Abernathy helped to organize. Rabbi Gamoran marched in Selma and it was really
eye opening to talk to someone who had actually been at a march. I think it helped
us understand what it actually felt like to be standing up for someone's rights.

participated in the Civil Rights Movement himself. He was the president of a
youth division of the NAACP. We interviewed him so we could get the
perspective of someone who actively took part in the movement, like Ralph
Abernathy. He helped us to understand the feeling of participating in something as
big as the Civil Rights Movement. He also explained why he looked up to
Abernathy.
