Advertising or advertizing[1][2][3] in business is a form of marketing communication used to


encourage, persuade, or manipulate an audience (viewers, readers or listeners; sometimes a
specific group) to take or continue to take some action.
The idea is to drive consumer behavior in a particular way in regard to a product, service or
concept.
This type of work belongs to a category called affective labor.[citation needed]
Any mass medium can deliver advertising. Some random examples:
newspapers, magazines, radio and television broadcasts, films, stage shows, websites,
billboards, posters, wall paintings, town criers, flyers, the back of event tickets, elastic bands on
disposable diapers, bathroom stall doors,
taxicabs, buses, trains, subway platforms, bus stop benches, street furniture,
airplanes, in-flight seat-back trays, overhead bins, passenger screens, skywriting,
shopping carts, stickers on fruit in supermarkets, supermarket receipts, coffee cups,
opening billboards in streaming audio and video.

Five elements of ads


Each step plays a specific role. As a marketer, you must always remember that you are the
uninvited guest.

Get Attention
The first step is getting attention. This is the job of the headline. A good headline will
cause your target audience to stop and examine the rest of the ad. the headline must be
specific as well as attention-grabbing.

Effective Targeting
, your ad must prove that these benefits must result from use of your product or service. This
would be the time to introduce some key features, and explain how they will allow the user to
realize the benefits you claimed possible. these benefits need to be geared specifically for your
target audience.

Reinforce Benefit
Reinforce the benefits, and perhaps add some more. Give examples of what they could do with
all the money youre trying to save them, or all the time theyll save by buying your widget or
service.

Grabbing Attention
Fifth, and finally, call for action. This is where your Call Now ###-###-#### statement goes.
Try to add a sense of urgency: This deal only lasts til noon Friday!

Memorable
In order to be effective, an advertisement has to be memorable for the viewer. With an effective
advertisement, the viewer should be able to clearly recall what happened during the course of the
ad, and more importantly, which product is being advertised. That recall is the hallmark of an
effective advertisement.

Entertaining
An effective ad will inform the consumer about the product or service you have to offer, but that
advertisement also need to entertain the potential buyer. Capturing the attention of the consumer
is essential for an effective ad, and the more entertaining your can make that ad the more
effective it can be.. Creating a parody of recent events is often a good way to incorporate humor
into your advertising campaign.

CONCLUSION
Advertising has become essential to promote sales, to introduce new product, to create good
public, for large scale of production, for educating people etc. Advertising is the integral part of
every day's life. Without advertising modern society cannot survive .Advertising is useful to
society as it encouraging people to purchase goods and services, it bridges the gap among people
by communicating varied culture through advertising message, it contributes to bring about all
round development of the economy by increasing demand, it provides opportunities to people to
improve their income.

If advertisements merely sold products, it would cause less critical concern than it does, but it
sells images, dreams and ideal ways of life. It sells, and then reinforces time and again, values those of consumerism and class consciousness; and it trades in stereotypes.
advertising creates and sustains an ideology of consumption and it is a social force affecting
Indian homes today. Therefore, its impact should be analyzed.
Positive negative impact
Some positive effects of advertising on society are that people can be made aware
of new products and keep them up to date on improvements for already-released
products.

It plays a role in social change. It celebrates change and internalizes change for those who
become better by using a certain product/service.
A substantial amount of advertising expenses are utilized on advertisements of capital goods,
intermediaries, consumer durables and services, most of which promote investment, production
and employment.
Further, advertising has a definite role to play in rural development, and Indian advertising has
made some progress in this direction as well. Advertisements of fertilizers, pesticides, farming
equipment, cattle feed, etc. have reached rural market successfully.
Advertising can also be used to spread messages of motivation and education that
will reach millions of people. In addition to encouraging consumers to choose the
products that are best for them, advertising, at least in democratic nations, allows
individuals to learn about the wide variety of lifestyle and political choices available
to them and choose the ones that they find best.
Negative
There are many negative effects of advertising on today's teens.. Most of these
advertisements prevent unrealistic ideas about health, weight, and beauty. Today's
models weight 23 percent less than the average woman, while models from a
couple of decades ago only weighed 8 percent less than the average woman. These
unrealistic images cause teens to put unreasonably high expectations on
themselves, and lowers self esteem. Teenage boys can also be prone to excessive
exercising, binge eating, and anorexia due to unrealistic expectations of how they
should look.

The negatives are easy. Advertising relies mostly on our emotions ie: fear, sex, selfimportance etc. I think it's safe to say humans are naturally fearful of rejection or

being an "outcast." Imagine being an outcast thousands of years ago when humans
relied on each other to hunt food. The main fear of young teens today is not being
'pretty enough' or not being thin enough. Just check out those infomercials on how
to increase bust size or why you *must* get rid of your belly fat. They should be
showing more ads asking for donations to feed emaciated children in Third World
Countries.

She looks at cushions and says, After entering the bedroom, she Captain smiles and says,
