PREPARATION
Clean substrates of all deleterious materials and prepare substrates in accordance with the
Resin Matrix Flooring manufacturer's instructions. Grind and fill concrete surfaces as required
to meet tolerances:
1. Detergent clean all surfaces to remove greases and oils, chemically etch concrete substrates
to remove curing compounds and laitance. Blast clean all surfaces unacceptable according
to manufacturers written instruction for installation. Remove all traces of acids and
cleaning agents. Clean other surfaces in accordance with flooring manufacturers
requirements.
2. Treat cracks to prevent migration into flooring system. Level existing irregularities with
suitable underlayments. Slope fills for drainage as indicated. Grind down high spots to
level floor.

B.

Apply sealers and bonding agents to substrates in accordance with the Resin Matrix Flooring
manufacturer's instructions. Give special attention to preparation of metals and other materials
to ensure bond with flooring.

C.

Coordinate installation of Resin Matrix Flooring with floor drains, equipment bases and other
contiguous work. Mask adjacent work to prevent soil marks.

3.04

INSTALLATION

A.

Comply with the Resin Matrix Flooring manufacturer's directions for the mixing, placing,
finishing and curing of the flooring system and the requirements specified herein.

B.

Complete flooring work prior to contiguous work which would be damaged by the spillage of
water, resin matrix or other materials required.

C.

Provide reinforced waterproofing membranes where specified as part of the flooring system.
Return membranes up walls and penetrations a minimum of 100 mm vertically and overlap
drain bodies and contiguous work by others.

D.

Extend flooring into recesses, floor drains, over mechanical equipment bases, and under
equipment in the spaces shown to receive resin matrix flooring. Include integral cove, bases,
raised bases and depressions to form a complete monolithic covering without interruptions or
seams. Place and finish flooring neatly around obstructions, in a manner that will achieve
uniform color and texture and water tightness throughout.

E.

Patch flooring applied over equipment boxes following equipment installation, as required to
maintain monolithic waterproof integrity.

F.

Non-Slip Finishes: Provide non-slip textures where indicated or if not shown, provide non-slip
finishes in all rooms with floor drains or troughs. Provide non-slip textures of profiles as
selected by the Engineer.

G.

Cove Bases: Provide continuous cove bases of same materials as specified for floor. Provide
bases with level top edges at walls for level and sloped floors. Provide bases a minimum of
100 mm in height unless otherwise indicated.

H.

Underlayments: Patch cracks in substrates to receive Resin Matrix Flooring with materials and
methods to prevent cracks telegraphing through the finished flooring. Fill all depressions and
irregularities to produce a flat to plane floor:
1. Positive Drainage: In rooms with floor drains or drainage trenches, hose test and marble
test flooring substrates to identify all flooring areas which retain liquids. Patch all liquid
retention areas and provide a free draining substrate. Retest and repair until liquids drain
freely from all locations.

3.05

CLEANING AND PROTECTION

A.

Comply with Section 01 77 00.

B.

Protect resin matrix flooring throughout the construction period so that it will be without any
indication of use or damage at the time of acceptance by the Owner.

C.

After curing, but not more 4 days before acceptance or occupancy by the Owner, clean flooring
as recommended by the manufacturer. Remove masking and soiling from adjacent work.
