Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits Scholarships and Prizes


The Laithwaites Scholarships
The top Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits graduates from the UK, the USA and Australia are
invited to write an essay application for the scholarship with Laithwaites.
The award is a travel bursary of 1000 each to study a wine or spirit producing region of their
choice.
The Level 2 Champagne Scholarship, India
Graduates who studied in India and gained top marks in the Level 2 Award in Wines &
Spirits will be invited to an interview. The award is an invitation to a comprehensive
Champagne training and dinner in India arranged by the Bureau du Champagne in India.

Level 2 Award in Spirits Scholarships and Prizes


The Worshipful Company of Distillers Award
A travel bursary of 750 to be used for a study trip to a spirit producing region is awarded to
a graduate from the UK wine trade who gained top marks in the Level 2 Award in Sprits
exam.
Delamain Cognac Prize
A study visit to Cognac with Delamain Cognac is awarded to a graduate from the UK wine
trade who gained top marks in the Level 2 Award in Sprits exam.

Candidates who achieve outstanding marks in their examinations could be eligible for these scholarships.
Eligible candidates will be contacted by WSET Awards at the end of each UK academic year.

Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits Scholarships and Prizes


Wine Australia
A study trip with Wine Australia is awarded to one high achieving graduate in the Level 3
Award in Wines & Spirits exams sat in each of the following regions Great China, North East
Asia, South East Asia and Australia.
The Level 3 Champagne Scholarship, India
Graduates who studied in India and gained top marks in the Level 3 Award in Wines &
Spirits will be invited to an interview. The award is a study tour to Champagne arranged by
the Bureau du Champagne in India.
The Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux Scholarship
A place on the 3-day Grands Crus course at the Bordeaux Wine School as a guest of the
Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux is awarded to two graduates from either
Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, or Denmark.
The Amorim Scholarship
A graduate who sat their exams outside the UK and with top marks is awarded a study trip
that takes place in June or July to the traditional cork hand-harvest in the Alentejo forests, as
well as visits to Amorims state-of-the-art production units and R&D laboratories in their
Porto HQ.
Graduates from the UK who gained top marks in the Level 3 Award in Wines & Spirits exam
are invited to a Viva Voce exam for the following scholarships.
The Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux Scholarship
A place on the 3-day Grands Crus course at the Bordeaux Wine School as a guest of the
Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux is awarded to two graduates from UK trade.
The Amorim Scholarship
A graduate from the UK wine trade is awarded a study trip that takes place in June or July to
the traditional cork hand-harvest in the Alentejo forests, as well as visits to Amorims stateof-the-art production units and R&D laboratories in their Porto HQ.
The Vintners Bursaries
Three separate bursaries, sponsored by The Vintners Company, to be used towards the cost
of a foreign study tour to be arranged by the scholars.
These bursaries are also open to students not employed within the wine & spirit trade.
The Champagne Academy Scholarship
A place on the Champagne Academy study course and an invitation to join the Academy is
awarded to a graduate from the UK wine trade.
The Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino Scholarship
One year's Honorary Membership of the Gran Orden de Caballeros, and a study trip to Spain
as a guest of the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino.
This prize is offered by Wines of Spain to be awarded to a graduate from the UK trade
Candidates who achieve outstanding marks in their examinations could be eligible for these scholarships.
Eligible candidates will be contacted by WSET Awards at the end of each UK academic year.

The Gonzalez Byass Scholarship


A study trip to Jerez as a guest of Gonzalez Byass for a graduate from the UK wine trade.
Decanter Prizes
Two UK non-trade graduates are each awarded a one year subscription to Decanter magazine
and two Grand Tasting invitations to the Fine Wine Encounter
Porter & Laker Prize
850 towards Diploma course fees plus 350 to winners company for subscription to The
Benevolent. is awarded to a graduate from the UK wine trade by Porter & Laker.
The Incorporation of Coopers of Glasgow Scholarship
A graduate from the UK wine trade is awarded a visit to a cooperage and a whisky blending
session in Glasgow.
The Julian Brind Scholarship
A bursary of 1000 to be used for a study trip to a wine and/or spirit producing region is
awarded to a top UK graduate.
This award is sponsored by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust.

