Due Dates:
Hand Drawn Coaster: Monday, April 13
Coaster Specifications Table: Monday, April 13
Poster / Final Project (Poster): Thursday, April 16
Late projects will be deducted 7 points PER DAY that the project is late
your project is expected to be turned in on the above dates, whether you are
absent from school or not.
Absences does NOT excuse you from turning your project in ON TIME.
Introduction:
You have been challenged to build the best roller coaster in North Carolinathe catch is
you have to use your knowledge of Trigonometric Functions and the Circle in order to
complete this task. You will write the equations to your rollercoaster, analyzing each detail
of the functions chosen, and finally graphing your master piece. Be CREATIVE, but most
importantly have fun with this!!!
GOOD LUCK and may the thrill be with you!
Guidelines:
You will work in groups of 2 (unless a need for a group of 3 arises due to numbers)
Remember to pick someone that is dependable and that you can work well with, as
the majority of this project will be completed OUTSIDE of class.
You will evaluate your partners contribution to the coaster through a peer
evaluation which will be given to you on Monday, April 13 (10 points)
Your coaster is required to have a total of 5 graphs:
2 Sine Graphs / Equations (one of which is reflected)
2 Cosine Graphs / Equations (one of which is reflected)
1 Circle Graph / Equation
** You may include more than 5 graphs, however only the first 5 will be counted towards
your grade **
For each of the above you must include the following on the Coaster Specifications Table
that will be shared with you through google docs. No 2 graphs can contain the same
valuesall functions must have different values for each of the following:
* Equation *Amplitude
*Period
*Phase Shift
*Vertical Shift
*Domain
*Range
You will create a hand drawn version of your coasterthis is due Monday, April 13.
Each hand drawn coaster must have the following: (25 points)
Neatly drawn on graph paper, legible, & easy to read
All graphs must smoothly connect to the graph before it.
First and Last graph must start at the SAME Y-Value
All points labeled (5 main points for each trig function & 4 main points for circle)
Each graph must be done in a different color
