XLGradebook is a standard Microsoft Excel 2007+ workbook that has a few
macros added in to help you when organizing and processing your students' grades. Features include * Fool-proof sorting * Incremental search and entering of results * Easy and versatile rescaling tools * Quick summaries. And select subgroups of students for comparison * Link to Marking Sheets -----------------------------------------------------------------------Requirements XLGradebook runs on any machine that has MS Excel version 2007 or higher. Copies for earlier version of Excel are available on request. ------------------------------------------------------------------------Installation XLGradebook is supplied in compressed form in the file XLGRADES.EXE self-extracting archive for a PC in pkzip format) or in XLGRADES.ZIP, a standard (not self-extracting) zip file. There are a number of files when installed: XLGradebook.xlsm is the actual gradebook. You can make as many copies of this as you like (for your own use) and rename it as required, too. XLMarksheet.xls is a file that can be used to creat marking sheets for use with XLGradebook. XLGrades.doc is the documentation. XLGrade.xls is not an Excel Add-in and no modifications to your system, including Excel itself, are carried out during installation. Installing on a PC Simply copy the supplied file to an empty directory or folder on your hard disk and either run them (EXE files) or use an uncompression program that can handle pkzip files to extract the files inside to the same folder. When copying EXE files, make sure that you do not just create shortcuts to the existing files. If you get the files on floppy disks you can run the setup program (this just copies the supplied files to a folder on your hard disk and unpacks them). Installing on a MAC Use a de-compression program that can handle pkzip (.zip) files and extract the files inside the supplied files to an empty folder on your hard disk. If you installing an upgrade in the same directory as an older version, first delete all the old XLGradebook files - if you don't you will probably be warned that you are overwriting files. If you are warned simply choose to overwrite or type "a" for "all" at the Overwrite (y/n)? prompt if you get it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------Using XLGradebook
Open XLGradebook.xlsm (or a copy renamed as you want). You'll see a
number of worksheets. The front one (called, simply, Gradebook) is the main one where your student information is recorded. Buttons are provided for carrying out the commonly-needed operations. Click "Help" for more help. XLGradebook.xlsm contains macros - if prompted you must click to Enable them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------Uninstalling The XLGradebook files can simply be deleted at any time without causing any problems or side effects. ------------------------------------------------------------------------XLGradebook Home page http://www.deakin.edu.au/~rodneyc/XLGradebook 15 October, 2011 Rodney Carr 14 McGhie Road Allansford, VIC 3277 Australia Work: Deakin Business School Faculty of Business and Law Deakin University Warrnambool Warrnambool VIC 3280 Australia Phone 03 5563 3458 FAX 03 5563 3320 email: rodneyc@deakin.edu.au web: http://www.deakin.edu.au/~rodneyc