Level 4 Diploma in Wines & Spirits Scholarships and Prizes


The Lustau Sherry Trophy
A study visit to Jerez as guest of Emilio Lustau SA. and a trophy in the form of a silver
copita, to be held by the winner for a year awarded to a student from the UK wine trade.
The Grahams Port Scholarship
A study visit of four-to-five days to the Port producing region is awarded to a student from
the UK wine trade.
The Freixenet Bursary
A study visit to several Spanish wine regions as guest of Freixenet (DWS) and associated
companies is awarded to a student from the UK wine trade.
The Louis Jadot Burgundy Scholarship
A study trip to Burgundy is awarded to a graduate from the UK wine trade.
The Wine Trade Club Paten Scholarship
A bourse de voyage of 1500 is awarded a top graduate from the wine trade to enable them to
visit the wine/spirit producing region(s) of their choice.
The Champagne Scholarship
A personally tailored study visit to Champagne as guest of the CIVC is awarded on interview
to a student from the UK wine trade with top marks in the Unit 5 Sparkling wines of the
world exam.
The Mot & Chandon Scholarship
A study visit to Maison Mot & Chandon and the Champagne region is awarded to a student
from the UK wine trade with top marks in the Unit 5 Sparkling wines of the world exam.
Candidates who achieve outstanding marks in their examinations could be eligible for these scholarships.
Eligible candidates will be contacted by WSET Awards at the end of each UK academic year.

The visit will be part of a group experience aiming to discover Mot & Chandon and the
Champagne region.
The Codornu Scholarship
A four day 'hands on' taste of working a vintage in three different Codornu wineries is
awarded to a student from the UK wine trade with top marks in the Unit Sparkling wines of
the world exam.
The Wines of Portugal Scholarship
A student from the UK wine trade is awarded a study visit to Portugal.
Wines of Germany
A study trip to Germany as a guest of Wines of Germany is awarded to two outstanding
graduates. One graduate will be from the UK trade and one from the wine trade in Canada,
USA, Nordic countries, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland or China.
The Peter Hampson Memorial Scholarship
A 500 bursary for a study trip to a wine producing region is awarded to a student with
outstanding marks in the Diploma Unit 2 Wine Production exam.
The Royal Tokaji Mad Scholarship
A two day study trip to Tokaji is awarded to a student from the wine trade.
Concha y Toro Scholarship
A study trip to Chile as a guest of Concha y Toro is awarded to a top graduate who is
working in the UK wine trade.
The Waitrose/IWSC Scholarship
A top graduate from the UK who is not currently in the wine trade is awarded a study trip to
a Waitrose supplier; attendance and induction at IWSC competition judging with possible
promotion to member judge; visit to Corkwise; and an engraved magnum decanter.
The Santa Rita Estates Scholarship
A study trip to Chile and Argentina as a guest of Santa Rita Estates is awarded to a top
graduate who is working in the UK wine trade.
The McNie Tasting Trophy
A silver-plated wine cooler is awarded to the graduate submitting the best Unit 3 tasting
paper and held by the winner for a year.
The Worshipful Company of Distillers Scholarship
A study tour to distilleries within the United Kingdom is awarded to a student from the UK
wine trade.

The United Kingdom Vineyards Association Prize


A programme of events throughout the vineyard year is awarded to a graduate from the UK
wine trade.

Hors Concours
A case of wine is awarded to the top non-trade graduate by the Vintners Company
The Derouet Jameson Award
This Scholarship is awarded to two outstanding graduates from the UK wine trade. The value
of the award is over 3,500 each to assist deserving candidates with the cost of the Master of
Wine study course.
Wine Australia
Five top graduates, one each from Canada, USA, Europe, Asia/Pacific and Ireland are
awarded a study trip to Australia
The Vintners Scholarship
A bourse de voyage to enable the winner to visit the wine/spirit producing region(s) of his/her
choice is awarded by the Vintners Company to the top scholar from the UK trade.
The Vintners Cup
A silver trophy awarded annually to the top graduate with distinction achieving the highest
aggregate mark, and is held by the winner for a year.

Level 5 Honours Diploma Scholarship


The IWSC Scholarship
A bursary of 2,500 for a study trip is awarded to the top Honours Diploma graduate.

Candidates who achieve outstanding marks in their examinations could be eligible for these scholarships.
Eligible candidates will be contacted by WSET Awards at the end of each UK academic year.
