The Crown Chakra Sahasrara
The crown chakra is also known as the sahasrara chakra in Sanskrit. The
sahasrara chakra is outside the physical body above the top of the head. The
location is noted on the above diagram as the glowing pink purple light just
above the purple light of the third-eye chakra.
The sahasrara or seventh chakra is the gateway to the subconscious,
connection to the greater universe or universal energy, a window onto nonordinary reality, and the seat of ones spirituality. The crown chakra is
associated with out of body phenomena and mystical experiences.
Its important to note that note that spiritual is not the same as religious. Here
spirituality is used in the boarder sense. It is that which is not of the physical
world. It refers to an individuals core beliefs about being and beyond, its that
which is held sacred and is related to souls purpose or mission. Some say that
it is the pursuit or process of transcendence. Others associate spirituality
with non-ordinary reality.
Some people associate the chakras with the life cycle. There are various
theories on the correspondence between chakras and human and spiritual
development. According to the one that resonates with me, the crown chakra
represents the mid 50s through the end of life. This is a time of life
characterized by self acceptance, experiential wisdom, compassion and
spiritual maturity.
People with a balanced or strong crown chakra tend to be joyful, purposeful, in
touch with their true inner nature and comfortable with their own form and
expression of spirituality. They tend to have a sense of higher purpose (e.g.
humanitarianism), are selfless, able to act without ego and have a connection
with something greater than themselves.
People with an imbalanced or dysfunctional crown chakra may feel that their
life is without meaning or sense of purpose, they may feel alone or
incomplete and possess an intense fear of death. They may lack spirituality or
be spiritually confused or indecisive. People with imbalanced crown chakras
often have energetic imbalances. They may feel disassociated from, or to some
degree unattached to, their physical body.
On the physical level, the crown chakra is aligned with the pineal gland, the top
of the head, cerebrum, brain, nervous system, pituitary gland and endocrine
system. The relationship of the pineal gland to the crown chakra is particularly
interesting and critical to the chakras function. The pineal gland is the link
between the physical and spiritual, and the source of a persons accessible
etheric energies. This is central to the spiritual aspect of the crown chakra and
the spirituality of humans. Some physical manifestation of seventh chakra
disfunction include pineal gland issues, nervous system problems, mental
disorders and depression.
Essential Oils for the Crown Chakra
Based on their attributes, I can match essential oils to a chakra according to
the energetic, emotional, mental and physical attributes of the chakra. But,
when I select them for an individual, I select them based on how the imbalance

in that particular chakra manifests within that particular person. Alternatively, I

select the essential oils according to the specific situation or the intention of
the person.
Im not of the opinion that a specific essential oil is always good for a particular
chakra, e.g., vetiver, a classic root chakra essential oil, is NOT always helpful
when working with the root chakra. For me, it depends on the manifestation of
the imbalance and the specific intentions.
Some common essential oils for the crown chakra are:
Anise Seed (Pimpinella anisum)
Basil (Ocimum basilicum)
Benzoin (Styrax benzoin)
Elemi (Canarium luzonicum)
Frankincense (Boswellia cateri)
Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua)
Myrtle (Myrtus communis)
Palo Santo (Bursea graveolens)
Sandalwood (Santalum album)
Spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Frankincense and sandalwood are probably the two essential oils most
frequently identified with the crown chakra. Both promote meditative states,
encourage higher states of consciousness, expand the crown chakra, support
spiritual connection and growth and assist with transition from life to death (or
the after life).
Sandalwood encourages astral projection.
Frankincense expands the aura and helps awaken ones spiritual or soul
purpose. Frankincense also works on physical manifestations of crown chakra
dysfunction such as anxiety, restlessness, nervous tension and stress-related
condition, in general.
Spikenard and galbanum are two additional well-known crown chakra
essential oils.
Spikenard inspires spiritual commitment and devotion, assists with animal
communication and allays fears of, and prepares one for, transition.
Galbanum has unique attributes in that it works on psychic level, promotes
channeling and clears psychic blocks. It also aids meditation, expands the auric
field, creates a spiritual connection and reveals ones life purpose.
Although less well known than spikenard and galbanum, myrtle possess
significant crown chakra properties. It expands the auric field, creates a
connection with the divine, helps access higher vibrations, stimulates and
strengthens deep inner wisdom and provides protection and supports during
transition.
Basil and benzoin have both significant subtle and therapeutic attributes.
Basil raises vibrations, realigns subtle energies and stimulates clairaudience
and spiritual connection, including the call to service and selfless or
humanitarian pursuits. On the physical level, basil addresses hysteria,
indecision and feelings of vulnerability or lack of control.
Benzoin supports meditation and encourages spiritual journeys and astral
travel. It addresses tension, stress, other nervous conditions and depression.
Mastic (Pistacia lentiscus) creates a connection and increases receptivity to
spiritual guidance. Anise seed promotes and sharpens intuitive, telepathic,

clairvoyant and clairaudient capacities. Opopanax (Commiphora guidotti) and

elemi open one to mystical experiences and assist in balancing and integrating
spiritual and earthly energies. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) expands and aligns
the crown with other chakras. Juniper (Juniperus osteosperma utahensis) is
expansive, uplifting and encourages one to speak ones inner truth. Palo
santo helps one internalize spiritual development and identify ones life
purpose.
Several essentials work primarily on seventh chakra issues in the
physical body.
Angelica (Angelica archangelica) addresses nervous tension and weakness,
fatigue and especially fatigue that appears unrelated to physical exertion,
feelings of hopelessness and indecision and other stress-related conditions.
Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora) is a nervous system tonic. It balances, calms
and uplifts. Rosewood is especially well suited for those who feel overwhelmed
or deadened by life burdens.

NOTE: In general, the best approach is to make the selection of essential oils
after conducting anaromatherapy consultation, which includes an holistic
health assessment that keeps the clients intentions, preferences and the
current context in mind.
Third Eye Chakra Ajna
The third-eye chakra is also known as the ajna chakra in Sanskrit. The ajna
chakra is in the middle of the forehead. The location is noted on the above
diagram as the glowing deep purple light just above the blue light of throat
chakra.
The ajna or third eye chakra is associated with intuition and perception. It is
related to our openness and ability to learn from experience and integrate the
ideas of others. The ajna is the center of both conscious and subconscious
beliefs, and it is a window onto non-ordinary reality.
The ajna works a bit like a control center for the chakra system, and it
integrates the other chakras much like the pituitary gland regulates hormones
and integrates the physical body. Not surprising, the third eye chakra is
associated with the pituitary gland, the brain and nervous system. It is also
connected to the sensory systems through the eyes, ears and nose. Touch is
the only sense governed by the crown chakra. While most often linked with the
crown chakra, some people associate the pineal gland with the third eye. The
sense organ is the ears.
Some people associate the chakras with the life cycle. There are various
theories on the correspondence between chakras and human and spiritual
development. According to the one that resonates with me, the third eye
chakra represents the mid to late 20s through middle age (mid 50s). This is a
time of life characterized by increasing spirituality and an awakening of higher
consciousness.
People with vital and balanced third eye chakras are open, preceptive and
intuitive. They tend to draw from and use information from all of their senses
and are easily able to integrate. They are comfortable with new ideas, and their
beliefs often evolve with their experiences. Having an open and unconstrained

third eye chakra, they are typically at ease with psychic, energetic and other
spiritual concepts and experiences.
Imbalance or disfunction of the third eye chakra can manifest in rigid thoughts
and beliefs, dogmatism, prejudice, clouded reasoning or thinking, inability to
access or assess intuition, and fear of what cannot be known with a degree of
certainty or proven. People with a weak or imbalanced third eye often remark
that they feel disjointed, incomplete (not whole) or unintegrated.
Third eye chakra imbalances tend to physically manifest in the central nervous
system and related physiology. This can include nervous disorders, learning
disabilities, spinal issues, strokes, brain tumors, vision and eye problems,
hearing issues and deafness. Problems associated with pituitary disfunction are
also present with third eye imbalances.
Essential Oils for the Third-Eye Chakra
Some common essential oils for the third eye chakra are:
Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis)
Carrot seed (Daucus carrota)
Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua or Ferula gummosa)
German chamomile (Matricaria recutita)
Grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi)
Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha)
Nutmeg ( (Myristica fragrans)
Palo Santo (Bursea graveolens)
Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium)
Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
St Johns Wort (Hypericum perforatum)
Sandalwood (Santalum album)
Bay laurel, galbanum and carrot seed are quintessential third eye chakra
essential oils. Bay laurel works on energetic, emotional and physical levels,
and is energetically integrative. It promotes and strengthens initiation and
psychic abilities. It releases old outmoded thought patterns and provides an
opening for new thoughts and perspectives. Bay laurel also has a significant
calming tonic effect on the nervous system, and has been used to address
psychoses and other forms of mental disfunction. Galbanum also helps to shed
outmoded thought patterns and beliefs and aligns the brain with ones spiritual
purpose. It aids in the clarification of ones life purpose and expansion of the
auric field and energy bodies. It encourages channeling and reception of
psychic information. Both galbanum and carrot seed clear psychic blocks.
Carrot expands the third eye, increases inner vision, integrates the spiritual
with the physical and opens one to others views and, in so doing, extend ones
own perception. Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora) also expands the third eye.

