1.

Objectives
To investigate the personal trait, characteristics and attributes of leader that people demand
as a leader in community.
To study more detail by applying Leadership and Professional Ethnics in survey assignment.
To find out the general perception people toward leadership.

2. Methodology
Data Gathering
We gather information and data by giving the questionnaire about leadership
survey from the students of UiTM Shah Alam, several locations in Shah Alam such as
Kristal Height, and PKNS. The respondents were instructed to complete the
questionnaire and return to us. We obtain the data from the questionnaire, and get
response from the student, lectures and people about characteristics in UiTM Shah
Alam. The data gathered from questionnaire are required for this report to support and
guide us in analyzing the results we get from the respondents. Information that was
extract from the questionnaire are used for further discussion on the results
Data Analysis
Graphs and charts are used through this survey project in analyze the data
gathered. The way we visualize the data would help us ease in identifying and analyzing
the personal traits, characteristics and attribute of leader that people demand as a
leader.
Data Interpretation
The data collected was interpreted into three categories group of ages which are:Group 1:-People aged 18 to 29
Group 2:-People aged 30 to 45
Group 3:-People aged 46 and above

The questions were created based on these objectives and the findings then were computerized
in charts and graphs for clearer view.
Scope and limitation
Our scope is focus on the people inside the UiTM Shah Alam campus and lives near
UiTM Shah Alam. The limitation of our observation is poor of survey responded and lacking of
question about leadership during analyzing the data .Besides that, we chose are certain people
to answering our questionnaire due to English language question.

3. Terms of reference
On 1th of April 2015, a group of EHH221 6B about 10 member group student of
Nurfarahin Fatiha, Noor Farahanis, Faiz Shafiq , Muhammad Sofie, Noorhafizuddin ,Muhammad
Zakwan, Sheikh Muhammad Faiz ,Sudini Abdul Kahar ,Siti Nurshahira and Nur Amalina were
assigned to prepare a report by Dr Syed Shatir A. Syed-Hassan a lecturer for Leadership and
Professional Ethics for Engineering (CPE 690) on Personal traits, Characteristics and
Attributes ofLeader. The full report is to be submitted on 8th of April 2015. It contains of
Introduction, Methodology, Analysis Data and Conclusions.

4. Introduction
Understanding the expectation of others on leaders is important in developing leadership
skills and to prepare oneself to become a future leader. Leadership is the individuals who are
the leader in an organization, regarded collectively. Leadership are involves establishing a clear
vision, sharing that vision with others so that they will follow willingly besides providing the
information, knowledge and methods to realize that vision.
The purpose of this report is to investigate the personal traits, characteristics and attributes of
leaders that people are always looking for and expecting from their group leaders. The
information of report was gathered from distributing the survey forms to people. The survey form
consist 10 objective questions where every answer has their own characteristics of leaderships.
The survey forms were distributed to the people with three different ranges of ages which are

18-29 years old, 30-45 years old and 46 years old and above. There are belonging among
students, lecturer, neighbors and others.

5. Primary Data
The data was gathered through questionnaire which was distributed to the students in UiTM
Shah Alam and people live in Shah Alam. The questionnaire was divided into three parts
depends on the objectives.

Based on graph 1, there shows that people from age 18 years old to 29 years old more choose
visionary and charismatic characteristics. There are about 17 person choose visionary
characteristic while 16 person choose charismatic. In addition, people that choose influencing
characteristic are lowest where there are only 6 people only. Other than that, firm/persistent and
decisive characteristics have a same number of people which is 12 people. For credible
characteristic, there is only having 13 people in this age. This graph also shows that there have
14 people choose concern characteristic in this range of age.

Based on graph 2, people from 30 to 45 years old more choose charismatic characteristic where
there have 17 people. For visionary and concern characteristic, there have same number of
people choose this characteristic which is 14 people. In addition, credible and open-minded
characteristics have been chosen by this range of age which is 12 people. Other than that, 9
people have been choosing wise and confidence characteristics.

Based on graph 3, people that aged 46 years old and above choose concern characteristic for
the first place which is 16 people while wise characteristic for second place where there have 14
people. Visionary and firm/persistent have a same number of people where there are 14 people.
In addition, credible characteristic have 11 people and charismatic characteristic have 10 people
had choose. Confidence characteristic have a lowest number of people which is only 9 people.

Graph 4 shows the overall result where it can be concluding that every group choose young
person to be the leader. This is shown from the number of graph where there are 17 people, 15
people and 16 people from group 1, group 2 and group 3 respectively. Group 1 is aged from 18
to 29 years old, group 2 is aged from 30 to 45 years old while group 3 is aged 46 years old and
above.
