First, the backwash of vocabulary test. according to John Brian Heaton, backwash
can be defines as the direct or indirect effect of examinations on teaching methods.
A vocabulary test could be a good input for the teachers and administrators to
check the vocabulary size of their students and detect as early as possible if there is
some problems in the vocabulary acquisition. Immediate treatment is given to cope
this problem.
Pertama, backwash dari test vocabulary. menurut John Brian Heaton, backwash
dapat didefinisikan sebagai efek langsung atau tidak langsung dari pemeriksaan
pada metode pengajaran.
Tes vocabulary bisa menjadi masukan yang baik untuk guru untuk memeriksa
ukuran kosakata siswa dan mendeteksi sedini mungkin jika ada beberapa masalah
dalam penguasaan kosakata. Pengobatan segera diberikan untuk mengatasi
masalah ini.
Second, vocabulary test is a good instrument to measure how vocabulary develops.
If vocabulary levels reflect language development more generally,then vocabulary
testing might offer a relatively quick and easy way for researchers and schools to
monitor progress in language development.
Kedua, tes kosakata adalah alat yang baik untuk mengukur seberapa kosakata
berkembang. Jika tingkat kosakata mencerminkan perkembangan kemampuan
bahasa siswa, maka tes vocabulary mungkin menawarkan cara yang relatif cepat

perkembangan bahasa siswa.
Third, vocabulary test functions like any other tests have different purposes:
they can be used to assess whether learners have acquired the words they were
learned (achievement test),
it can help detecting gaps in the vocabulary knowledge of learners (diagnostic test),
it is to place students in the appropriate language class level (placement test),
Ketiga, fungsi tes kosakata seperti tes lainnya memiliki beberapa tujuan yang