Nutmeg is liberating. It releases old stagnant or inflexible thought patterns

opening one to fresh new and expansive mental activity. Palo Santo helps to
reveal ones personal path and life purpose, and integrates the spiritual with
ordinary reality.
St Johns wort, sandalwood (Santalum album) and palo santo aide the third eye
in its role of balancing the chakras. St Johns Wort also opens the mind to
psychic dreams and helps one to remember and understand them. Opopanax
(Commiphora guidotti) opens one to the mystical. Both German and Roman
chamomile and yarrow (Achillea milleflorium) facilitate connection with nonordinary realities, source and angelic realms or vibrations.
Other essential oils that strengthen and expand the intuition are black spruce
(Picea mariana), cistus (Cistus landiferus), grapefruit, jasmine (Jasminium
grandiflorium), Siberian fir (Abies sibirica)and silver fir (Abies alba). Yarrow,
cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) and nutmeg promote psychic awareness.
Cinnamon along with German and Roman chamomile promote the flow
of chi through the physical and subtle bodies.
Everlasting (Helichrysum italicum) works on the physical manifestations of third
eye disfunction such as depression, debility, nervous exhaustion, trauma and
phobias. Grapefruit is another essential oil that works on the physical level. It
addresses depression, headaches, nervous exhaustion and stimulates and
sharpens the senses. While frankincense (Bowellia carteri) and sandalwood are
often thought of as a third eye essential oils, I associate them more with the
crown chakra. However, on the physical level, both are very usual for nervous
conditions. German and Roman chamomile are sedatives as well. Manuka
(Leptosperum scoparium) balances or rectifies the sympathetic and
parasympathetic nervous system responses.

NOTE: In general, the best approach is to make the selection of essential oils
after conducting anaromatherapy consultation, which includes an holistic
health assessment that keeps the clients intentions, preferences and the
current context in mind.
The Throat Chakra Vishuddha

The throat chakra is also known as the vishuddha chakra in Sanskrit. The
vishuddha chakra is in the middle of the neck or throat. The location is noted
on the above diagram as the glowing blue light just above the green heart
chakra.
The vishuddha or throat chakra is associated with speech and communication.
This includes the communication of our personal and spiritual truth.
Vishuddha is not only about speech and forms of communication, but also the
projection of our will, purpose, intentions, desires and creative impulses. While
the throat chakra is about aspirations for ourselves, it is also about what we
aspire for others, humanity and the world. In this way, the throat chakra is
interconnected to both the solar plexus and sacral chakras; yet another
illustration of the interdependence of the chakras, and how our status tends to
be a reflection the balance or dysfunction of more than one chakra at any time
(see other blog posts on Essential Oils and the Chakras for other examples).
The throat chakra is where we open to higher wisdom, our higher selves and
our souls. It is where we connect to guides and other energetic forces. It is the
source of our personal and spiritual pride. A clear, balanced and strong chakra
is needed to assert our aspirations and manifest our intentions. People with
vital and balanced throat chakras communicate well and are able to articulate
their aspirations and speak their truth.
The throat chakra governs the throat, vocal cords, neck and cervical vertebrae,
esophagus, thyroid, parathyroids, hypothalamus, mouth, teeth and ears. Throat
chakra imbalances can manifest in thyroid
problems, swollen glands, sore throats, speech problems, sinus or ear
infections or pain and stiffness in the neck, shoulders and arms.
Some people associate the chakras with the life cycle. There are various
theories on the correspondence between chakras and human and spiritual
development. According to the one that resonates with me, the throat chakra
represents the age of 18 through the mid to late 20s. These are important
years during which we aspire to be someone, formulate our purpose and
establish a sense of our connection and obligation to the broader world that lies
beyond our family, friends and community.

When people are really stuck or blocked, there is usually a connection to this
chakra. People with throat chakra dysfunctions have a difficult time expressing
themselves, and this difficulty can manifest in a number of ways. As with all the
other chakras, a persons dysfunction can be inward (yin) or outward (yang).
People with a yin type of throat chakra dysfunction can lock their feelings,
thoughts and opinions up inside. They often say that they feel like they arent
being heard or that they refrain from speaking their minds because they fear
the possible repercussions for others or themselves. Shame, doubt and
resentment are common sentiments of this type of throat chakra imbalance.
People who have the yang type of throat chakra imbalance tend to have more
outward expression. They can be talkers, conversation interrupters and poor
listeners. A person with yang throat chakra dysfunction might be called closed
minded, doesnt listen, isnt open to others views, resists reflection and change
and is oftentimes judgmental.
Essential Oils for the Throat Chakra
Based on their attributes, I can match essential oils to a chakra according to
the energetic, emotional, mental and physical attributes of the chakra. But,
when I select them for an individual, I select them based on how the imbalance
in that particular chakra manifests within the person. Alternatively, I select the
essential oils according to the specific situation or the intention of the person.
Im not of the opinion that a specific essential oil is always good for a particular
chakra, e.g., vetiver, a classic root chakra essential oil, is NOT always helpful
when working with the root chakra. For me, it depends on the manifestation of
the imbalance and the specific intentions.
Essential oils that address throat chakra imbalances are varied, but there are
very few bright, volatile top notes (e.g., citruses) among the group. The most
appropriate essential oils are those associated with communication, speaking
ones truth, confidence, openness and letting go of fear. These include:
Allspice (Pimenta dioica)
Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis)
Black spruce (Picea mariana)
Calendula (Calendula officinalis)
Cedar (Cedrus atlantica)
Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus)
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)
Fragonia (Agonis fragrans)
Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
Jasmine (Jasminum graniflorum)
Juniper berry (Juniperus communis)
Lemon eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora)
Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha)
Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium)
Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora)
Sandalwood (Santalum album)
Spearmint (Mentha spicata)
Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa)
Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)

As mentioned above, the throat chakra is about communication. People with

throat chakra dysfunction may block or ignore their own inner voice, fear
expressing themselves or be unable to hear or listen. Receptivity and listenings
are critical aspects of communication. Myrrh, lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
and neroli (Citrus aurantium) help one to listen and hear. Lavender helps one
calm down and let go of the need to talk incessantly. Carrot seed stimulates
ones ability to understand another persons point of view and have
compassion.
Geranium increases ones capacity for intimate communication, in particular.
Bay laurel releases outmoded ways of thinking, and opens one to perspectives
of others and to new ideas and perspectives, in general. Tuberose and fennel
encourage honest and frank communication. Both generate an atmosphere of
love for the self and others. Tuberose calms and soothes while fennel supports
greater confidence, courage and motivation. Black spruce promotes
communication of inner feelings. Ylang Ylang, black pepper (Piper nigrum),
ginger, rosewood, neroli, hyacinth, myrrh and thyme (Thymus vulgaris) all
instill courage.
Fragonia is the essential oil that comes to mind when a person is blocked, stuck
or resistant, which is often the case with a dysfunctional throat chakra. It can
release deep seated blockages, balance the mind and body and promote inner
harmony. Myrrh helps break through blockages as does spearmint and some
standard smudging (or energy clearing) essential oils such as juniper, Virginia
cedar (Juniperus osteosperma), Atlantic cedar, black spruce and rosemary clear
energetic blockages. Spearmint is used to cleanse the emotional and mental
bodies, in particular. Juniper, rosemary and petitgrain can pull in positive,
protective energy and promote inner wisdom. Virginia cedar nourishes a strong
self image and expression of ones personal truth. Roman chamomile acts very
similarly, but it is also calming, balancing and harmonizing.
Calendula, Douglas fir (Pseudotsuaga menziesii), hemlock (Tsuga canadensis)
and Peruvian balsam (Myroxlon balsamum) stimulate opening; however,
jasmine is probably the quintessential essential oil to encourage openness
because it does this with joy and enthusiasm, dispelling fear that often holds
one back, and thus increasing access deeper truths. Jasmine also heightens
spiritual connection and awareness. Likewise, Roman chamomile and Petitgrain
help one see and express ones highest truths, cultivate acceptance and
patience and nourish the self image. Petitgrain promotes optimism and helps to
alleviate mental patterns associated with shame and obsessive behaviors.
Allspice encourages self expression, spearmint trust in the oneself.
Many of the essential oils derived from the pine family pines (Pinus), spruces
(Picea) and firs (Abies) can be used to address respiratory symptoms
associated with throat chakra dysfunction. Thyme, clove (Eugenia
caryophyllata) and both blue gum eucalyptus and lemon eucalyptus relieve a
variety of throat issues in the physical body such as laryngitis and coughs.
Cedar, geranium, frankincense (Boswellia cateri) and sandalwood support the
pituitary gland, the thyroid, parathyroids and hypothalamus.
The Heart Chakra Anahata

