How effective is the combination of

your main product and ancillary
Our digipak and magazinetexts?
ads were made to compliment our
music video. Throughout the making of our ancillary products,
we wanted a clear link to be seen with the music video and
this was very simple to do. We succeeded in doing this through
the use of colour scheme and font, as well as images. The
images used were shots/ photographs we had taken during the
music video shooting at heartwood forest itself. The filters
used on the images were all the same for the Billboard poster,
Music magazine poster, digipak and songbook.

We felt that
If we linked our ancillary products to the music video, it would be more

appealing to our audiences and they would be able to recognise our work
over anyone elses. this way we will be able to make our own fan base, which
is key when wanting to make successful music video or any other media text.
We decided that we want at least one picture of our artist on all of the ancillary
products, the photos taken for the billboard and magazine are taken by
myself and they turned out stunning, the shots include nature to show the
sense of realism but also isolation and finally our artist as well. The reason
why we wanted the artist on the ancillary tasks was because we decided our
music video was going to be a performance/ narrative video, therefore by
doing so, audiences get an idea of knowing what kind of a music video it will
be- if they are bale to see the artist on the ancillary products, then it may
persuade them to watch the video; only if the ancillary products are
engaging (which the were).

Our magazine
Advert is intended to be much simpler, much more subtle than other musical magazine

adverts, and doesnt display an explicit image of our artist. Its more of a photo in a
photo. This tends to show less focus on artist image, or other gimmicks. With our
magazine advert we intended to give enough information to spark audiences curiosities,
without feeling forced, as the artist is not famous as of yet, (she is a group member who
sings and writes her own songs), and therefore do not have a well-recognised name or
image. We wanted to reel potential audiences in with a mysterious advert to prompt
them to investigate the band for themselves, hence the bands name being the biggest,
boldest text on the advert.
We included a logo whereby it is very easy to remember our company as the font is one
that looks like it has been stamped. This is so it gives the impression of how effective
we want our audiences to think about our music video, and it leaves a mark on them
like a stamp and theyll always remember it.
We decided to include a lyric booklet in our digipak, incorporating stills from the video,
and some original illustrations, because our artists (Melina) music is so lyric- centered,
we felt including a lyric booklet would be beneficial.
