KAHRAMAA STANDARD SINGLE LINE DIAGRAM & NUMBERING
SYSTEM FOR DOUBLE BUSBAR SUBSTATIONS
For Double Busbar substation our standard is as follow:
Location of Main & Reserve Busbar , Bus-Coupler and Bus-Sectionalizers :
1. When both Busbars are w ith horizontal plan then bu sbar near cabl e sealing
ends is Reserve Busbar while Busbar near L.e.e. is Main Busbar. When Busbars
are with vertical plan i.e. one Busbar is over the other th en th e upper Busbar is
Reserve and lower one is Main. In L.e.e. & MMI. Alw ays Reserve B/B is on
top while main busbar is at bottom.
The mimic in the LCC panel, facing it w ill be as follows:
The Main Busba rs isolators an d its switches are kept on LEFT side.
The Reserve busbar isolators and its switches ar e kept at RIGHT side
2. For a standard double Busbar configuratio n with tw o bus-sections : Facing the
Busbar from L.e.e. sid e, the Left hand sid e section shall be designated as Ml
and RI , and the right hand side section shall be designated as M2 and R2
3. If there are more than two bu s sections then, facing the bu sbar fro m L.e.e. side
the Left hand side section shall be designated as Ml / Rl, follow ed by M2/ R2,
th en M3/ R3, M4/R4 and so on .
4. Future Extens ion of a new busbar on the left hand side of Ml /Rl (facing the
busbar from LCC side) shall be designated as MIA/RIA and so on .
5. The

Bus-section and Bus-Couplers shall be design ated as follows :

Bay #12 - Coupling Busba r Ml & M2
Bay #32 - Coupling Busbar M2 & M3
Bay #52 - Co upling Busba r M3 & M4 and so on.
(The Sectionalizers on Main Busbar will start from Odd Number)
Bay #22 - Coupling Bus bar Rl & R2

Bay #33 - Coupling Busbar M3 & R3

Bay #43 - Coupling Busbar M4 & R4 and so on.

The above designation shall prevail irrespective of whether the Configuration

is of Single Busbar or Double Busbar system:

Designation of Feeder Bays on each Busbar

6. For Bus M1/R1 the Bay Number for feeders will start from #10, #30,
#50, .....and shall be reserved upto #90 to take care of future extension if any. If
it is known beforehand that the number of feeders is more than #90 then the
next numbers shall continue i.e. #110, #130, .... Etc. The Bay numbers will start
in ascending order from the Bus Section (bay #12) i.e. the lowest bay number
(bay #10) shall be the closest to Bus Section (bay #12). This also means that the
Bay numbers will be in descending order from Right hand side of the busbar
when facing the busbar from LCC side
7. For Bus M2/R2 the Bay Number for feeders will start from #20, #40,
#60, .....and shall be reserved upto #100. If it is known beforehand that the
number of feeders is more than #100 then the next numbers shall continue i.e.
#120, #140, .... Etc. The Bay numbers will start in ascending order from the Bus
Section (bay #12) i.e. the lowest bay number (bay #20) shall be the closest to Bus
Section (bay #12). This also means that the Bay numbers will be in ascending
order from Left hand side of the busbar when facing the busbar from LCC side
If
8. For Bus M3/R3 the Bay Number for feeders will start from #110, #130,
these numbers are consumed in Bus M1/R1 then for M3/R3 it shall start from
the next higher number. The Bay numbers will start in ascending order from
the Bus Section (bay #32) i.e. the lowest bay number (bay #110) shall be the
closest to Bus Section (bay #32). This also means that the Bay numbers will be
in ascending order from Left hand side of the busbar when facing the busbar
from LCC side
If
9. For Bus M4/R4 the Bay Number for feeders will start from #120, #140,
these numbers are consumed in Bus M2/R2 then for M4/R4 it shall start from
the next higher number. The Bay numbers will start in ascending order from
the Bus Section (bay #52) i.e. the lowest bay number (bay #120) shall be the
closest to Bus Section (bay #42). This also means that the Bay numbers will be
in ascending order from Left hand side of the busbar when facing the busbar
from LCC side.

Bays M2/R2 , M4/R4 etc shall be Bay #21/#28, #41/#48 and so on.
The first digit of the bay shall be sa me on the HV side and LV side. i.e, for
e.g. if from a 220kV bus there are tw o outgoing transformer bays each
terminating on a bus of different voltage, one on 132kV and one on 66kV
then bays designation shall be as follows and an example is shown in Fig2.
L HV side of 220/ 132kV Tx1 = Bay 011
ii, LV side of 220/132kV Tx1 = Bay CIS
iii. HV side of 220/ 66kV Tx1 = Bay 0 31
IV. LV side of 220/66kV Tx1 = Bay B38
The same philosophy holds good for the reverse configuration i.e.
multiple bus on HV side terminating on one single bu s on LV side. An
example is shown in Fig 3.
The transformer design ation shall include the HV and LV side voltage
references suffixed by T1, T2, etc. For e.g. :
i. 220/132kV Tx 1 shall be designated OC-Tl
ii . 220/ 66kV Tx 2 shall be design ated as OB-T2
iii. 132/66kV Tx 1 sha ll be designated as CB-Tl

is more than one isolator then it shall be designated as D303B, D303C

and so on.

Line Earthswitch in Terminal Yard shall be suffixed by "A" to the line

Earthswitch designation in the GIS.
i.
E.g.: If Line Earthswitch in GIS is D301 and the same bay has another
Earthswitch in terminal yard then it shall be designated as D301A. If
there is more than one earthswitch then it shall be designated as
