GENERAL PURPOSE
The Clinton City Fire Department Firefighter/AEMT performs a variety of duties
related to protecting life, incident stabilization and property conservation in
Clinton City and neighboring communities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the close supervision of the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief and Company
Officers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.

Education and Experience


A. Graduation from High School or equivalent
B. Utah State Certified Firefighter II, Advanced EMT and
HazMat Operations.

2.

Special Qualifications
A. Must pass pre-employee drug/alcohol screen, criminal
background and physical examination.
B. Must have a current/valid Utah State Drivers License.
C. Each applicant must live within a 15 mile radius of the Fire Station.
D. Must be CPR certified and maintain certification.
E. Preference will be given to candidates who have current ACLS,
PEPP, and PHTLS certifications.

F. Davis County Entry Level Physical Agility Test Certificate (Valid 1 year
from completion date) from DATC. For new certificate or renewal of

Test date is Friday May 29, 2015 or Saturday May 30, 2015.

Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


AEMT: Evaluates patients condition and/or injuries; evaluates accident scenes
and/or medical emergencies and administers aid per local and department
protocols; monitors patients vital signs and provides advanced life support until
transported to the hospital or transfer of care is rendered to higher medical
authority
Firefighter: Participates in a wide range of fire prevention and suppression
techniques, principals and procedures, receives specialized training in salvage and
rescue operations.
Responds to fire alarms, performs as a member of the fire fighting team, responds
to and performs as a member of the Emergency Medical Team. Performs fire
ground skills such as rescue, water supply, fire attack and ladder operations, and
performs salvage operations.
Follows Fire Department protocol in conducting fire prevention inspections on
various types of facilities. Assists in tours and instructions to civic groups
requesting tours and first aid demos, attends public gatherings to ensure
observation of life and fire safety requirements.
Prepares and submits a variety of reports pertaining to fire and medical incidents.
Performs general maintenance on fire department buildings, equipment and
grounds.
Participates in the approved department physical fitness program to maintain an
adequate level of fitness and health. Makes recommendations concerning the
selection of technical equipment and supplies.
Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Ability to follow detailed verbal or written instructions, work in dangerous
emergency situations, perform strenuous physical labor, communicate effectively
verbally and in writing, assimilate modern fire prevention and firefighting skills,
perform under extreme weather conditions, work twelve and twenty-four hour
duty shifts, develop effective working relationship with supervisors, fellow
employees of Clinton City, and the public.

Work Environment
Functions of the position may include working in hazardous environments.
Physical readiness and fitness may be a condition of job retention. Various levels
of mental application are required including attention to detail, emotional
stability, discriminate thinking and creative problem solving.

5.

Probation
Entry level employees in this job classification will serve a probationary period
for six months which job performance will be carefully evaluated.
