Evergreencrimeratesnowarehigherthan10yearsagowhenSanJosewasthesafestlargecityintheUS.Thereasonis
becauseourSJPDisnowshortstaffed.However,violentcrimessuchasassaults&batteriesandrobberiesarecurrentlylower
inEvergreenthanotherpartsofSanJose.
WheneverEvergreenismentionedinthenews,usuallytheresanimmediatedropinEvergreencrimes.Thebadguystendto
avoidourareawhentheyfeelthatmoreresidentsmaybewatchingforthem.Theiroddsofbeingcaughtarehigherwhen
moreofusarewatching,butthisimmediatedropisonlyshortterm.Thatswhyweneedtocontinuetoremainvigilantand
reportsuspiciousactivities.
MayorLiccardo,ViceMayorHerrera,SupervisorCortese,andtheSJPDallwantcrimestodropinSanJose.Latelastyear,
EvergreenresidentswenttoSupervisorCorteseandthentoCityHallaskingforhelp,somorepoliceresourceswereputinto
Evergreenwithadditionalpoliceovertime.WeareveryvigilantintheFowlerCreekandnearbyNextdoorgroups.Butwe
cantshareourpostingsandalertstothenorthernpartofEvergreensuchastheEastridgeandNorwoodareasdueto
Nextdoorslimitation.
SolookingattheburglarymapforJanuary2015,weneedtobemorevigilantinthenorthernpartofEvergreen.Butlookat
theJanuaryburglarymapforthesouthernpartofEvergreen,fromAbornRoadandsouthward.ComparethattoAlmaden,
LosGatos,Cupertino,andPaloAlto/MenloParkareas.BurglariesinthesouthernpartofEvergreenweremostlylowerin
January2015.
Burglaryratesfluctuatemonthtomonth.Butonagoodmonthasseenfromthesemaps,thesouthernpartofEvergreencan
haveamongthelowestburglaryratesinallofSiliconValley.

PolicechiefEsquivel,CaptainMata,andtheSJPDaredoingaverygoodjob.AmonglargeUScities,SanJosehasthelowest
policeofficerspercapita.Yet,thehomiciderateinSanJosein2014waslowerthanmanyotherlargeUScities.Takingthe
lowstaffissueunderconsideration,IfeelthattheSJPDisstilloneofthebestpolicedepartmentsintheUnitedStates.

rateswilldropfurtheraswegetmorepoliceofficers.I'mconfidentthatwhenwehaveasufficientpoliceforce,SanJosewill
