Iam a nature lover. Thus, I want my house to have great view with alot of trees around. And
I can breathe in clean and fresh air. This kind of environment around my house would be
pleasant. Moreover, the rooms should have good ventilation so that I can feel comfortable. In
addition, I want a balcony in my house so that in the morning I can go there and enjoy the
sunlight shining into my house. To have all these conditions, my house should be located in a
peaceful and quiet area, perhaps in the outskirt of the city and far from traffic roads. On top of
that, I want to see my house painted in blue beacaus this colour symbolizes peace. Finally, it
would certainly be excellent if the security of my house is good. There should be security guard
all day and night watching over our house.
I am a sale manager in charge of business so my working day is very flexible that depends
on the customers, projects and time. But basically, my working day includes the following
tasks:
In the morning I often go to the office at 8:30 and the first important work to be done is to
swipe my ID staff card. From 8:30 to 9:00 is the time to open the computer, drink water and
chat with colleagues. Then I check and answer emails from 9:00 to 9:30. From 9:30 to 10:00 is
usually used to check which things have not been resolved yet and arrange emergent things to
solve first. From 10:00 to 12:00 is flexible time, I can meet customers, have group meeting and
department meeting at the company, or read jobs related and useful documents, etc. From 12:00
to 1:30 is for lunch and rest. I have lunch at the company or occasionally have lunch with
customers. Then I have a short sleep at noon in the company. Working hours of the afternoon
are from 1:30 to 6:00. From 1:30 to 2:00 is time to surf the internet to update information and
other issues related to my job. I often meet customers from 2:00 to 4:00 at the coffee or the
customer's office. Time from 4:00 to 5:00 is for checking and solving the remaining things that
have not been solved yet. From 5:00 to 6:00 is the time to check and reply to emails and read
documents. My working day ends at 6:00 pm. Before leaving the office, I always remember
doing one thing very similar in the morning is to swipe my ID staff card.

In my opinion teenagers should work but they just work out of learning hours at school. The
problem is that what they do, how they can manage their time not to affect their learning.
Their working makes them more dynamic. They can open up their vision rather than being
constrained within the family and school. In working environment, they can meet more people
and get more new friends.
With the working, they can have experience and prepare well for their future. It helps them
know how the working environment is and what they need to prepare. Then they have the
appropriate learning plan. In the working place, they can apply what they have learned into
practice. The working helps them expand knowledge, especially of social knowledge. It helps
them learn the working skills and how to treat other people in society.
The income from working also helps them do things they love without depending on their
parents. With the money they earn, they can join the helpful courses and purchase their favorite
things. It also helps them realize the value of money that their parents have worked hard to earn
by even blood and tears. However, they must choose appropriate and lawful jobs. They should
plan for their learning and working that does not affect their learning because the learning is
still the most important in their age.

My hobbies are reading and painting. First of all, reading books not only helps you to
acquire knowledge and develop your vocabulary, but also strengthens your memory and shapes
your behavior. I started reading when I was 7. I like reading novels, medical books and short
stories. At this time, I am reading a famous novel called Great Gatsby. My second hobby is
painimg. Colors of paintings make me feel like I am in a fairy tale. I prefer to use water color to
illustrate what I love. I often draw the landscapes and the floral paintings. My favorite artists
are Salvador Dali and Van Gogh. In conclusion, I think reading and painting are both wonderful
hobbies that you should enjoy in the free time
Last year I had a very interesting and unforgettable holiday with my family. It was five-day
holiday in Bangkok. We flew there by air and stayed in a hotel near the river. The hotel was
comfortable, but quite expensive. We liked the food very much but we didnt like the weatherit was very hot. There were a lot of tourists there, they were from different countries. My
children were fond of talking with them in English. The city was enormous so we didnt walk
very much. We travelled on the new overhead railway. It was very fast and comfortable. We
visited a lot of temples and we watched the boats on the river. We visited some fantastic street
markets and bought a lot of souvernirs. We had very happy days there. It was our unforgetable
holiday.
Topic 8: Write about some things exciting you like to do for relaxing
I am a state employee, I have to work 5 days a week, so Im very busy. After the work,
reading is one of activities I like to do for relaxing. I read story books, magazines, newspapers
and any kind of material that I find interested. This hobby got started when I was a little girl. I
wanted my parents to read fairy tales and other stories to me. But they got fed up and tired of
having to read the same stories again and again. I started to read simple fairy tales and other
20
stories by myself. Now I read anything that is available. Reading enables me to learn about so
many things that I do not know. I could learn about ther wounders of the world, space travel,
human achievements, animals, world news and other fascinating things of our world.
In this era, life is busy and fast-pace. Therefore, peole tend to get stressed quite easily. Thus,
people hope to find ways to cope with stress and stay happily. I have my own ways to be happy.
For me, a weekend entirely spent with my family is the best way to get away from stress after
every working week. We as a family do a lot of things together to relax and have fun. We may
go shopping at a suppermarket or going to an amusement park. It is truly entertaining or we
also enjoy gardening because its very relaxing. Sometimes, we change our weekend activities
by meeting up with friends. We usually eat out together or watch nice movies. Additionally, on
special occasion like birthday of anyone in my family, I invite some of my friends and relatives
to come over to my house for birthday celebration. These are some tips to have a happy life.
Happiness is also very good for health. Thats why Im really comcerned about how to stay
happily.
One can watch a variety of program on TV today. Moreover, the programs are high-quality
and enjoyable. The news programs are really informative. They provide hotly discussed issues
and regularly update about important information to TV viewers. Besides, the news program
also inform viewers about new governmentspolices so they can keep up with the changes in
their countries. The entertainment programs are also great. People can enjoy nice movies of
various types such as actionfilms, comedies or horror films. A lot of movies are good and they
help people relax, especially after a tiring day at work. A part from movies, game shows are
very fun and viewers can also learn some new things from the shows. In conclusion, the TV
programs today are terrific and much better than in the past. The number of programs is greater
and better in quality.

