Mr Lim is a very hard-working and successful carpenter. He first learnt

carpentry when he was only about nine years old. He followed his father to work
and observed him as he made furniture. He also helped his father to carry
pieces of wood. Sometimes he tried to use the tools such as hammer and saw
just like how his father did.
Mr Lim did not take any lessons to become a carpenter. He just tried
making furniture by himself. He also learnt a few tricks of the trade from his
grandfather, father and uncles, who were all good carpenters.
Now Mr Lim is very good at making chairs, tables, beds, cupboards and
other furniture. Besides making furniture, Mr Lim also repairs houses, roofs,
factories as well as paint walls of houses. Sometimes he also makes blackboards
for schools.
Mr Lim uses a lot of tools. He uses hammer, saws, pliers, screwdrivers and
other tools. He uses a saw to saw or cut piece of wood. The hammer is used for
hitting nails into the wood. He carries his tools in a big tool box. He drives a van
to support his tools and pieces of wood when he goes to repair houses. He hopes
to open his own furniture shop one day.