The heart chakra is known as the Anahata in Sanskrit. The Anahata chakra
is located in the middle of the chest between the breasts and to the right of the
physical heart. The location is noted on the above diagram the glowing green
light above the solar plexus chakra.
The Anahata or heart chakra is about love (love of self and others), love
relationships, affection, compassion, acceptance, kindness and trust. Its about
being open to giving and receiving. These are the characteristics of people with
vital or balanced heart chakras. For many spiritual practices and energy
healing modalities (e.g., Tummo Reiki and Sekhem-Seichim Reiki), the heart
chakra is the center of spiritual connection.
Compared to the solar plexus and the sacral chakras, the heart chakra is pretty
straight forward when it comes to emotional issues. However, what we
experience in the home while growing up and in our early years of forming
relationships, romantic and otherwise, have a strong influence on the heart
chakra. One can often find that the sacral and solar plexus chakras exhibit
strong links, tensions and influences on the heart chakra.
Dysfunction or imbalance in the heart chakra can manifest as emotional pain
and indecisiveness, sadness, depression, distrust, lack of compassion, fear of
rejection, paranoia, lack of fulfillment, seemingly insatiable yearning, fear of
emotional of sexual intimacy, feelings of abandonment, low self-esteem, self
criticism and even self hate.
In the physical body, the heart chakra is closely connected with the respiratory,
circulatory and immune system. Not surprisingly, heart chakra imbalances
manifest as lung, heart, circulatory and immune issues. Upper back problems
are common as well.
Some people associate the chakras with the life cycle. There are various
theories on the correspondence between chakras and human and spiritual
development. According to the one that resonates with me, the heart chakra
represents the age 13 or 14 to about 18. These are important years during
which we begin to forge our first love and sexual relationships. Our empathy
and compassion is at times challenged and then realigns with these strong
emotional and sexual needs and the desire for companionship.
Essential Oils for the Fourth or Heart Chakra Anahata

Allspice (Pimenta dioica)
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
Black spruce (Picea mariana)
Cajeput (Melaleuca cajeputi)
Cardamon (Elettaria cardamomum)
Carrot seed (Daucus carrota)
Hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis)
Lemon (Citrus limon)
Neroli (Citrus aurantium)
Palma Rosa (Cymbopogon martinii)
Peru Balsam (Myroxylon balsmum)
Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
Rose (Rosa damascena)
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora)
Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa)
Most people think of the heart when they think of rose, and, indeed, rose is a
quintessential heart chakra essential oil. It promotes love, compassion, hope
and an ability to experience deeper, more honest and meaningful relationships.
It cultivates nurturing and self love. Rose also instills an appreciation for
beauty. Palma Rosa is quite similar in attributes and effects on the heart
chakra.
Lemon and neroli are very much heart chakra essential oils. Both encourage
trust and a sense of security. Both open the heart chakra, dispel fear, allow love
in and promote hope and joyful love. Tuberose expands ones capacity for love.
Peruvian balsam opens the heart without judgement and recrimination and
cajeput clears blockages in the heart chakra.
Roman chamomile is harmonizing, peaceful and nurturing. It promotes feelings
of love and compassion for the self and others. It cultivates acceptance and
appreciation for ones own limitations. Carrot seed is similar in that it instills
compassion and self acceptance. It is joyful and uplifting while also grounding.
Allspice cultivates self love and allows one to express the truth in ones heart.
Bergamot and hyacinth also open the heart chakra, and hyacinth along with
black spruce invite forgiveness. Rosewood soothes the pains of separation or
abandonment and abates loneliness and sorrow, all emotions commonly
experienced in the heart chakra. Sandalwood (Santalum album) assists the
heart chakras connection with the root and sacral chakras. This helps to
ground feelings, thoughts and expressions of love. It also encourages a greater
sense of security.

Rosemary contributes strength and action. Rosemary promotes clear thoughts

and insights, strengthens and centers and instills self worth, self confidence,
self appreciation and enthusiasum. With these insights and resolve, it helps one
set boundaries in a relationship. Rosemary also supports the circulation of chi
and blood: heart chakra functions. Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) and
cinnamon (Cinnamum zeylanicum) are good for the physical and energetic
circulation, which is associated with the physical heart and heart chakra.
The Solar Plexus Chakra Manipura

The solar plexus chakra is also know as the manipura chakra in Sanskrit. The
manipura chakra is located below the base of the sternum and above the
navel. The specific location varies from person to person, but is typically
situated close to the sternum or just below it. The location is noted on the
above diagram the glowing yellow light just above the sacral or second
chakra.
The solar plexus chakra is the center of the will and personal power. Our
confidence and self-esteem reside here. Its through the solar plexus that we
see ourselves as individuals in the wider world and how the world looks back on
us. Some people equate the solar plexus with the ego.
The solar plexus chakra governs the digestion and organs associated with
digestion such as the stomach, small and large intestines, spleen, pancreas,
liver and gallbladder. The sense organs are the eyes.
People with vital and balanced solar plexus chakras have a strong and clear
sense of self and self worth. They are confident, manifest their intentions, take
responsibility for their actions and exert control over their lives.
Because of the connection with the digestive track, it is not surprising that
imbalances in the solar plexus manifest in the physical body as any of a wide
range of digestive issues: frequent constipation or diarrhea, ulcers, diabetes as
well as stomach, intestinal and liver problems. The solar plexus is also
associated with eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia, food addictions
and emotional dependence on comfort foods.
Issues of the solar plexus tend to take on extremes depending on whether
theres excess yin (inward) or excess yang (outward) in the body and energy

system. Imbalances often take the form of self criticism, internal conflict or
confusion over ones life purpose and what one can expect from life.
Many people who are too strongly governed by this chakra or have an over
developed solar plexus chakra are over thinkers they can be very rational and
analytical to the point of ignoring their more playful, creative nature. Distrust,
anger and greed can be associated with solar plexus imbalance. These
attributes are more outward in nature and more aggressive yang expressions of
imbalance.
Alternatively, a person may be suspicious or feel powerless, hopeless,
pessimistic, doubtful, frustrated or depressed. These attributes are associated
with inward focused yin excess and submissive imbalances.
In my experience, solar plexus chakra imbalances are often connected to sacral
chakra issues. For example, overbearing parents who rationalize their behavior
and rules often raise children who over think and over analyze and who learn
by experience to ignore their emotional and creative side. Hypercritical parents
instill hypercritical traits in their children, which implies the sacral chakras hold
on the solar plexus. Where there is a strong link between the solar plexus and
sacral chakras, it can simplify a blend to select essential oils that are good for
both types of chakra imbalances. This would include, but not be limited to
neroli, sandalwood and rosemary.
Some people associate the chakras with the life cycle. There are various
theories on the correspondence between chakras and human and spiritual
development. According to the one that resonates with me, the solar plexus
chakra represents the age of seven to puberty (or to 12 or 13 years). These are
important years during which we further develop and solidify our sense of self.
We leave this stage feeling we are adults even if this isnt quite the case.
Essential Oils for the Solar Plexus Chakra
Because imbalances tend to take on essentially two different extremes
depending on the yin/yang balance, its importance to take these energetic
attributes into consideration in the selection of essential oils for solar plexus
imbalances. Take the yin and yang expression into consideration and use oils
with more of the opposite quality. For example, if agitation and aggression
which associated with too much yang are present, emphasize yin essential oils.
Some common essential oils for the solar plexus are:
Black pepper (Piper nigrum)
Everlasting (Heliochrysum italicum)
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)
Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
Grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi)

Juniper (Juniperus communis)