Hotels are changing their wasteful habits and getting involved in the move to save the
environment. At major hotels throughout the world, (1) guests are being greeted by shampoo and
mouthwash in glass dispensers instead of elaborate plastic bottles. They are discovering recycling bins
in their (2) rooms, and are encouraged to use towels more than once before they are washed.
This green movement, is becoming increasingly popular among (3) tourists who look for service
providers with an enviromental conscience. The business of eco-tours is (4) increasing rapidly. Travel
agents are booking clients on Save the Rainforest expeditions and similar trips where the emphasis is
on protecting the (5) would.
The tourists on these trips are (6) given lectures on the effects of the loss of our planets natural
wonders and what they can do to reverse the trend. They do not need (7) much convincing. The
travelers on these excursions (8) are already committed to environmental protection. In fact, a twoyear study of litter in Antarctica found (9) that the entire collection of litter left by visitors to the
continent could be put in one small sandwich bag. Compare that amount of litter (10) with what the
average traveler finds strewn on the streets around a hotel, even an environmentally sensitive hotel.

My names Charles. Im 15 years old, and I live (1) at home withe my mother, my father and my
younger sister. I like the area where I live because there are so (2) many cafs, restaurants, shops and
cinemas. During the week I go to school. Im working very hard at the moment because we have
exams soon and I want to (3) pass them. However, on Saturday morning I have a part-time job. I wash
cars for my neighbours. I dont (4) earn much money for this, but I usually have enough to spend on
the things I like doing. Last year I took (5) up photography, so I spend most of my money on cameras
and computer software.
on your shoes. Then find a pair which fits you well. Be prepared to (6)try different sizes in different
types of shoe. Womens shoes are made narrower (7) than mens and, although most women will find a
womans shoe which suits them, there is no (8) reason why a woman cant wear a mans shoe. The
same is true for a man- (9) if a womans shoe fits you better, then wear it. Take you time in the shop. If
you (10) make a mistake and buy the wrong shoes, your feet will let you know.
Starting a business is never easy (2)... so many things are outside your control. If you are thinking
about working for yourself, you (3)... start by thinking about the qualities you need to (4)... a business.
Be hard with youself. If you have a weakness, it is better to find out now (5)... than later when your
business could be in danger. Ask yourself (6)... you are a good organiser. Is your health (7)... ? are you
good (8)... making decisions? Do you have any practical experience of the business you want to start?
Are you prepared to work long hours for very (9)... money? If you cant (10)... yes to most of these
questions, perhaps you should think again about starting up in business on your own.

THE FIRST WOMAN SCIENTIST
Hypatia was (0) born in Alexandria, in Egypt, in 370 A.D. For many centuries she was (1) the
only woman scientist to have a place in the history books.
Hypatias father was director of Alexandria University, and he (2) made sure his daughter had the
best education available. This was unusual, as most women then had few (3) opportunities to study.
After studying in Athens and Rome, Hypatia returned to Alexandria (4) where she began teaching
mathematics. She soon became famous (5) for her knowledge of new ideas.
We have no copies of her books, (6) but we know that she wrote several important mathematical
works. Hypatia was also interested in technology and (7) invented several scientific tools to help with
her work.
At the (8) time many rulers were afraid of science, and (9) anyone connected with it was in
danger. One day in March 415, Hypatia (10) was attacked in the street and killed.

SAMUEL PEPYS
The most famous diary (0)in English was written by Samuel Pepys. It gives a detailed and
interesting (1)description of everyday life in England (2)between1660 and 1669. Pepys writes about
important news stories of time, like disease, an enemy navy (3) sailing up the River Thames and the
Great Fire of London.
He also writes about himself, even about his (4) faults he often slept during church or (5)
lookedat the pretty girls. He describes his home life- a (6) quarrel with his wife and how they became
friends again, his worry about her illness. As well as books, he liked music, the theatre, card (7) games,
and parties with good food and (8) plenty of fun. Peys was a busy man who had many important (9)
jobs - he was a Member of Parliament and President of the Royal Society. He is also (10) remembered
for his work for the British Navy.

THE ROCKIES
The Rocky Mountains run almost the length (0) of North America.
They start in the North-west, but lie only a (1) few hundred miles from the centre in more
southern areas. Although the Rockies are smaller (2) than the Alps, they are no less wonderful.
25
There are many roads across the Rockies, (3) but the best way to see them is to (4) travel by
train. You start from Vancouver, (5) the most attractive of Canadas big cities. Standing with its feet in
the water and its head in the mountains, this city (6) allows its residents to ski on slopes just 15
minutes by car from the city (7) centre.
Thirty passenger trains a day used to (8) set off from Vancouver on the cross- continent railway.
Now there are just three a week, but the ride is still a great adventure. You sleep on board, (9) which is
fun, but travel through some of the best (10) scenery at night.

CARTOON FILMS
Cartoon films have very (0) few limits. If you can draw something, you can (1) make it move on
the cinema screen. The use (2) of new ideas and advanced computer programs means that cartoons are
becoming exciting again for people of (3) all ages.
By the (4) end of the 1970s, the cinema world had decided that cartoons were only for children.
But soon (5) afterwards, one or two directors had some original new ideas. They proved that it
was possible to make films in which both adults and children could (6) share the fun.
However, not (7) every cartoon film was successful. The Black Cauldron, for example, failed,
mainly because it was too (8) frightening for children and too childish for adults. Directors learnt from
this (9) mistake, and the film companies began to make large (10) amounts of money again.
