Notes from the desk of the Process Leader

The Process Leader should spend time focusing on the team´s formation and functioning. This will
include leading discussions about team member expectations, contributions, communication
agreements, leadership, goals and roles. The Process Leaders should serve as Observer and
provide reflective feedback, as well as capture and confirm concerns and agreements among team
members. The primary objective of these discussions is to ensure that time and attention is given to
development of team viability.

1. In Working with Your Team


a. Commit to a regular meeting time. Tuesdays @ 6:30 PM. We will utilize face-
to-face time to meet during residency weekend. Day: Thursday @ Noon.
b. Attempt as much open communication as possible. Use what you’ve learned in
Effective Communications to discuss the means by which you wish to resolve
problems as a group, and what escalation process you will use if problems
persist. Pending discussion
c. Use your mission statement to create a shared vision among the team members
that will allow you to stay focused and on target. Pending discussion

2. Do we need to change anything?


a. “Are we slacking in deliverables for this project? It seems like something should
be due? Are we still on target? I feel as though we should be further along.”
b. “Can we think about what fun and play means to us? What do we consider a
playful work environment for us? What direction for the actual play environment
should we pursue? In our own work experiences, how has it been fun?”

3. How are we feeling about the team and our current process?
a. One of our strong points: gathering of opinions.
b. We take turns talking and value each other’s opinions.
c. We offer constructive feedback.
d. We are mindful of time and commitments.
e. We go into each meeting with a plan of attack.
f. We establish weekly goals to strengthen the process. This helps to solidify and
understand everyone’s expectations. This enriches the process, perception and
communication.
g. We maintain an open line of communication. Call each other out in a constructive
way.
h. Our process is a discovery process..FUN!
i. Wine and cheese is a great opportunity to relieve stress, express ourselves and
gain support.
j. Structure is welcomed because it helps us to better manage things.
k. The team’s potential is awesome. Big opportunities to do something cool.

b. What roles do each of you tend to play on teams?
c. What agreements will you make about the roles that need to be attended to for
the team to be successful?