Neroli (Citrus aurantium)
Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium)
Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
Rose (Rosa damascena)
Sandalwood (Santalum album)
Spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia)
Ylang Ylang (Cananga ordorata)
Most of the solar plexus essential oils clear negative energy and bring in
positive, supportive energy. This includes many middle and base notes:
fragrances that are heavier and unfold more slower than the bright top notes of
citruses, for example (see our blog on fragrance notes). Because of the
connection between the solar plexus and the digestive system, imbalances
often call for essential oils that aid the digestion such as black pepper, fennel,
ginger, grapefruit, German chamomile (Matricaria recutita), lemon (Citrus
limon), peppermint, and rosemary (Rosmarinus offinicalis). These essential oils
should not be ingested. Instead, properly dilute them (less than three percent)
in a carrier (organic vegetable oil) and lightly massage them into the abdomen.
Ylang Ylang is an excellent yang pacifying essential oil for solar plexus
imbalances. Its cooling and clearing. It clears anger, frustration and other
emotionally charged or agitated states. Ylang Ylang makes one feel lovable,
joyful and peaceful. Consequently, it promotes enthusiasm and confidence.
Black pepper, Cape chamomile (Eriocephalus punctulatus) and juniper release
feelings and energetic blockages associated with anger, frustration and
annoyance. Juniper also detoxifies and helps clear the liver. It strengthens the
will power and eases a sense of fear of failure, which supports the restoration
of self confidence and a sense of self worth. Roman Chamomile is calming and
promotes a feeling of peace. It dampens excessive ego and frustration. It
cultivates patience and self nurturing and helps one recognize and accept
ones own limitations without self criticism and recrimination. Fennel reduces
the tendency to over think and overanalyze. It generates a sense of self love,
self acceptance and self worth and gives one motivation, courage and
confidence.
Peppermint is a great essential oil for the solar plexus. It can both cool and
warm. It stimulates the flow of chi, especially in the digestive organs and in the
subtile bodies. It quills anger, pride and overheated thought patterns.
Peppermint instills a healthy self esteem and self image. Tea tree has several
unique attributes that treat solar plexus chakra imbalances. It provides support
in overcoming feelings of victimization and hopelessness. Helps one see and
accept the shadow self.
Spikenard works deeply. It nourishes a sense of hope, love and compassion
reflection. It releases fear of the unknown, opening one to courage and action.
Neroli promotes self confidence, inner trust and self acceptance; and it dispels
despair thats of an all encompassing nature. Neroli instills a sense of ease,
hope and joy. Both Neroli and Rose bring in positive energy. Rose is self
nurturing and instills self love and appreciation, trust and hope. Sandalwood
offers many of the same attributes with an additional connection to spirituality.

Grapefruit is cooling (more yin). It works on depression, lack of self confidence

and nervous exhaustion which are more yin in nature. Ginger is strong and
bright in nature. It helps those who suffer from a lack of motivation, especially
when it stems from a lack of confidence and positive self worth. It instils
confidence, courage and inner strength and reduces resistance. For those who
are lethargic, debilitated and/or suffering from nervous exhaustion, everlasting
is a good essential oil to choose.
he Sacral Chakra Svadisthana

The sacral chakra is also known as

the svadisthanachakra in Sanskrit. The svadisthana chakra is located above the
groin, below the belly button and in the center of the body. The location is
noted on the above diagram the glowing orange light just above the red root
chakra.
The svadisthana or sacral chakra is associated with family, sexuality, passion
and creativity. Our desires, passions and imagination are expressed through
this chakra. Many of our core beliefs are held or formed here. Within the body,
the sacral chakra is associated with the sexual organs, the uterus, prostrate,
bladder, kidneys and the sense of taste. The tongue is this chakras sense
organ.
People with vital or balanced sacral chakras draw on their creativity and
passion, and are comfortable with their physical and sexual
identities. They tend to have a warm and constructive approach to both
personal and professional relationships, and healthy family and love relations.
Imbalances in the sacral chakra tend to manifest in the physical body as eating
disorders, menstrual disorders, issues effecting the sex organs of either sex
and kidney problems.
In my experience, imbalances in the sacral chakra and issues or traumas tied
to this chakra are typically expressed in other chakras as well. This isnt hard to
understand given that the family influences all aspects of a persons life
through the extended process of childhood development. This starts with the
provision of basic needs (root chakra). Learning and experience is built upon
and shaped by the learning and experience that preceded it. In addition,
experience has a holistic nature and unrestricted to specific silos. Desires and
passions are closely linked to the heart chakra while creativity draws upon

intuition (the third eye or sixth chakra) and when its expressed it has ties to the
throat or the fifth chakra. These are just a few of the interconnections.
The signs and symptoms of the sacral chakra imbalance are varied. Sexual,
relationship or interpersonal limitations and issues are typically related to the
sacral chakra as are feelings of inadequacy and lack of self worth, self criticism,
victimization, loneliness and disassociation or obsession with the physical body
(frigidity, compulsive eating disorders and anorexia). People with sacral chakra
issues are typically over controlling of themselves, others and situations.
Perhaps its the tendency to constrain and control that ultimately leads to more
frequent emotional outbursts.
Some people associate the chakras with the life cycle. There are various
theories on the correspondence between chakras and human and spiritual
development. According to the one that resonates with me, the sacral chakra
represents the age of three or four to age seven when a child is still dependent
on its caregiver (mother), but is also attempting to step out into the world on
its own.
Essential Oils and the Sacral Chakra
Essential oils for the sacral chakra tend to have a stimulating scent and have
the effect of loosening one up emotionally, mentally, sexually or energetically.
They tend to encourage genuine personal expression either through creativity,
industry or formation of bonds and friendship. Some of the more common
essential oils include:
Bay Laurel (Laurus nobile)
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
Cardamon (Electtaria cardomomum)
Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)
Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum)
Orange (Citrus sinensis)
Neroli (Citrus aurantium)
Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora)
Sandalwood (Santalum album)
All of the above essential oils stimulate and open the sacral chakra, loosen or
release stuck energy and encourage sensual, sexual or creative expression.
Sandalwood is in some ways the quintessential essential oil for the sacral
chakra. It promotes positive self esteem and contentment with the self,
stimulates sensual and spiritual love and sexuality and regulates hormones and
the reproductive system. Clary sage also balances hormones and is an
important essential oil for womens reproductive issues. Clary sage is inspiring.

It stimulates the intuition and dream world without disconnecting one from the
body.
The citrus essential oils are uplifting and encouraging as well. They help one
experience events in a balanced and positive way and transmute harsher
experiences that may otherwise fester into debilitating memories and life-long
negative patterns. Bay laurel is stimulating, and it also promotes
communication of intuitive and imaginative ideas. Patchouli offers emotional
support as well as arouses sexuality and sensuality, allowing for a greater
sense of security in relationships.
When I think of opening, embracing, liberating and releasing inhibitions, I
always think Jasmine. It makes the process of opening up joyful rather than
fearful. It promotes love, sensuality and sexuality, creativity, and living in the
moment. Jasmine harmonizes and promotes wholeness.
If the sacral chakra issue is mostly about just being stuck, citruses and jasmine
create a blend for joyfully opening. If there is a lot of self recrimination,
patchouli and sandalwood provide love and support and a safe context for
more honest self assessment. Both of these essential oils as well as Neroli
could be included in a blend for someone who has experienced physical or
sexual abuse as a child. These are all deeper supportive scents. Neroli offers a
profound sense of ease. It helps one breath deeply, fill with peace and calm
and feel whole. It is such a unique and beautiful note.

aromatherapy diffuser oils and personal inhalers that support chakra balance.
The Root Chakra Muladhara

The root chakra is also known as the muladhara chakrain Sanskit. The
muladhara chakra is located at the base of the central light column, or the
spinal column, in the groin area or perineum: the area between the sex organs
and the anus. The location is noted on the above diagram the glowing red
light at the base of all the other chakras.
The muladhara or root chakra is associated with fulfillment of basic needs,
physical survival and safety. It is also related to the sense of belonging
belonging to a clan, tribe, ethnic group or some other group. Within the body,

the root chakra is closely affiliated with structure, bones, nervous system,
adrenals and the sense of smell. The nose is this chakras sense organ.
People with vital and balanced root chakras are grounded, independent,
dependable, physically and financially secure and thrive. People who have
weak or unbalanced root chakras tend to be fearful, anxious, insecure,
concerned about their physical or financial security, and hesitant. Typically,
sluggishness and the sense of being stuck is connected to root chakra.
Alienation is another common emotion. Imbalances of the root chakra are
associated with physical manifestations of the bladder, prostrate, testicles,
lower intestines and rectum, knees, legs and lower back.
Some people associate the chakras with the life cycle. There are various
theories on the correspondence between chakras and human and spiritual
development. According to the one that resonates with me, the root is about
our first experiences and becoming aware of ourselves as separate from the
world around us or the ages zero to three. Some say this is the seat of our ego.
Essential Oils and the Root Chakra
Essential oils for the root chakra tend to ground, center, unify, align all chakras,
protect and reconnect one with earth. Many offer a sense of calm, confidence
and security.
The essential oils closely associated with the root chakra tend to be made of
heavier molecules, and are characterized as base notes (see our blog
on fragrance notes), which are deeper, slowly unfolding, long lasting scents.
These include:
Angelica (Angelica Archangelica)
Cedar, Atlantic (Cedrus altantica)
Cedar, Himalayan (Cedrus deodora)
Frankincense (Boswellia carteri)
Linden Blossom (Tilia vulgares or T. europeae)
Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha)
Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
Spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi)
Veitver (Vetiveria zizanoides)
Depending on the situation or intention, many other essential oils may be
appropriate or even more relevant than these classic root chakra essential oils.
For example, a person experiencing a great deal of anxiety that manifests in
excessive worry, over thinking and sleeplessness will likely be restless and
ungrounded. Such a person may benefit from Bay Laurel (Laurus nobilis), Clary
Sage (Salvia sclarea) or Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), which address the
underlying emotions. Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) is helpful where these
feelings are accompanied with migraines and nervous exhaustion. Some
essential oils that address fear are Bergamot (Citrus bergamia), Melissa

(Melissa officinalis), Ravensara (Ravensara aromatica) and Ylang Ylang

(Cananga odorata). If the person is stuck, a nice addition to a blend is Black
Pepper (Piper nigrum). It unblocks energy and gets it moving.

