Astute entrepreneurs and savvy executives acknowledge the importance of spotting and
acting on emerging trends in order to capture market opportunities, test risks, and spur
innovation.
This course will introduce the students to the latest developments across the core
functional areas of business management and help them understand the impact that these
trends have on countries, societies, organizations, and individuals.
Furthermore, the course is also designed to increase awareness of current issues and
trends in which businesses, government entities, and NGOs collaborate in order to
address social and environmental issues.
Ultimately, students will appreciate how the interaction between these emerging forces
and business establishments can shape management practices, influence decision-making
processes, and address societal challenges.

LEARNING OUTCOME
By the end of the term, students must be able to:
L01: Understand the importance of spotting and knowing how to
act upon the latest trends in the core functional areas of
marketing, finance, production, and human resources
management.
L02: Determine how these trends affect the management
practices, influence the decision-making processes, and spur
innovative thinking among corporate leaders and entrepreneurs.
L03: Appreciate the impact of management trends on the manner
by which domestic and international firms operate.
L04: Develop a systems perspective of management trends either
as entrepreneurs who own promising start-ups or as corporate
leaders in charge of running multinational business operations.
LO5: Design a simulated Business Trends & Innovation Fair
aimed at generating excitement among the business community
through ground-breaking trends and innovations in the core
functional areas of management.
L06: Write a position paper that do not only follow the prescribed
format but that are also grammatically correct, well-organized,
and concise.
LO7: Synthesize relevant articles on the latest trends in the core
functional areas of finance, marketing, production and human
resources management.
