Assembling the Quilt

1. Using the quilt picture as a guide, piece the diagonal rows
together.
2. After the rows are pieced, press the seams of every other
row in the opposite direction. Sew the rows together to make
the quilt center. Press.
3. The edges of the quilt will need to be trimmed to 1/4
above the corner of the circle block.
4. Sew the 4 1/4 x 52 1/2 strips to the long sides of the
center. Press.
5. Sew the 4 1/4 x 47 strips to the top and bottom of the
quilt. Press.
Finishing
1. Cut the background fabric into 2- 1 1/2 yard pieces.
Sew the two backing pieces together and press the seam
allowances open.
2. Layer the backing, batting, and quilt top, and quilt by hand
or machine, as desired.
3. Sew the binding strips together to form one long strip.
Fold the binding in half lengthwise, with wrong sides
together, and press. Sew the raw edges of the binding to the
edges of the right side of the quilt. Turn the folded edge of
the binding to the back side of the quilt and stitch in place by
hand, mitering the corner seams.
