PRESENT SIMPLE / COMPARATIVE AND


SUPERLATIVE FORM

ORIENTACIONES
In this unit we will remember some Verbs to work with the
simple present tense.
Check the grammar structures and the conjugation with
the verbs in the third person singular ( he,she,it)
We will be comparing things using Comparative and
superlative form, there are some rules to consider and
dont forget that you need adjectives to start working.
Pay attention to the spelling rules of the nouns.
You will find a flow chart of the structure of the company.

PRESENT SIMPLE
We use the Present Simple for things which:
are always true, or are true for a long time.
He goes to work by bus.
are a habit. (They are true sometimes,
always, usually etc.)
I usually have dinner at 6 oclock.
She sometimes drinks coffee.

SIMPLE PRESENT (for routines)


Remember that we use this tense to talk about routines,
normal everyday activities. The things that you must do on
a normal work day.
1. I usually have breakfast at 7:30.
2. She seldom starts studying at 8:30.
3. We always have lunch at noon.
4. I sometimes go to the cinema with my friends in the evening.
5. We often surf the internet.
6. My grandmother goes for a walk once a week.
7. I always take sugar in my coffee.
8. They attend marketing conventions twice a month.
9. Frank and Sylvia travel to Paris several times a year.

SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

COMPARATIVE FORM
comparatives: we use the comparative form to compare two
people, things or animals.
when the adjective has one or two syllables we add er to
the adjective and we write than after the adjective.
example: Sam is taller than Tom.
when the adjective has more than two syllables we write
more before the adjective and than after it.
example: maths is more difficult than language.
spelling:
the adjectives that end in consonant + vowel + consonant we
double the consonant.
example: big - bigger
fat - fatter.
the adjectives that end in consonant +y we add ier
example: heavy - heavier
easy - easier.

COMPARATIVE
Write comparative sentences:

We use the superlative to compare more than two
people, things or animals.
When the adjective has one or two syllables we add
est to the adjective and we write the before the
adjective.
example: Sam is the tallest boy in the classroom.
when the adjective has more than two syllables we
write the most before the adjective
example: maths is the most difficult subject of all.

SUPERLATIVES

When witing sentences in Present Simple, be sure you
remember the spelling rules to work with the 3rd person
singular.The general rule is to add s ,but if the verbs end in
ch,sh,ss,x, or o add es.If the verbs end in consonant+y,
change by i and add es (ies).

To make comparisons identify the adjective and apply the


rules.
Be careful with the irregular nouns when changing into plural.
Use the business tems connected to company structure.