Subtle aromatherapy can add powerful and pleasant complementary healing
for energy workers, Reiki practitioners or Reiki Masters. Subtle aromatherapy is
the use of pure and complete aromatic plant essence, essential oils to evoke
change in the physical, emotional, mental, energetic or spiritual bodies.
Aromatics have extremely powerful vibrational attributes that can support
energy work and other mind-body-spirit healing modalities. The use of
aromatics for their energetic properties (vibrational or subtle aromatherapy)
requires very little of the aromatic substance. The scent can be almost
imperceptible and it will still work. In fact, less is often better.
Energetic Aromatic Products

Starchaser designs and handcrafts all natural energetic products that support
client healing and support the energy worker or Reiki practitioner in his/her
healing work.

Many of our products can be used for the benefit of both the practitioner and
the client. For example, we have spritzes and diffuser oils that clear negative
energy and draw in more protective and positive energies. This creates a safer
healing environment very much like that acquired through the use of
smudging. Similarly, bath salts and salt scrubs are excellent for moving and
clearing energy and are helpful to clients and practitioners alike.
Weve listed some of the ways that aromatics can support energy healing to
provide an illustration and give practitioners an appreciation of how expansive
and helpful the application of aromatics can be.

stimulate the retrieval of intuitive information or enhance integration of
guidance.
Bath oils and salts, inhalers and diffuser oils for grounding.

development of healthy self love and compassion.
Anointing blends to align and/or strengthen the chakras.
Bath oils and salts, inhalers, diffuser oils and roll ons for grounding,

Custom-made Handcrafted Aromatic Products: We also work with practitioners
and clients to design and produce personalized or custom-made products. See

occasional nausea can be support or complemented with client inhalers,
diffuser oils, therapeutic balms and other products that reinforce the energy

Product Description
Each Starchaser aromatherapy diffuser oil blend contains a specific blend of several essential oils that have been selected by a registered certified
aromatherapist with an aim to support a specific intention such as energetic clearing, meditation, immune boost, concentration. See our blogs
on diffuser oils for energetic smudging/energetic clearing or essential oils for meditation. We have an extensive list of diffuser oil blends for
therapeutic and energetic purposes.

Diffuser oils can be used with most types of diffusers. Just a few drops are needed, in most instances (depending on the size of the space in
which the blend will be diffused and the intensity preferences of the user). Less is often better, especially with energetic diffuser oils. Very strong
or concentrated scents can be annoying and sensitizing.

The shelf life is approximately two years.

**Please note that we can custom design diffuser oil blends as well.**

Energy flows within and around the human body. This energy moves through a number of systems and includesbio-energy, chakras, meridians,
and auras. Energy work encompasses a wide range of mind-body-spirit healing practices that focus on the bodys energy systems and how they
relate to human health and well-being. Ancient Chinese and Indian healers understood and incorporated energy (qi, chi, and prana) into their

practices. As with these ancient practices, energy work relieves energy blockages and imbalances that are believed to be the underlying causes
of dis-ease and thus restores balance and supports healing and well-being.

Aromatherapy offers an all-natural way to support good health and healing and pamper oneself.
Starchaser creates aromatherapy products that treat the client through:

Olfaction (inhaling or smelling)

Absorption (applying to the skin in form of balms, lotion, oils)

Subtle aromatherapy (combined with energy work such as Reiki)

Aromatherapy is the use of natural plant aromatics (volatile components) that emit a distinct smell and energy that can invoke physical, mental,
emotional, energetic or spiritual change. These aromatic substances can be used to support healing, promote well-being, or simply provide
enjoyment. Typically aromatics are used in the form of all natural essential oils or a blend of essential oils.

Although scent is an important attribute of aromatics, they are also commonly applied and absorbed through the skin in the form of creams,
balms, sprays, and other products. The addition of aromatics to massage oil is an excellent way to enhance and even personalize the massage
experience. The massage is an excellent way to enhance the absorption of an aromatherapy blend.

Some common uses of aromatherapy are to:

Reduce stress and the physical, emotional, mental, and energetic impacts of stress

Uplift the spirits

Achieve and maintain balance

Support meditation and spiritual quest

Mental clarity and invigoration

Support other healing modalities (e.g., massage, reflexology)

Address physical conditions such as respiratory, muscular, and skin issues

Pamper oneself

All assessments are conducted by an ARC registered, and a NAHA and AIA-recognized professional aromatherapist.

Aromatherapy Consultations and Assessments

Aromatherapy consultations or assessments typically include four steps:

Holistic health assessment

Assessment review and consultation

Aromatherapy product and treatment design

Follow up

An aromatherapy consultation begins with the client filling out a detailed form covering the clients holistic health history, conditions, and reasons
for seeking aromatherapy, application preferences, and other information. This information can be provided prior to the actual consultation with
the aromatherapist. The client meets with the aromatherapist to review the information; this consultation can be conducted on the phone for
returning clients but is not recommended for first-time clients. The consultation lasts about 2030 minutes but may last slightly longer if the
information form is completed during the consultation. Following the consultation, the aromatherapist creates a unique blend and product to
address the clients needs and/or intentions such as to relieve stress, eczema or aches and pains. Products could in the form of massage or bath
oils, balms, creams, inhalers, etc.

Blends and products are designed to take into account the clients needs, his/her preferred method of application, the therapeutic attributes of
both the essential oils and carriers (vegetable oils, butters, clays, etc) and the best method of delivery for the specific product.

Products are typically developed after the in-person consultation. The consultation provides allows for greater exchange between the
aromatherapist and the client. Products can be picked up or mailed to the client, although, alternative arrangements can be made. The
aromatherapist will follow up with the client after one week by phone or email.

Phone consultations are possible for some types of conditions or complaints and for repeat clients.

The initial product (or products) is (are) included in the price of the consultation. Prices for refills will be assessed individually. For additional
information, contact us.

I work for an international organization and am always traveling to the other side of the world. Jet lag is a problem: waking up at 2:00 a.m. and
struggling to keep awake during my mid-afternoon meetings. Starchaser made a special custom-made jet lag bath blend for me. It works
fabulously. I put it in the bath the first one or two days of my trip. I sleep deeply and no longer wake up early or drag later in the day. Now I
never travel without it.

Vibrational or Subtle Aromatherapy
What Is Vibrational or Subtle Aromatherapy?

Vibrational or subtle aromatherapy deals primarily with the

energetic qualities

and application of aromatic substances and how they can energetically affect physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. Subtle
aromatherapy is a mind-body-spirit healing practice. It is used to promote and maintain good health, to work on an energetic level and on
energetic bodies, and to energy work, support meditation and spiritual practices.

See our page dedicated to energy workers and other practitioners interested in the energetic aspects and applications of aromatics
andaromatherapy products in energy work.

Starchaser conducts short workshops on integrated healing for practitioners and the general public. See our page on integrated healing
workshops. We also customize workshops for different audiences and topics upon request.

Starchaser creates and uses vibrational or energetic aromatic products alone or in combination with other healing modalities (e.g., Reiki,
massage and reflexology). These products are designed with the intention of promoting energetic influence and healing.

Some examples include:

sprays/spritzes to clear energy and draw in protection;

diffuser oils to support meditation, strengthen the aura or help integrate guidance and intuitive information;

anointing blends to align the chakras, and

bath oils and salts, inhalers and diffuser oils for grounding.

We infuse all our products with Reiki and other healing vibrations

We have numerous standard energetic products that are available on the product page of our website, but we also work with practitioners and
clients to design and produce personalized or custom-made products. See our product design process for details on personalized or custom-made
products.

Starchaser also creates aromatherapy products that are not specifically designed for energetic healing or energy work. They include health,
personal care and beauty products; basic first aid and other therapeutic products; and products designed for pampering and pure enjoyment.
Please see Aromatherapy for more information on these products and related services.

