oldest universities in Southern Philippines. It is a non-sectarian school
offering the most number of college programs in this part of the
country.
Located in Davao City, it has contributed immensely to the rapid growth
of Southern Mindanao through its successful graduates, both in private
and the public sector.
The University of Mindanao has ten branches spread over thirteen
campuses in Southern Mindanao. It is the largest private university in
Mindanao with the most number of PACUCOA accredited programs in the
country today.

2. Show dedication and initiative in engineering research
and innovation, or entrepreneurial ventures, and
professional development.

COMPUTER ENGINEERING
PROGRAM
General Objectives
To prepare the students for professional engineering career who will
efectively and efficiently meet the scientific, technological and various
needs of business, industries and communities in the global economy.
Aside from their professional knowledge and skills, the graduates must
also possess strong foundation in the physical and basic engineering
sciences as well as in human relations to enable them to meet the
challenges being brought about by the rapid technological developments.

Specific
objectives
The Graduates of the BSCpE program must be:

Prepared to undertake research and development.

Able to conduct systems analysis, perform system design

and development and implement project management
Able to provide appropriate technical support
Able to conduct personnel development

Able to engage in continuing professional development

Able to engage in technopreneurship and practice professional

ethics.

Computer Engineering
Computer Engineering is a profession that applies engineering principles and
methodologies in the analysis, design, implementation and management of
hardware, software and the integration of both.

Overview
Computer engineering (CpE) brings a core competency and unique value of
integrated knowledge in both computer software and hardware, providing a
balance among computer systems, hardware and software as well as theory
and applications. By properly choosing electives, students can specialize in
knowledge areas such as computer architecture, computer system
engineering, digital signal processing, embedded systems, intelligent systems,
networking and communication and security. Also, opportunities for cooperative
education provide students a better understanding of the industrial applications
of computer engineering technologies. Graduates will be prepared to pursue
Graduate studies in computer engineering or they can choose from many
diferent careers related to computers and their applications in high technology
environments.

Program Outcomes
a) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics and science to solve
engineering problems
b) An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and
interpret data
c) An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired
needs
within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social,
political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability, in
accordance with standards
d) An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams
e) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
f) An understanding of professional and
ethical responsibility
g) An ability to communicate efectively
h) A broad education necessary to understand the impact of
engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal
context
i) A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning
j) A knowledge of contemporary issues
k) An ability to use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools
necessary for engineering practice
l) A knowledge and understanding of engineering and management
principles as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in
multidisciplinary
environment
s
m) A knowledge of probability and statistics, including applications appropriate
to the program name and objectives

n) A knowledge of mathematics through diferential equations, basic

sciences, computer science, and engineering sciences necessary to analyze
and design
complex electrical and electronic
devices, software, and
systems
containing
hardware
and
software
components,
as appropriate
to
program
objectives.
