
happens after death? and how the
universe began? may be considered
spiritual by some, but that is purely
conventional because the age-old
line that was drawn between religion
and science is thinning out fast.

Science can indeed give a basis to our

religious beliefs, and at times, vice
versa. Ancient texts like Vedas and
the Zohar had essences of modern
theories in physics. The modern
experiments being conducted at
CERN using the large Hadron
collider to recreate events during
the creation of the universe have
produced crucial breakthroughs in
the field of physics. The emerging
field of quantum biology has
successfully explained
many cellular
events at the
microscopic
level.
Organic
electronics

oversees
the
invention
of
conductors or semiconductors by
nanotechnology application. Noetic
sciences seeks unleash the power
of human consciousness to alter
physical matter, or you may consider
the invention of quantum computing,
which is successfully put to use to
build computers having such great
speeds that the renders the present
ones abysmal. The list does not end
anywhere. Newer fields of learning
are popping up every second. The
important fact we should understand
is that that there no longer exists
a clear cut division between the
different disciplines of science.
Physics, chemistry and biology are
all holding hands in unison to make
the world a better place. The duty
of every human being is to take part
in this revolution of knowledge
irrespective of gender, nationality
or religion and take humans to
greater heights, because only
this type of healthy curiosity
can bring about the latent
human potential to achieve
the impossible.

Sarath S. XII A

This is the pride of India and the

pride of Asia and landmark progress
in humankinds exploration of outer
space, so we congratulate India
on that. This was quoted by the
Chinese Foreign Ministry about our
first Mars orbiter, Mangalyaan.
The dreams of our nation
have come true. We
have
proclaimed
our hold in space
technology. Indian
space technology
which is rooted
from the hard
work of eminent
scientists like Dr.
Vikram Sarabhai and Dr.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, has achieved
the recognition of the world. The
field of space technology that
was thought to be the asset of the
developed nations has now become
the might of our nation. Hats off to
Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) and
the scientists behind it!
Mangalyaan is the first Mars
orbiting mission launched by Indian
Space
Research
Organisation
(ISRO). The MOM was approved by
the government of India on August
3, 2012, after the ISRO completed a
project study. It was launched
from
Sriharikota

using a Polar Space Launch Vehicle

(PSLV) on November 5, 2013.
ISRO is the fourth space agency to
send a spacecraft to Mars after the
Soviet space program, NASA and
European Space Agency. The cost
of whole project was approximately
454 crores, making it the least
expensive Mars mission. In Asia,
India is the first country to send
a spacecraft to Mars. It is the first
interplanetary mission of India.
Mangalyaan reached the orbit of
Mars on 24 September, 2014 at 7:17
am.
The trip to Mars took about 300
days. This mission serves as a
demonstration mission with the main
objective of placing Mangalyaan
in orbit around Mars as a study
for future spacecraft and mission
design. After the launch, it gradually
built up the escape velocity (11.2
km/s) to break free from earths
gravitational pull using less fuel.
Mangalyaan entered the orbit of
Mars, its velocity was slowed down
from 22.1 km per second to 4.4 km
per second to get captured by
the gravitational force
of
Mars.

Mangalyaan has a highly elliptical

orbit. The scientific objectives of
Mangalyaan are to study the climate,
geology, origin and evolution of
Mars and to study the sustainability
of life on the planet.
The Mangalyaan
which
weighs
1337 kilograms
carries
many
instruments
to study the
atmosphere and
take photos of
the Mars. In order
to cut short the budget,
ISRO used a smaller rocket to put its
spacecraft into the earths orbit.
This is a promising mission with
new findings and discoveries yet to
make.
Lets hope this mission will be a
great success and landmark in
the history of India.

Colour of Peace
I wish to see a colour,
A colour in this world;
That makes all evils a blur
A myth to be told.

The lush green of forests

Is a magical treat to eyes
And deep ocean blue
A wonderful hue

Never wanted red

The wicked red of pain
And never black
Seeming ever so dark again

The colour I wish to see

Is cool loud white
The symbol of peace
To make this world bright

The Relevance of

onservation of nature and environment is an issue

which is being massively discussed and debated
worldwide. However, the report of the High Level
Working Group also known as the Kasturirangan report
is inducing hostility by many sections of the society, even
among the so called environment lovers. Even though
critical evaluation of the subject has been rigorous all
over the media, there appears to be a deficiency in
impression among the common spread.

Report-

Kasturirangan

he analysis of the Kasturirangan report

initiated its first controversy by publishing
the
investigation
report that nearly
forty
percent
of the original
forest land was
either lost or
converted for
manmade

vegetation between 1920 and 1990 in the

southern states of Tamilnadu, Karnataka
and Kerala. Reckless exploitation of natural
resources, thanks to the contribution of
corporate houses and localized residents led
to the circumstance of neo-liberalism to the
level of environmental degradation.

he factors which led eventually to

the colossal dissents which followed
were sparkled with the declaration (as per
peoplesdemocracy.com) of 4,156 villages in
six States (99 in Goa, 64 in Gujarat, 1576 in
Karnataka, 123 in Kerala, 2159 in Maharashtra
and 135 in Tamilnadu) as Ecologically Sensitive
Areas. The declaration fed rage to the locals
especially in Kerala and Tamilnadu, where
the geography is directly the source of their
employment. The report failed to address
that humans are an integral component of
nature and the existence and conservation
of environment is

An Agrarian Perspective

intrinsically linked with human life. Making

recommendations for the protection of the
livelihood and fundamental rights of toiling
people, including workers, peasants and
tribal people who are dependents upon
forest products, were not included. It also
lacked the scientific vision that protection of
environment should be ensured by protecting
the livelihood of the local people!

