Personal life is often regarded as the area in which we benefit from the greatest amount of
freedom, where we can make decisions as we consider best for us, without having to manage
too many aspects. However, you might have encountered at least one of the following situations:

Lack of time to dedicate to your family, friends, hobbies due to working long hours;
Lack of motivation to carry on with different activities;
High levels of stress;
Inability to achieve different goals;
The need to have a sense of contribution, to understand the bigger picture you are part

Organizational level: At strategic level, performance management deals with the achievement of
the overall organizational objectives. It is referred to as corporate, business or enterprise
performance management.
Operational level: Is in the realm of operational management, as it serves is the achievement of
operational objectives. Although aligned with corporate strategy, it has a functional focus,
using tools such as dashboards and scorecards.
Individual level: The traditional level at which performance management is used in organizations
is the individual level, looking at the performance of employees in the context of the
organization in which they work.

Nicholas Felton is an infographic designer, mostly known for his activity as part of Facebooks
product design team, as well as for his Personal Annual Reports. The latter compile daily
measurements into graphs, maps and statistics, mirroring the years activities, from food and
drinks to travels, communication and relationships.
In 2009, Felton designed a different type of report, by changing the data owners. More
specifically, in 2009, his friends, colleagues, family and simple acquaintances were asked to
report on his activities when they met, and the data obtained was then used to compile the
report. He only kept track of the people he sent survey invitations to. These surveys were meant
to provide a record of Feltons encounter with these persons.

When publicly expressing an identity-relevant behavioral intention to other people, our chances
of accomplishing it decrease. This is mostly applicable if the intention also includes the progress
towards that identity goal.
Showing commitment to a goal enhances further goal striving, while speaking in terms of
progress toward a goal reduces further goal striving.

If a person is told by the doctor to change his/her diet due to high cholesterol, we are
talking about extrinsic motivation.
If the person takes action to improve the diet because he or she believes it is good for the
health, this is again the case of extrinsic motivation, as the person does so for the
instrumental value of the action, not for pleasure.
Intrinsic motivation: is when one changes the diet and all related habits out of pleasure
and enjoying the process.