I attended a day of meditation and personal pathfinding at my church and Starchaser had a wonderful session on essential oils for meditation
and spiritual growth. We learned about the energetic and spiritual aspects of aromatherapy and essential oils. The history was fascinating. We
then got to sample different diffuser and inhaler blends. My favorite was Dispel Fear and Walk Courageously.

Barbara, Washington, DC

Starchasers (Patricias) introductory presentation to aromatherapy was very informative and fun. She illustrated how smell works and what
parts of the brain are involved in smelling. She explained how essential oils are extracted too. She presents it so clearly and enthusiastically.
What I loved, though, was the part where we got to smell different essential oils and compare how they effect us differently where they went
in the body and what memories and feelings they invoked.

What are the Documented Uses for Present Time Essential Oil? Anger, anxiety, argumentative, balance, clearing,
confusion, day-dreaming, depression (and suicidal depression) despondency, disappointment, fear, forgetfulness, frustration,
gingivitis, grief and sorrow, guilt, grounding, irritability, jet lag, loss of loved one, Lupus, moment, mood swings,
obsessiveness, panic, past, pregnancy (focus during birth), shock, spacing out, stress, sympathy, transitions and trauma.
What Body Systems are Affected? Nervous System
What is the Aromatic Affect on the Mind? Emotionally calming and balancing.
What is the Spiritual Influence? Present time forces the body to stay in the moment. This is excellent for those who live
in the past or the future and never are fully present.
Those who are dealing with loss or repressed emotions will benefit from this oil. Also those who tend to day-dream or
live in a world of illusion will be asked to come back to a sense of reality.
This is excellent for panic because usually the mind and the body become separated. This will bring alignment back to the
body and mind as a cohesive unit. This is what happens when people have "panic attacks"! You put yourself somewhere in
the future and it creates "anxiety" in the body. Smelling this oil will bring you right back to the moment.
What Chakra is Affected? Opens the solar plexus chakras.
How do I use it?
Use NEAT (undiluted) then,

Apply several drops (2-4) to wrists, edge of ears, neck and feet

Add several drops (2-4) to bath water

Apply to chakra/vitaflex points

Directly inhale, diffuse, or

Dilute 1:15 with vegetable oil for body massage.

Good oil for the First Aid Kit? No

Can this oil be used for Animals? Yes, absolutely.
I had a horse that was always perfect in the schooling area. And then the moment you walked in the ring, he "panicked",
lost his focus and sometimes would run at the jumps!I guess he would have "horse panic attack". If you compete in the
hunter ring, this is not good!
It was so frustrating to prepare and be perfect beforehand and then have such trouble in the ring. I tried many things
(training related and oil related) and in the end it was Present Time and Clarity that helped him stay focused and calm
during the whole course! I like to wear Present Time too, so it turned out that we had total synergy!
By the way, riders (and any athlete) can be very much the same way! So use it for both horse and rider!
Note about animals: Certain oils can be very toxic to cats. Citrus products and oils in particular that are not of therapeutic
grade! Please consult your vet if you are not sure about applying any essential oil to your pet.
What are the Safety Precautions? Present Time essential oil does not have any known contraindications. Non-irritating
and non-toxic.

Joy Essential Oil - Heal and Open

Your Heart to Joy and Happiness!

Joy Essential Oil is a beautiful blend of oils that brings love or joy to the heart. It will also help with grief, depression and a
whole bunch of other emotional feelings and memories!
From the start, Joy has always been one of my favorite blends. The smell is alluring and people always ask me what
perfume I am wearing! And it has so many emotional benefits why not wear it!

I also use it at the barn for horses that need an emotional lift! Especially if horses have not come from the most ideal
situation, then this may help them embrace and enjoy their job again!
I had one horse that was always sort of a slug and never really wanted to go to work. He wasnt a bad horse; he did every
thing just fine. But I had him inhale Joy and I placed a bit on his head and he was more enthusiastic about jumping then I
had ever seen!
I actually had fun riding him because I rather ride a horse with a bit of energy, then one you have to push! Everyone was
asking me...What has gotten into him today? I used it for about a week and then he never went back to being a slug again.
So Joy relieved him of his apparent total boredom and he had anew enthusiasm for his work!
This is a fun and easy reference guide for Joy Essential Oil Blend. It will tell youhow to use your oil blend and what to use it
for. It will also provide you with some fun tips and testimonials!

Forgiveness Essential Oil

Allows us to Forgive, Forget and Move On!

Forgiveness Essential Oil is a very powerful spiritual oilblend that has fifteen therapeutic grade oils!
The frequency of Forgiveness oil is 192 MHz which is considered extremely high for an essential oil blend. To give you a
comparison the human brain is 72-90 MHz and the body is 62-68 MHz.
Essential oils range from 52-320 MHz with the spiritual oils being over 90 MHz. Rose has the highest at 320 MHz.
Anything over the frequency of the human brain is considered extremely high!
Why is Frequency Important?
Frequency is an indicator of the vibration and energy of food, disease or life! For instance organic food has a higher vibration
than conventional food. Processed food is 0 MHz; and studies have shown that just eating lower frequency foods can bring
your overall frequency down! Essential Oils raise the vibrational level as soon as you smell them.
When the level of the essential oil is very high it helps us release things quicker by raising our spiritual
awareness. Forgiveness essential oil has this effect.
Using it daily can raise your vibration and allow the soul to forgive, forget and release on so many levels. And as we know
with most emotional and physical blocks (and disease), our first step starts when we can release denial and begin to
forgive ourselves.
Sacred Mountain, Exodus II and Joy essential oils are some other blends with extremely high frequency. Rose
Otto, Helichrysum and Melissa are single essential oils with frequencies over 100 MHz.

Forgiveness helps us let go of so many emotional issues from abuse and addictions to healing a broken heart so I hope you
will give it a try.
I have had fabulous results for myself and for my animals. I definitely use it often at the farm because so many horses
I see today also have emotional issues that they are so willing to let go of but they just dont know how. Forgiveness
essential oil may be the first step.
This is an easy reference guide for Forgiveness Essential Oil Blend. It will tell you how to use your oil blend and what to use
it for. It will also provide you with some fun tips and testimonials!
As I receive new tips and testimonials they will be added to the page, so check back frequently!

postpartum depression and hay fever.
My dog, Lexie, gets watery eyes when we are at the barn in the spring from wind blowing the pollen and dust around in the

Essential Oils Use

How to Use them and
What to Use them For!

Essential oils use is not limited to aromatherapy. There are hundreds of ways to use essential oils and those who use them
find new applications everyday!
But first,
Let's answer some frequently answered questions about essential oils use.
What if I have never used Essential Oils Before?
No problem, just like learning anything new, start slow, take a deep breath and enjoy the process! As you use the oils more
and more you will begin to know your body and be drawn to what you need. Read as much as you can do gain an
understanding of what they are and how to use them.
How Much do I Use?
Always refer to the reference guides for single oils and blends. They usually have an essential oils use section. Generally,
several drops in your palms, feet or on location will be sufficient.
Oils should be diluted up to 30% for massage and more for children and certain pets. One drop per tablespoon or more of
vegetable oil is recommended in several books for infants.
I am concerned about my Skin Response. What do I do?
If you are concerned about your skin sensitivity, then perform a quick, skin check (below), or again, dilute it with a
vegetable oil base.
On the inside of your upper arm, place one drop of oil to see if any redness develops. If so, apply a vegetable oil base to
dilute the oil before reapplying.
What if I have an Allergic Reaction?
Allergic reactions are caused by the "histamine", a protein molecule. Essential oils do not contain protein, so an allergic
reaction is not possible! Redness usually indicates a detoxification reaction not an allergy reaction.

But remember if it is NOT a therapeutic grade essential oil therapeutic grade essential oil you may have a reaction to the
solvent used to adulterate it! So make sure you are using therapeutic grade oils!
How are oils Absorbed into the body?
There are four ways that oils go into the body (SOLD):

Home Remedies for Anxiety should

Always include Essential Oils
Are you looking for home remedies for anxiety?
Would you like to stop anxiety attacks organically?
Well, you have come to the right place! Essential oils can help manage and prevent anxiety in so many ways.
How and why are Essential Oils great home remedies for anxiety?
First, essential oils are convenient, quick and easy to use. You can wear them during the day, diffuse them in your home or
work place, or simply keep them in your pocket.
Essential oils can be used in massage, and to enhance meditation and concentration. Read through the Use Section for more
ideas!
Essential oils are organic substances from the volatile liquid of plants. The essential oils support the body to come back into
balance without harmful side effects or chemical based products.
Making sure the oils are pure, therapeutic grade is important because a majority of the oils on the market are for aromatic
use only, or contain chemicals that may be harmful to the body.
And, the most amazing and helpful aspect when looking for home remedies for anxiety is that....
Essential oil can immediately penetrate cell membranes and diffuse throughout the blood and tissues instantly in a matter
of seconds. They cross the brain-blood barrier in seconds reaching the amygdala and other limbic parts of the brain. The
amygdala also can influence the hypothalamus which is our hormonal center.
Why is this important?
The amygdala is the emotional center where all the emotions are controlled and stored. Anxiety, anger, fear depression and
joy all originate from here!
And, the hypothalamus is responsible for sending out hormones that effect everything! Including our energy, mood, or
state of anxiety!
So, just by
Inhaling essential oils, we can minimize our stress, anxiety or any emotional trauma immediately! This makes them perfect
home remedies for anxiety. It is that simple!
What is the difference between Stress and Anxiety?
Stress and anxiety are often confused and can be misunderstood easily! So, I have provided definitions for the readers
below.

