Lawyer Godrej who set up the company

An Indian lawyer passed out

of college and began to fight
cases in court to earn money.
He went to Africa to argue
for his client. But, there he
was asked to support untrue
statements. He was unwilling
to do so and sell his conscience. He didnt take up the
case and returned to India.
The man then started working in a pharmacy as an assistant. While working there, he
found that all the surgical
tools were imported from
England. He borrowed money
and started manufacturing
scissors, pincers and other
tools used for surgery. The
company failed badly because
people wanted foreign goods.
At last, it was closed down.
The lawyer learnt how to be
successful after analysing the
failure. He learnt a lot about
machines, so he applied for
another loan. This time he
made locks. His name became the most trusted name
for locks in India. You may
find a lock made in his factory
at your home.
This man is Ardeshir Godrej
and his company is called Godrej.
Godrej makes fridge, locks,
AC, washing machines, furniture, microwave oven and
many household items.

Old pottery

Ancient Egyptians, young and old,

loved to drink wine. Hundreds of
fragments of pottery used by
Egyptians to make beer more than
5,000 years ago have been unearthed in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The pottery was found during
the excavation of a building site.
Pieces of ceramic jugs and basins
crafted in an Egyptian style, which
were used to prepare wine, were
found here.
Wine was also offered to the
gods in ancient Egypt. It was
sometimes used in place of currency as a wage for labourers.

According to the entomologists, the ants are indeed very

The good habit helps them to

Boy saves mighty lions

Lion saver with his invention

Kenya is a country in Africa that

depends on tourists for earning.
The wildlife and especially lions
are the key attraction for people
all over the world to come to
Kenya.
There are special houses for
tourists in the middle of the jungle. They come to see the lions
but they also want safety.
Lions were eating a lot of livestock like cows, goats. Villagers
started killing the lions to take
revenge. The lions were about
to be extinct in Kenya. If lions
are killed, then tourists will stop
visiting the country and most
people will be troubled as they
depend on tourist income.
At such a cruicial time, elevenyear-old boy Richard Turere developed a cheap device from
five flashlight bulbs, a car battery and a solar panel to scare
the lions away.

With the use of these lights

called Lion Lights, he saved
cattle, human lives. The lions
were also saved as people no
longer attacked the animals.
The government also earned a
lot of money as tourists continued to visit the country. He became so famous and helpful
that he has been given a scholarship to study in a very good
school.
All was possible due to one
bright idea to change so many
lives of animals and humans.

It is hot summer. But, humans

with their intelligence have
been enjoying snowfall and
even skiing in a desert now.
Lets have a look at the skiing mall in Dubai in UAE.
Every morning, the visitors
to the mall are welcomed with
artificial snowing in this Ski
Dubai at the edge of a desert.
The snow is created by
spraying water into the freezing air. Fun-seekers and children often hit the slopes for
hours of downhill skiing,
snowboarding and sledging.
When the locals come here,
they rent everything for skiing
- even socks, jackets, pants
and boots. They need to do so
since traditional Emirati clothing - a long white shirt-like
dress for men and a black
cloak for women - is not
suited for skiing and cold.
In summer the high temperature averages about 40 degree Celsius in Dubai and the
temperature remains at 14 degree Celsius in winter.
Before this mall opened, locals had never seen snow. Traditional pastimes reflected life
in the desert. People raced
camels, raised falcons and organised poetry contests.

Knuckle crack sound

You may have cracked knuckles

at the end of class test to get
relief. And it makes a sound.
But, what makes the sound?
The sound is heard when
cracking knuckles due to a cavity forming rapidly inside the
finger joints, scientists found.
They pulled on someones finger and filmed what happens in
the MRI.
You can actually see what is
happening inside the joints,
scientists said.
The fingers were inserted into

a tube connected to a cable that

was slowly pulled until the
knuckle joint cracked. MRI video
captured each crack occurring
in less than 310 milliseconds.
The cracking and joint separation was associated with the
rapid creation of a gas-filled
cavity within the synovial fluid,
a super-slippery substance that
lubricates the joints.
Its a little bit like forming a
vacuum. As the joint surfaces
suddenly separate, there is no
more fluid available to fill the increasing joint volume, so a cavity is created. This event makes
with the sound, scientists said.
The amount of force at work
when you crack your knuckles is
enough to cause damage to
hard surfaces.
