Anton LaVey's "Test of the 13 Factors" of "Competence of a career in practice of

the Devil's Game":

He says to answer yes or no for 13 of 20 and the rest are not valid

e?

12) Have you ever been considered "cheap"?
13) Have you experienced anything of a mystical nature while using drugs?
14) Do you have an interest in movies and TV shows with an occult theme?

The man usually called Anton Szandor LaVey said if you get 7-9 right you have ho
pe of being a competent witch someday. This founder of the Church of Satan said
if you get 10-12 right "You are well on your way to sorcery." He claims those
who get all thirteen are "truly gifted."
I am not in favor of Satanism, witchraft, or sorcery. I do not agree with all h
is conclusions in these matters, but I think this test and its comment make some
good general points. I welcome your answers ort interpretations if you are res
pectful.

I respond to George Winfrey's retelling of this with:

He says the answers are "1. yes; 2. invalid; 3. yes; 4. no; 5. invalid; 6. yes;
7. yes; 8. yes; 9. no; 10.yes; 11.invalid; 12. yes; 13. invalid; 14. yes; 15. no
; 16. yes; 17. invalid; 18. no; 19. invalid; and 20. invalid.
The satans can twist any character or physical attribute into vice. Any vice ca
n be turned into a virtue. I say the following is the best interpretation:
1) Yes, because the fact that any would accuse you as being one to make deals wi
th or worship demons as even a joke is a clear sign of vulnerability.
2) Irrelevent, for it doesn't matter who your ancestors were as far as are you g
oing to be more pious or evil. Anyone can go either way.
3) Irrelevent, for satanic choices come to those in need and those who are doing
well. Alot of wealth and so called accomplishment is tainted by sin. Ease and
hardship are tests and some do better with the one than the other.
4) Yes, because beliefs amounting to jibt, like ghouls and involuntary possesion
where spirits can hurt you physically and such may give you schizohrenia or lea
d you to make bad choices.
5) Irrelevent, for personal likes of appearences in this way don't matter in the
big picture.
6) Yes, because your abilty to influence without even conscious effort can make
you a great asset for whatever side you choose-the party of god (hizboollah0 or
the party of Satan (hazbashshaytaan).
7) Yes, because jealousy and other strong emotions are a vulnerability to greate
r vice.
8) Yes, because it is usually not. While thereis plenty of genuine metaphysical
experience, exaguration is ansignificant danger opening the gate to atleast pri
de.
9) No, because a choice to be unclean somehow in body lead to or is s symptom of
being unclean in other and more important ways.
10) Yes, because you get merit or demerit by whatever you take a role in. The e
xception is when people misuse what was good and true.
11) No, for astrology or psuedoastrology (not astronomically acurate) is what yo
u make of it. No one is influenced or given ability by their chart unless they
make that happen somehow.
12) Yes, for stinginess as far as charity is an evil all by itself. Wants are a
priviledge and should be forsaken in atleast a part to provide for other's need
s.
13) Yes, because alcohol and other intoxicants have an evil that outweighs their
good. Experience with even tobacco indicates that other sins, usually greater
ones have been committed or they will be easier to lead the person into them. R
ecreational drug use is one of the greatest gateway sins. Delusional experiences
and nonawareness in unhealthy ways doesn't help, either.
14) Yes, because our entertainment can influence us in so many ways-overt and su
btle.
15) Yes, as far as it is to improper means. Shyness or modesty is one of the tw
o strongest drives in the human being. We have to work with them and not turn a
sacred thing like the body into mere entertainment for others.
16) Yes, for the little sins add up.
17) No, because both a sociopath and psychopath can be found in people with the
mind to do other wise and those who will make the excuse of a lack of ability.
18) Irrelevent, misuse of fear and the lack thereof fear can be used to drive pe
ople further down the spiral of improper acts of worship too.
19) Yes, because temptation allowed to continue can break one down. Not having
to try hard can make us complaicent enough to not try for a better mate for us.
20) Yes, because thinking that power resides in other than God or without his pe
rmission and acting upon this misdirects energies from better use. Talismans ar
e ok, because the use and interpretations is where the real benefit lies in ritu
al objects.