Many of the essential oils overlap when it comes to stress and anxiety. So I have another section that specifically addresses
stress as well.
What is Stress?
Stress is the body's response to stimuli which can be from many different sources. And it can be positive or negative. For
instance, exercise is very positive stimuli but it can also be negative to the body. It can help release stress from home or
work, but overdone, it can place too much stress on the muscles and create over exertion and soreness.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is really fear based emotion which creates an emotional and physical response in the body. If we do not recognize
the symptoms of anxiety, or do not learn to manage it, then it can affect our physical and emotional well being.
What are Anxiety Symptoms?
Here are just a few. I have read websites where there are thousands!
What are some of the Physical Symptoms or Body Systems that are Affected?

Sleep - difficulty falling or staying asleep (see oils for sleeping)

Respiratory shortness of breath, cant breath

Cardiovascular heart palpitations, racing heart

Digestive upset stomach, diarrhea, lack of taste/hunger

Immune - increase infection

Endocrine fatigue, hormonal imbalance, dizziness

Skeletal/Muscular stiffness, muscle tension, headaches

What are some of the Emotional Symptoms?

Fear losing control, cant change.

Apprehension feelings of insecurity, overwhelmed.

Mood not consistent, irritability, sadness.

Concentration hard to concentrate, forgetting easily.

Emotionally unstable

So, when we speak of anxiety, then we must look at the physical and emotional components. Essential oils are great for this
use, because they address the spiritual, physical and emotional components of the body.
What Oils are Best used as Home Remedies for Anxiety?
Depending on the books and literature you read, there are over 15 different single oils that can help anxiety! This does not
include professionally made blends that are also very useful.
I have divided the oils for home remedies for anxiety in three categories. Understand that oils always have
some overlap because they don't just have one property.

And everyone's body chemistry is different. So what may be best for one person, may not be best for another.
My suggestion is as always, select one or two oils (or a blend) to use and find out what works best for you. Write down your
experiences so you can recognize and remember the changes.

Looking for a Natural Muscle Relaxer for Spasms or Overexerted Muscles? Use
Essential Oils!
Are you looking for a natural muscle relaxer? Do you know what to do for muscle spasms? Do you need a natural
alternative for muscle soreness or strain?
Well, you have landed in the right location! Essential oils can help with all of the common muscle problems we all deal
with. This includes muscle fatigue, pain, spasms, or injuries.
Have sore and achy muscles from your exercise routine? No problem we will address that too!
Essential Oils are also good for prevention. Before you get to the point where you always need a natural muscle relaxer,
use them before you exercise to prevent injury. Keep your muscles warm and happy all year long! I do!
I should know (better). I have been riding horses (and sometimes falling off) since I was age 5 and still ride several horses a
day professionally. I have also run races, crashed bikes (both types), and worked out till I was blue in the face. I even was a
certified personal trainer and sports nutritionist at one point!
So, my point is that I have a lot of experience in this muscle department. And I am thrilled to tell you about something
that really does work!
Oh, by the way, I also use essential oils as a natural muscle relaxer for the horses. Horses love essential oils!
But first,
How do Essential Oils work as a Natural Muscle Relaxer or Pain Reliever?
Essential oils contain properties that are documented to be anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic (pain relieving)
and more. They easily penetratethe skin and can be carried throughout the blood and tissues within minutes!
Essential oils are also high in antioxidants, improve oxygenation to the cells and cleanse the lymphatic system.
Therefore, the oils will help your body eliminate inflammatory wastes, improve circulation and ultimately help with recovery
time.
Why are Essential Oils so Unique?
You mean, besides the fact that therapeutic grade essential oils are natural and dont have any side effects? Read on and I
will tell you.
Oils have multiple medicinal properties. For instance, did you know that Lavender Essential Oil has analgesic,
antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and sedative properties? Yes it does. So, I could use this oil as a natural muscle relaxer,
and for stress (just in case I was upset about my muscle pain)!
There are many more examples because there are over 50 different oils that have anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic
properties alone!

In the next section I will categorize them according to muscle condition so you can easily select some oils to work with.
Because the oils have many properties, there will always be some overlap, so you may see them in more that one category.
Also keep in mind, that everyones body chemistry is different. So what may work best for one person, may not work best
for another.
My suggestion is, as always, select one or two oils (or a blend) to use and find out what oils are right for you. Write down
your experiences so you can remember and recognize any changes.
Click on the individual oil to learn more about how and what to use it for. And check out the Oil Uses Section to learn how to
use the oils.
What creates a Muscle Cramp or Charley Horse?
A muscle spasms or a charlie horse can occur when:

muscles are tired

muscles are overused or overexerted

muscles are overstretched

the body is deficient in minerals especially magnesium and calcium, or

the body is dehydrated (low in electrolytes).

As a reminder, muscles require sufficient water, glucose, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium to allow the proteins
within muscle cells to work!
So, my advice is, in addition to using the oils, make sure you are not overlooking something that your body requires for your
muscles to work correctly.
What Oil do I use for Muscle Cramps, Charley Horses or as a Natural Muscle Relaxer?
We want oils that increase blood circulation, have a warming effect and bring quick relief. The top natural muscle relaxers
are listed below.

Basil Essential Oil

Cypress Essential Oil

Marjoram Essential Oil

Rosemary Essential Oil

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

Clary Sage Essential Oil

Lavender Essential Oil

Wintergreen Essential Oil

Elemi Essential Oil

These are the best professionally made blends:

Aroma Siez Essential Oil Blend

PanAway Blend

Ortho Ease Massage Oil

Relieve It Essential Oil Blend

Marjoram, basil and juniper essential oils work well for voluntary and involuntary muscle (smooth muscles).
Basil, marjoram and Aroma Siez Blend are my personal favorite muscle relaxers. Of course, you may smell like an Italian
kitchen, but you feel great!
Massage several drops diluted 50:50 on the cramped muscle at least 3 times per day. Alternating hot and cold packs may
also help along with some light stretching.
What Oils do I use for Muscles that have inflammation?
Inflammation usually indicates that there is some tissue damage. This may also occur if we exercise to the point where we
have strained or pulled a muscle.
We want oils that speed healing, have a cooling effect and that minimizefurther damage. The best oils to reduce
inflammation are listed below.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Marjoram Essential Oil

Lavender Essential Oil

Thyme Essential Oil

Wintergreen Essential Oil

Helichrysum Essential Oil

Clove Essential Oil

Copaiba Essential Oil (Copal)

Balsam Fir Essential Oil

White Fir Essential Oil

Palo Santo Essential Oil

Myrrh Essential Oil

These are the best professionally made blends:

PanAway Blend

Massage several drops diluted 50:50 onto inflamed muscle at least 3 times per day.

Personally, my top choices are Wintergreen and PanAway for this application. If it was do to injury such as sprain and pain
was involved I would select PanAway first because it contains four of the single oils listed above: helichrysum, wintergreen,
clove and peppermint.
When there is severe inflammation as with an injury, I tend to rotate the oils throughout the healing process.
What Oils do I use for Muscles that are Sore or Stiff Muscles from Exercise?
Sore muscles result from the muscles slightly tearing. Dont be alarmed, this is how the body repairs and rebuilds the
muscle stronger! We also may experience some stiffness and slight swelling as well.
We want oils that speed recovery, have a cooling and/or warming effect and that promote relaxation. The best oils to
reduce soreness are listed below.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Peppermint Essential Oil

Marjoram Essential Oil

Wintergreen Essential Oil

Helichrysum Essential Oil

Douglas Fir Essential Oil

Ginger Essential Oil

Black Pepper Essential Oil

Eucalyptus (globulus and radiata) Essential Oils

Pine Essential Oil

Spruce Essential Oil

These are the best professionally made blends:

Peace & Calming Essential Oil Blend

Aroma Siez Essential Oil Blend

Ortho Sport Massage Oil

PanAway Essential Oil Blend

Ortho Ease Massage Oil

Massage several drops diluted 50:50 onto sore muscle at least 3 times per day. Also apply a warm compress to muscles.
Massage oils do not have to be diluted.
Personally, I am a huge Ortho Sport fan. I put it on every morning before I ride, and I have little to no stiffness when I
return from the barn. Ortho Ease and Peppermint are also some of my favorites.

