LESSON PLAN
AIM(S) OF THE LESSON
The main aim(s) of this lesson will be:

A1: To pre-teach useful structures that the learners are likely to need, more exactly
structures related to the different types of conditionals;
A2: To be able to express themselves freely and solve different types of exercises
by using conditionals;
A3: To be able to solve a listening exercise, while focusing on conditionals.
STUDENTS PROBLEMS
I anticipate that the following may cause problems:

- Students may encounter problems when working in groups.


TEACHING TECHNIQUES
Note down anything which you feel you need to be particularly aware of during the lesson:

- The teacher has to ensure that each student has a clear idea about the use of
conditionals. All students will be involved in the activities.

Warming up and

checking

The teacher greets the class. T asks about Ss mood in


order to prepare them for the lesson, checks attendance,
and asks them about their homework. Thus, a relaxed
atmosphere is created in order to facilitate the learningteaching process and to increase students interest in the
lesson.

Lead in

The T. asks the students to continue the following


sentence, after having written it on the board: If I were the
President of this country. . After such examples, the T
ellicits the rule for this type of conditional.
Then, students are asked to check their previous
knowledge and ask questions if there was anything left
unclear.

Speaking

Semi-controlled
practice. Fill-in
exercise.

The students receive some coloured notes, which they


have to complete orally with the required type of
conditional. Thus, the class is divided into groups of four,
each group chooses its spokesperson and then, after
having done the exercise, the groups check their answers
together with the T.

choice exercise.

The Ss are asked to solve a multiple choice exercise, by


choosing the right answer, then everyone checks their
answers.

exercise.

The T. assigns another task to the Ss, thus, they have to


complete the sentences with the correct form of the verb.

Listening

The Ss receive some handouts and they have to complete


the blank spaces (again, with conditionals) while listening
to Enrique Iglesias song, Hero. The listening is done
twice.
