he Beijing JustTop digital radio network (Beijing government

shared TETRA network) is the
largest TETRA network in Asia
and the largest city-wide TETRA
network in the world. It supplied
seamless and secure radio communications services for all Olympic venues (competition and
non-competition venues as well
as training facilities), all Olympicrelated organisations and all main
traffic arteries in the city of Beijing and surroundings; it mainly
served the government and municipal committee, public security
officers such as traffic and armed
police, first-aid medical workers,
urban management organisations,
water conservancy departments
and the Beijing Organising Committee of the Olympic Games
(BOCOG) staff. Its various clientoriented applications and services
make it one of the most advanced
TETRA networks on earth.
Our multinational team has
prepared a perfect response to
the high risks and challenges associated with this high-profile
event viewed by billions of people around the globe, explained
Stefan Zoller, CEO of the DS
Division. Our dedicated service
has meant that the users have
been able to focus on their own
core mission. We are honoured to
have played a part in the smooth
running of the Games. We will

certainly be able to build on this

success to further develop our
leading position on the Chinese
security market, he added.
Nearly 90,000 users employed
the Beijing JustTop network to
guarantee the successful and
safe running of the Games. The
network is operated by Beijing
JustTop Network Communications Ltd., for whom DS is the
key partner and TETRA solution provider. The network was
in full swing during the opening
ceremony of the Olympic Games,
ensuring excellent communications for all. The power of the
network was demonstrated by its
smooth and seamless operation
during the ceremony, with about

1,600,000 calls made that day!

how excellent we can

be when we work together on
such top challenges. Our customer is now fully satisfied and
this is good proof of how we
performed.
DS also equipped the Beijing
Capital International Airport
with a TETRA network specially
designed to meet the needs for
flawless logistic operations during the Games. The system primarily serves airlines and ground
service departments. Thanks to
its high reliability and security,
the TETRA network successfully
safeguarded goods transportation
during the Games as well as the
arrival and departure of BOCOG
staff, athletes and other passengers from all over the world.
There is a third DS-supplied
network serving public security
in Tianjin; a fourth network in
Hong Kong ensured secure communications during the Olympic
equestrian events.
