1 Presentation
OptiTex Software protection relies upon a secured license file and an Aladdin plug.
This guide introduces the customers actions required to install a license file on a customer site.

1.1 Functionalities
OptiTex processes are designed as a set of modules; a module can be
o

A process, such as a Converter, PDS, Marker,

A functionality within one or several processes, such as Import, Export

From release 10, the customer receives a secured license file (RSA encryption algorithm), based
upon a license request generated by the customer and sent to OptiTex: this license file includes
the customer modules profile (including hardware characteristic) and can be installed only on the
site having provided the license request.
When not any license file is installed on a customer site, OptiTex software, including the license
manager, take into account the modules configured on the Aladdin plug.
The OptiTex software does not take into consideration the license file when a Network or Timeable plug is
connected on the site.

1.1.1 How to Invoke the License Manager

The License Manager can be invoked from

Start->Program->OptiTex 10->Utilities->License Manager

From PDS / Marker / Modulate processes

o

Help->Check Plug Protection menu option

2.1 Flow overview

Note

License files concern only local plug, not timer or network plugs.

2.2 First install on customer site

When the customer invokes a product, PDS for instance, knowing that he never received any
license file, the following pop up window appears requiring the customer to start the cycle to
install a license file.

2.3 Installing a license file

2.3.1 Generate a license request

o A Generate Request window appears, prompting to create a user license
request file

o

Send the generated request license file (license.req) to OptiTex and

you will receive back a License file (license.lis).
We recommend the user to save the received license file (license.lis) in
a folder different of your OptiTex Suite installation folder (OptiTex 10).

Pay attention
o Clicking Generate Request invalidates the license file(s) generated from a
previous license request.

Installing a license file can be performed as well by double clicking the received
license.lis file.
o The license specified in the license file is installed
o The License manager process is started automatically, so the user can visualize
which modules are available
o Note: (the received, license.lis, file should not be stored by the user in the
OptiTex folder OptiTex 10\App\License, else the installation would fail.
o

If several licenses files are generated from different licenses requests, only
Note
licenses generated from the latest generated request can be installed.

2.3.3 License file upgrade

Having received a license file, if the customer needs to add / remove some modules, the procedure is

Request a new license file, using the same License Request file and specify which updates are
required (If the customer provides a new license request file (Generate Request), then the current
license file wont be no more available).

A new license file will then be sent and the customer has simply to install this new license (License
Manager).

2.4 Remove license file

The Remove license feature uninstalls the installed license file and from then module settings are
accessed from the plug.

2.5 Uninstall and reinstall OptiTex 10 Suite

Having installed a license file provided by OptiTex, if OptiTex 10 Suite is uninstalled and reinstalled

The license file is no more applied, the configuration from the plug is applied

Reinstall your license file through the License Manager

2.6 Network plugs

Modules codes can be updated for network plug from the server site, from the client sites,
updates have no effect.

2.7 Starting an OptiTex process without relevant permissions

If an OptiTex process is started, when user does not have access to the process, the License
manager is started instead of the requested process, permitting the user to enter the relevant
module codes enabling the required process usage.

3 Software protection for OptiTex multi versions

As long as license file is installed, OptiTex 10 protection is controlled through the license file
configuration.
If a user runs on the same site Release 10 and a previous Release, such as release 9, the
following protection configurations are supported

Configured Aladdin Plug version 10 and no license file installed

o

Protection for processes, for all releases, is controlled based upon the Aladdin
Plug modules configuration

Configured Aladdin Plug release 9 or 10 version and license file installed

o

Protection for release 10 is controlled based upon the license file

Protection for release 9 is controlled based upon the Aladdin Plug modules
configuration