I tend to go with the massage oils because they are convenient as well. Ortho Sport has many of the single oils mentioned
for sore, inflamed and tired muscles. And it does not require dilution. It has wintergreen, peppermint, and lemongrass, three
of the oils I just love!
Want to Roll Away Muscle Soreness, Stiffness and Inflammation?
Then try Deep Relief Essential Oil Roll On! I love this handy little applicator blend. Fits in your purse or pocket and is perfect
for those hard to reach spots on your back or shoulders! Full of powerful anti-inflammatory oils such as Copal and
Helichrysum.
Have Muscle Weakness?
Then Idaho Balsam Fir, Juniper, Nutmeg, Douglas Fir or White Fir are good ones to try. Massage four to six drop into the
muscle at least three times per day!
Want to try a Supplement with Essential Oils that will help reduce Muscle Pain and Inflammation?
Try BLM Bones, Ligaments and Muscles) with Essential Oils, MSM and glucosamine. Or Omega Blue Essential Oil Supplement
with fish oils.

Essential Oils for Pain can

Help you Reduce pain Naturally!
Essential oils for pain are effective and do not come with negative side effects.
I personally believe that essential oils for pain are even better than the "over the counter" pain relievers such as aspirin.
And I will tell you why in this section.
How do Essential Oils work as Natural Pain Relievers?
Every essential oil contains multiple medicinal properties that assist the systems of the body. As a matter of fact, many
of the drugs used today were originally derived from the natural constituent first.
Once companies learned how to produce those constituents synthetically, then it was easier and less expensive for them to
be produced in a chemical form rather than a natural form.
There are over 60 different essential oils for pain that have analgesic properties. Analgesic means that a substance has
shown to relieve or reduce pain.
For instance, one oil that I use daily contains these properties: Analgesic, anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and antirheumatic. It also contains methyl salicylate the main ingredient in aspirin.
Did you guess what oil I am talking about?
If you guessed Wintergreen Essential Oil then you would be right!
Did you know that Wintergreen Essential Oil contains 85-99% of methyl salicylate, the same component of aspirin?
Yes, birch and wintergreen were considered the best essential oils for pain before synthetics were made in the early 1920s.
The Native Americans used them to combat pain since before we were keeping any records!
Birch and wintergreen are the only plants in the world that naturally contain methyl salicylate. It is documented that these
oils have cortisone-like effects that can relieve pain quickly.

Wintergreen is also emotionally warming and soothing. It opens the heart chakra so we are more accepting of
ourselves which is also so important when we are going through any kind of pain.
Birch essential oil is no longer available because of the scarcity of the birch tree. However wintergreen essential oil is
available and is one of my favorite oils to use for a variety of things.
Need, one more example?
Did you know that a 1994 study showed that peppermint essential oil was effective at blocking channels that transmit
pain signals? Yes, so peppermint is definitely one of the best essential oils for pain! And there are others, just read on below.
Before we look at what other essential oils are for pain, let us look at the definition of pain.
What is Pain?
This is from the Merriam-Webster Medical Dictionary:
Pain is a state of physical, emotional, or mental lack of well-being. Or physical, emotional, or mental uneasiness that
ranges from mild discomfort or dull distress to acute, often unbearable agony may be generalized or localized.
It is the consequence of being injured or hurt physically. Or mentally or of some derangement of or lack of equilibrium in
the physical or mental functions (as through disease), and that usually produces a reaction of wanting to avoid, escape, or
destroy the causative factor and its effects.
I find this so amazing! How often do we forget, or minimize, the fact thatphysical pain comes with emotional pain. They
are intertwined!
So, when we think of pain in these terms, then to reduce pain, we must look at all the parts of the equation: physical,
emotional, and spiritual. And, I am sorry to say, but synthetic substances only address the physical portion of the problem.
And that is a where a big part of the problem begins.
If we add up the equation, we then can see that essential oils for pain are one of natures perfect solutions to reducing
and minimizing pain. Because they address all the components.
I realize that there are many types of pain. And in the next section I will attempt to categorize them as best I can so you
can easily select some oils to work with. Because essential oils for pain have many properties, there will always be some
overlap, so you may see them in more that one category.
Also keep in mind, that everyone's body chemistry is different. So what may work best for one person, may not work best

I had a tooth that had a root canal that still ached and bothered me for years. I asked my dentist about it, put he really
never had an answer. I started putting clove essential oil on it first and it definitely helped with the pain, but then it would
come back.
I started using Thieves Blend and the discomfort went away for good in the next 24-48 hours. Thieves also has pain and
anti-infectious properties.
About a month after that I went to the dentist for a check up and I told him that my tooth wasn't bothering me anymore. He
checked the tooth and said he was surprised because the cap had come loose and needed to be replaced!
He was very concerned about infection and thought the tooth may have to be removed. But when he removed the cap, he
said that I was extremely lucky. Despite some decay on the edges, he found no infection present and I could keep my tooth!
Clove and Thieves are definitely great natural toothache remedies!
What Oils do I use for Muscle Pain?
Muscle pain usually results form injury (sprains, strains, ligaments or torn muscles) or extreme overuse!
Please note, that muscle pain affecting your whole body can also result from infections (flu), autoimmune disorders (lupus,
fibromyalgia), or a smooth muscle condition (cardiovascular, colon, gallbladder and kidney stone pain).
We want to choose oils that have a cooling effect and are analgesic (pain relieving). There are over 40 different oils listed in
various sources for this application. So I have chosen the top 20 oils and blends below that I have personally used.

Roman Chamomile Essential Oil

Lavender Essential Oil

Marjoram Essential Oil

Peppermint Essential Oil

Rosemary Essential Oil

Thyme Essential Oil

Vetiver Essential Oil

Wintergreen Essential Oil

Helichrysum Essential Oil

Ginger Essential Oil

Lemongrass Essential Oils (ligaments)

Copaiba Essential Oil (Copal)

Balsam Fir Essential Oil

Palo Santo Essential Oil

These are the best professionally made blends:

Aroma Siez Essential Oil Blend

Ortho Sport Massage Oil

PanAway Essential Oil Blend

Ortho Ease Massage Oil

Relieve It Essential Oil Blend

Massage several drops diluted 50:50 onto sore muscle at least 3 times per day. Remember to apply ice for 24 to 72 hours
after injury. Then heat may be applied to relax and bring circulation into the area. Massage oils do not have to be diluted.
I tend to rotate the oils throughout the healing process if I am in a lot of pain. But my oil of choice is always PanAway. My
second choice is Relieve It. Relieve It has black pepper and spruce and really helps with deep tissue pain. Rotate back and
forth as needed for pain.
I tend to go with the massage oils because they are convenient as well. Ortho Sport has many of the single oils mentioned
for sore, inflamed and tired muscles. And it does not require dilution. It has wintergreen, peppermint, and lemongrass, three
of the oils I just love!
A Personal Note
Well, I can't say that I have been without joint, bone and muscle pain, but I have learned to minimize the pain very
effectively.
After all, I have competed in sports my whole life, and still do. Preventing everyday overuse and injury at this point is the
key for me. As well as using essential oils for pain on a daily basis.
I use Ortho Sport and PanAway everyday on my body before I ride, especially my knees. If I take a shower later in the day,
I will use them then as well. I also take a bone and joint supplement that contains balsam fir, wintergreen and clove
essential oils and MSM that I find helpful.
I had a very bad finger and hand injury in January 2009. The tendons, ligaments and everything else attached to my ring
finger was black and blue down to my wrist. It was extremely painful and ugly to see.
Although the orthopedic wanted to prescribe pain killers and an anti-inflammatory, I chose not to take the
prescription. As a matter of fact, I didn't even take an aspirin. But if I didn't have essential oils for pain, I couldn't have
made it through without the scrip.
You see,
Wintergreen, Relieve It, PanAway, Palo Santo and Lavender Essential Oils became my best friends for life after that injury,
along with some others. I was so thankful that I had the knowledge of the essential oils for pain to help me through the
most painful physical and emotional injury of my life.

Our quality of sleep is affected by:

What we eat and drink (caffeine and heavy meals before bed will keep us up)

What we do before bed (exercising right before will keep me up, but exercising during the day helps me sleep
better)

What we have next to our bed (bright alarm clock or night lights may disrupt your sleep)

Our stress level, and