he solution for this chaotic circumstance

in my point of view can be in a single
point expressed as sustainable development
-the development mode using the principles
ofecology, the study of relationships between
human beings and the environment. It is a
holistic and integrated

approach which satisfies human food and fiber needs

and enhances environmental quality and the natural
resource base, upon which the agricultural economy
depends.

ven though, the Kasturirangan report makes

an honest attempt in rejuvenating the needs of
ecological balance at the cost of an agrarian society,
it scarcely acknowledges the needs of Gods crown of
creation Human Beings. Only if a sense of stability
between environment and organisms is obtained,
there will exist sobriquets like Gods Own
Country, Pearl of the Orient, Grape
city of India, The Queen of
the Hills etc.

TATER PEOPLE
Some people never seem motivated
to participate, but are just content
to watch while others do the work.
--They are called Spec Taters.
Some people never do anything to
help, but are gifted at finding fault
with the way others do the work.
--They are called Comment
Taters.
Some people are very bossy and
like to tell others what to do, but
dont want to soil their own hands.
--They are called Dic Taters.
Some people are always looking to
cause problems by asking others to
agree with them. It is too hot or too
cold, too sour or too sweet.
--They are called Agie Taters.
There are those who say they will
help, but somehow just never
get around to actually doing the
promised help.
--They are called Hezzie Taters.
Some people can put up a front and
pretend to be someone they are not.
--They are called Imi Taters.

10th July was a notable day in the history of B.M.M.

That was the day organized to encourage and applaud
the maestros of B.M.M fraternity or well said, the
priceless jewels which enhanced the beauty and
value of B.M.M
As the day to be remembered ever and since it was
such an auspicious occasion, we beautified it by
giving the title DIA MERITO. This day was not only
the day of those students who achieved success, but
also the teachers who motivated them to achieve this
with hard work and sincerity. To adorn the day the
footsteps of the great missionary, His Holiness the
Catholicos Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II,
stamped his foot in the blessed land of Pothenpuram.
Thirumeni was welcomed ceremonially and His
Holiness himself liturgically lighted the lamp to
depict the investiture of the function and he blessed
the solar energy harnessing systems and the Higher
Secondary block. He officially inaugurated the
MGOCSM- 2014.
In the enlightening and informative speech, the topics
such as sharing and caring among Gods creations
and the power of knowledge
to eradicate the darkness and
wickedness in the world were
emphasized. Overall, the day
was a commemorative plaque
to the history of B.M.M

Environment day
Environment day was celebrated in the school premises in
the most remarkable manner. The twelfth graders gave their
whole-hearted participation in making it wonderful along
with the teachers support and prayers. The programme
started off with a drawing competition based on the theme,
Environment. The participants created excellent art works
on their drawing sheets. All the sheets were collected and
an exhibition was set up in the seminar hall for the students
as an awareness programme to save our Mother Earth.
On the environment day, a rally was arranged from the
Dayara Chapel to the school ground. Green flags flew in
the air with their heads high in the hope of a world without
pollution. The students were excited and cried out the
slogan, Go Green from the core of their hearts. In the
ground, flag was hoisted by the chief guest, Rev. Fr Mathew
K. John in the presence of our principal, Dr Isaac Thomas
and all the teachers, who actively participated in the success
of the programme. A sapling was planted in the ground in
the hope that proper nourishment would make it
grow as a healthy plant. A meeting was arranged
in the auditorium where the students were given
informative class by the Principal and the chief
guest. Students were advised to take proper
care of the saplings planted on environment
day.
Plants are the source of life for
all living organisms. Environment
means not only plants, but also every
organisms living on the earth. It
is our duty to protect and save
environment for our better living
in the future. The students were also
given new information about the harms
caused by the CFL bulbs along with the
mercury which they release. The whole
programme was nothing, but an awareness
programme to make the students aware
of the wonderful gift of God (nature),
which is now given zero importance
since we are only thinking of our own
needs to earn more
and more money. Hope the
slogan Go Green will be
given a safer place in your
heart and will be echoed in
every moment of your life.

A Few Moments with a Great Mind

We were both lucky and excited to attend an

interactive session with Dr.G. Madhavan Nair that
was scheduled on June 7, 2014. We, a group of five,
consisting of myself, Kevin Philip Sabu, Tesa Sabu,
Melitta Sabu and Sandra Sajan, along with Mary
Miss and Leena Miss reached KITS College at 10
a.m. The stage glittered with an array of colours.
We waited impatiently for the presence of a great
scientist.

Abhijit Biji receives "Best Performer" award.

When our watch needles touched 11 a.m., we heard

the loud beats of tom-toms outside. G. Madhavan
Nair had come and we had our first glimpse of him.
The audience stood up to pay their respects to this
great man, whom the nation had honoured with the
Padma Vibhushan. He was also accompanied
by the Chairman, Principal and other dignitaries
of the college. An interactive session commenced
shortly afterwards. We were fortunate to be given
an opportunity to ask questions.
I asked the question about the possibilities of
antimatter as a future source of energy, and my
teammates, Kevin and Sandra asked about gravity
and satellites respectively. He answered all the
questions patiently. I was also awarded for being the
Best Performer of the day. We were all fortunate
to shake hands with him at the end of the day and
he bid us all farewell. That was the most beautiful
day of our lives. We will cherish and nurture the
memories of this journey always. We wholeheartedly
thank Joby Miss for this opportunity.
